These impatient pedestrians receive the lesson of a lifetime for dashing across a junction when the traffic light is still red. Last week, a motorcyclist captured the moment when a group of pedestrians decided to abandon the rules of the road for their own. The incident occurred at a junction in Clementi Road, just opposite the Police K9 unit. With the green man signal counting down the last few seconds, the group of pedestrians decided that there was still enough time for them to make the crossing. As they stepped foot on the road, the signal immediately turned red. Instead of backing away, the group assumed that the vehicles on the road would give way to them and proceeded to cross the junction. As the first few individuals reached the other end, an oncoming driver entering the junction stepped on his brakes to avoid a collision. This nearly sent a pedestrian to heaven as he reached out his arms to deflect the vehicle. The rest of the group immediately dashed to safety while those behind him raised their hands in an awkward apology. The video ended with the motorcyclist riding off after the whole group had jaywalked across the crossing. Another incident Earlier that week, another similar incident involving an entitled jogger occurred. In this video, the cam car and another driver were waiting at a junction for the red light signal to turn green. As the lights changed for the drivers, a half-naked jogger suddenly dashed across the junction with his arm raised out. The other driver drove off, nearly hitting the smug, entitled man, while the cam car stopped briefly. The cam car driver posted the video with the description 'Self-entitled, heck care attitude jogger failed to observe traffic rules and ran across the road on red man causing inconvenience to drivers, that had to stop just for him.' Netizens' reactions For the first incident, several netizens were quick to criticise the pedestrians' actions while some provided explanations for their impulsive behaviour. Sadly, that's the reality of driving in Singapore. Well said! There's no point in rushing for the last bus when it almost cost you your life. For the second incident, netizens unanimously agreed that the jogger was at fault and should not have continued running across the street to keep his momentum going. The irony is real. Yep! Just because you're a pedestrian doesn't mean that you have the right to command vehicles to stop for you while you illegally run across the street. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Looks like there’s a new kind of pedestrian on the streets of Singapore. Why did the chicken cross the road? I never understood that joke. Partially because there’s hardly any free-roaming chickens in most districts and because I have never actually seen a chicken cross a road until today. The chicken looked confused by the environment as it went back and forth on the first half of the road. However, it seemed to realise that it wasn’t safe to be on the road as it dashed across at lightning speed to the pavement on the other end. Games have been made I get why ‘Crossy Road’ features a chicken in its game now. Are you smarter than a chicken? If a chicken can wait for the green man to cross the road, why can't we? There has been a rise in local cases of drivers hitting jaywalkers in Singapore – all because they were too impatient to wait for the green man. The most recent high-profile case involved a jaywalking man somersaulting in the air after getting hit by a van in Sengkang in May this year. Luckily for him, he was brought to Khoo Teck Puat hospital immediately and managed to survive while sustaining several injuries. Another recent case was featured on MCF and it involved two jaywalking uncles shuffling across the road when the red man was on. As the yellow cab zoomed past the crossing, it brushed past both jaywalkers which gave the driver an unnecessary scare. According to the Singapore Police Force, elderly pedestrians account for more than 80% of fatal road accidents in 2020, with half of these accidents involving jaywalking. Netizens’ reactions Looks like we all have a lot to learn from this chicken. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. Jaywalking uncle and his +1 jam brakes to avoid getting hit by taxi
unicornfloof posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Two pedestrians jaywalk across a junction in Bangkit Road and almost lost their lives. In this short clip, two men jog across a pedestrian crossing on a red light. As they almost reached the other end of the crossing, a yellow taxi quickly zooms past them. The vehicle nearly hits the uncle at the front, who notices the car and slows down for a second. The camcar follows the taxi as it slows down further up the road, with the driver claiming that the taxi uncle had the fright of his life after encountering the two jaywalkers. Although the taxi had the right of way, the driver should have practiced defensive driving and slow down when approaching the junction. Just because the light is red for pedestrians does not mean that there won't be any jaywalkers around. However, there is no excuse for jaywalkers to think they own the road and that the vehicles will slow down for them. Jaywalking is an offense in Singapore and it merits a fine of $50 for first-time offenders. Personally, I think the most entertaining thing in this video is the adorable way that the uncle slows down when he notices the taxi as he jaywalks/jayruns. The manner in which he crosses the road is mildly feminine as well, which raises some eyebrows. Netizens' reactions TBH, I don't feel like there's a need for these two men to jaywalk across the junction. Why so 'kanchiong'? If they were any slower, they would have been caught in a terrible accident and the driver might lose his license. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. Entitled pedestrian forces cars to stop for him while he jaywalks
unicornfloof posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
An entitled jaywalker was caught "using the Force" to make cars stop for him as he crossed a traffic junction while the traffic lights were red. The short video showed a camcar driver attempting to turn right at Wellington Circle when the light was green, only to suddenly stop short when the driver noticed a man jaywalking across the road. As if stopping the car was not enough for him, the man had his arm stretched out to signal for other vehicles to stop for him as well. Very similar to using the Force (Star Wars reference). According to the driver, he felt that it was not wise of the jaywalker to risk his life as not all drivers might be paying attention while making a turn. Jaywalking is a chargeable offence. First-time offenders will be issued a fine of $50 while repeat offenders will be issued a fine of up to $1,000- and 3-months jail! Netizens' reactions Some of the comments make for very good captions. Pedestrians should be considerate and avoid jaywalking to prevent accidents from happening. Saving a few seconds of your time is not worth risking your life. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. Hi all, Sigh. I am caught jaywalking when the lights are not in pedestrain favour. Location is traffic light junction infront of Lot1. A TP gestured me to come over and explain that I had violate the law and took down my NRIC and name. I told him I am seriously late and hope he can close one eye..he say cannot. Its my 1st offence but unsure what penalty I will expect. S$50 summon ? Or warning ? Really hope its "Just for Laughs" shooting an episode..and not the real TP.

Got your attention, did I? Seriously, today I saw the most retarded and irresponsible thing I've *ever* seen on the road. A maid blithely pushing a pram (complete with baby) across the major Kim Seng Road. Not even close to a crossing. Cars were screeching to a halt to let them through, and she was playing "frogger" through traffic moving at 60+km/hr. I gave her a good long blast of my horn just to let her know how much of a c*nt I thought she was. Foreign Trash putting themselves in harm's way I can sort of tolerate. That's their own business. But putting an innocent little baby at risk is where I draw the line. Makes me furious just thinking about it.
