Male nurse molests male patient at Mount E Novena, says victim 'imagined things' under sedatives The victim also testified that his doctor told him such incidents should be kept "on the low". A Singaporean nurse, Ivan Lee Yi Wang, groped a male patient who was recovering from a gastro-colonoscopy. The molestation happened at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital in 2018. The 35-year-old nurse later denied his actions and said the victim had imagined the incident as he was under the influence of sedatives. On Feb. 20, 2024, he was found guilty of two charges of molestation following a trial, according to CNA and The Straits Times. First met at clinic The victim met Lee during his first visit to a clinic at Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. According to the operator of Mount Elizabeth Novena hospital, Parkway Pantai, Lee had been hired by the clinic independently and was a not a member of the hospital staff. The victim had been suffering from abdominal pain, bloating, and excessive belching for three months. Lee helped to register him at the reception counter. Having obtained the victim's number from a form, Lee later sent him text using his personal number, inquiring about a follow-up appointment. The victim felt that this was strange and did not reply to Lee's text. He called the clinic directly instead to schedule the appointment. Inappropriately touched On Oct. 13, 2018, the victim arrived at the clinic for a gastro-colonoscopy — a procedure that involves the insertion of a tube into the digestive tract. He changed into a hospital gown. Lee also spoke to him before the procedure was performed. Following the procedure, he was taken to a recovery ward. According to CNA, the victim was awakened when he felt his hospital gown being lifted up and a "grip" from what felt like a hand on his genitals. He also caught sight of a flashlight which looked to be from a phone camera. The victim was shocked by what had happened and did not call for help immediately. Lee later returned and molested him a second time. Female nurse found the victim was "quite nervous" later A female nurse who testified for the prosecution said she saw Lee standing in front of the recovery room, and that he was about to open the curtain around the victim's bed. When she asked Lee if he was giving medication to the victim, he said "yes". The nurse then told Lee not to administer more medication. She also advised him not to enter the room as the patient was probably still asleep. When she entered the room later with another nurse, she found the victim to be "quite nervous". He insisted that they "make sure the guy is not standing outside of [his] door". Told to keep it "on the low" During his testimony, the victim added that his doctor later told him, "This sort of issue should keep it on the low." The doctor also said that it was up to the victim if he wished to make a police report, CNA reported. The victim also felt "accused" when another nurse said no incriminating pictures had been found in Lee's phone and that the flashlight he saw could have been from a blood pressure machine. It was all in his head: Defence During his defence, Lee's lawyers — Peter Low, Christine Low and Nelson Chee from Peter Low Chambers — argued that the victim had imagined the act of molestation, as he was under the influence of the drugs used to sedate him, CNA reported. They added that Lee was not prohibited from physically examining the victim in the ward and that he had a "suspicion and cognitive bias" against Lee. In response, the prosecution noted that Lee himself had admitted that the victim did not have a reason to lie about his offences. Hi all Not exactly lite n easy. my MIL hospitalized in SGH. Have been doing this test that test but always give non-conclusive statement and only when we asked. Any avenue for broadcasting such issue of healthcare facility? Can't imagine the bills after staying for nearly 2 weeks and those tests. On a side note, I think in pursuit of shaping good economy, govt related bodies / subsidiaries have become very lax in their work. Examples - can peasant pursue justice without going thru great lengths like engaging lawyer, media etc? Can peasant wait for proactive medical update of patient status in black n white rather than going to private hospital.? In both cases peasant have no money and avenue. How can we change the society? Other than chasing material want and more money, what else is missing?

Operation was done and patient discharged the following day... "Note, patient and family asked doctor how come no need to use a "pipe" to discharge the "bad blood" when before the operation was done, they said there would be a need to.. Doctor implied that the blood was already discharged thus no need to... And there was also no CT Scan or scan after the surgery.. Okay, fine.... Since the doctor said so... Patient do notice the surgery area was noticeably "swollen", but its normal says doctor.... For 3 days, patient experience nausea, some pain, so finally cannot tahan, visited the doc on 3rd day after operation... Doc dismissed it as normal, prescribed some medicine and told her to go back... Okay, fine, since he says so.. 2 hours after she returned home, she vomitted blood.... Sharks, I send her straight to hospital, probably broke some traffic rules along the way, but it was an emergency, had to rush her immediately to hospital A&E.... That night she went through a CT Scan, her blood pressure was extremely low, apparently bad blood is still in her body. The following day, she had to be operated...... Coz theres still blood in her wounds.. The same doctor operated on her and deemed it a success again..... Claims to be a few possibilities, 1) Sepsis infection or blood infection after operation, (auto immune) or 2) first operetion's blood was not discharged fully and flow back to body..... or 3) virus infection A day after the 2nd operation, she developed breathing difficulties and at midnight the worse has happen, she needs to be warded into ICU... She needs to get her breathing back properly... Another day passed and further scans revealed that there's now blood in her lungs and her lungs is badly infected by the blood... Likely the same 3 causes as above.... Another operation needed and pipe inserted into the wounds to discharge the blood successfully.... 2 days later, the lung specialist I call that, not sure his term, but I call him the lung specialist, finally verbally revealed to her family that its the blood which was not discharged properly during the first operation..... WTF, how can this happen in our highly rated hospital...... Shes still in ICU after almost 2 weeks, recovering slowly and she may not fully recover her lungs as its "badly" damaged..... It seems like a simple operation gone awry, but none of the doctors admit its a mistake, only that lung specialist said so only. The bills are going to hefty..... Paid already 2 times in a week besides the first operation, they could run into hundreds of thousand if not in control... Question is, how can we confirm that its the hospital mistake, coz only the lung doctor admits its due to fault from the first operation.. The doctor who did the first operation says his operation is a success which is bull-crap..... We are trying to get the surgery/operation reports from the hospital, we just made the request this evening, but the nurse in ICU says she can only let us know if we can get it tomorrow, and she sounds very unwilling, asking us why we need that for, and we need the patient's consent when apparently she's in difficulty right now.... Hospital seems to with-holding these reports...... Any reputable lawyers which I can approach or any advices from you guys here which can help...... Thanks for listening guys... It had been a distressing week for her family and myself too.... Watching a healthy girl walking into SGH for a non-threatening surgery to be stuck in ICU now and through the fault of the doctor and the hospital still have the cheek to collect monies from her family...

According to the post, the bike was clamped as personal mobility devices (PMD) are not allowed in hospitals. Bike was obstructing A&E entrance Speaking to MS News, a KTPH spokesperson revealed that the bike was obstructing the walkway entrance of the A&E care centre. Hospital staff attempted to get in touch with the rider but to no avail. The spokesperson also shared that they chose to clamp the bike to prevent similar situations in the future. KTPH apparently has designated parking lots for PMDs and riders should not park at unauthorised locations. Eventually, the hospital managed to trace down the bike owner, who was apologetic about the matter. The case was eventually resolved “amicably” and the rider was not subjected to any penalty. A woman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who was seriously injured in a car crash in 1991 has finally woken up from a 27-year-long coma. Munira Abdulla, then 32, had just picked up her 4-year-old son Omar from school when the car they were in collided with a school bus, reported local daily the National on Monday (Apr 22). While Omar was unharmed, Ms Abdulla, who had tried to protect her son from the impact, was left unconscious with a serious brain injury. Last year, Ms Abdulla, now 60, regained consciousness in a hospital room in Germany. “I never gave up on her because I always had a feeling that one day she will wake up,” said her 32-year-old son Omar Webair in an interview with the National. Ms Abdulla, who was taken to a local hospital after the accident, was later transferred to one in London where doctors diagnosed her to be in a minimally conscious state. She was then returned to the UAE where she was transferred several times due to insurance constraints. In 2017, Ms Abdulla was finally taken to a German hospital after the Crown Prince Court heard the family's story and gave them a grant. There, Ms Abdulla underwent surgery to treat her weakened limb muscles as well as physical therapy. Last June, Ms Abdulla was seen stirring in her bed when an argument broke out in her hospital room. “She was making strange sounds and I kept calling the doctors to examine her,” Mr Webair told the National. “They said everything was normal. “Then, three days later, I woke up to the sound of someone calling my name. “It was her. Seremban Boy Keeps Losing in Video Game So His Dad Broke His Competitor’s Spine On January 11, a misunderstanding over a video game ended with a teenage gamer being hospitalised with broken bones. The incident happened at around 10pm at an electronic game store in Palm Mall, Seremban. Sin Chew Daily reported that the teenage victim had been playing a competitive video game against another boy. After beating the boy several times, the boy’s father approached the victim and offered him RM2 to intentionally lose and let the boy win. However, the bribe didn’t work and the teenager soon seized another victory, beating the boy once more. The father was angered and became violent, throwing a chair at the victim. He kicked the teenager several times, rallying up around four other men to come and assist the assault. A video of the event posted on Twitter showed them surrounding the visibly terrified teenager, yelling at him as passersby watched helplessly. At one point in time, a man even kicked the teenager in the head as he cowered on the floor. The assault was brutal, and the boy ended up being hospitalised as he suffered severe injuries. With bruises across his body, punctured lungs, broken ribs, and a shattered spine, the victim is currently in the ICU of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital. Police said they were alerted to an accident involving a lorry and an e-scooter at 9.47am at the junction of Sengkang East Road and Sengkang Square. According to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, the woman was on her way back from buying groceries at the market. She had stopped her e-scooter at a traffic junction and was waiting to cross the road when she was hit by the lorry. An eyewitness told Wanbao that the woman's arms and legs were bleeding and she was unable to move. He added that the driver of the lorry got out of his vehicle immediately after the accident and tended to the woman. The driver appeared unharmed. If you have a family emergency in the west, the nearest hospital is Ng Teng Fong Hospital. While that is true, it then gets complicated. It is broken down into specialities. So while its true you got to the hospital in the nick of time, you again need to be transferred to another hospital. So driving as fast as possible to the hospital is one thing. Getting the right skill and attended to is another. Now comes the complexity. After being treated, the patient will be moved to yet another hospital at A&E to transfer to the right specialist with the right kungfu. Still not an issue. Issue here is transferring to the hospital is another 25 mins. Then at the same sibling cluster like NUH, the specialist will again attend to the patient. Another half an hour. Still not an issue. The real issue here is the Specialist need to book the operating theatre which is shared by other equally important cases to be treated. So while the patient may have arrived in time. The facilities is really CMI Minimum waiting time to have an available operating theatre depends on the A&E load and the schedule at that time. So my best guess is 2 to 3 hours max from the time the doc says ok, I know what to do? Not necessary. From the near estimate, it can range from anything up to 6 to 8 hours. Franklie Tan Guang Wei abused the boy over five months, from November 2014 until March 2015, when the semi-conscious baby was rushed to hospital after Tan pushed him off the bed. The boy had sustained a skull fracture and bleeding in the brain. Now three, he is still in hospital undergoing therapy, including speech therapy and physiotherapy. The toddler, now in foster care, and his mother cannot be named due to a gag order. MOTHER LIED TO HIDE ABUSE A District Court heard Tan got together with the boy’s mother, 25, in August 2014. A month later, the baby’s caregivers noticed “a marked change” in his behavior. He had become fearful of males and had nightmares, Assistant Public Prosecutor Dillon Kok said. Caregivers Pe Bee Lian, 51, and her daughter Cadence Gee Shi Ting, 26, also began to notice bruises on the boy’s body whenever he spent time with his mother and Tan. When confronted, his mother denied he had been abused and blamed “spirits” for the bruises. Soon after discovering she was pregnant by Tan, the mother took the boy to live with Tan and his mother in their Bukit Batok flat on Nov 7, 2014. The next day, Tan abused the child for the first time. Frustrated by the baby’s cries, he slapped him, leaving marks on his cheek and a bruise near his left ear. When the boy’s mother returned him to caregivers Mdm Pe and Ms Gee a few days later, she lied that the baby’s face was swollen because he had fallen off the bed. The women took the boy to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) on November 19. Though his injuries had healed by then, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) were alerted to allegations that the baby might have been abused. BABY WAS THROWN ACROSS THE ROOM The baby was discharged on November 27 into the care of Mdm Pe, and his mother’s access to him was restricted – she was allowed weekly supervised visits at MSF. This was revoked in January 2015, when the baby was found with scratches on his thighs after his mother and Tan had spent time with him, APP Kok said. About a month later, the mother entered into a Voluntary Care Agreement (VCA) with Tan’s parents, giving them care of her child and supervised access for her and Tan. However, Tan’s father breached the VCA by leaving the baby alone with his mother and Tan on March 8, 2015. The same day, frustrated by the boy’s cries, Tan lifted the baby up roughly and threw him 2 metres across the room. A week later, when Tan’s parents claimed they could not fully care for the boy, the VCA was amended to allow his mother and Tan to bring himto their flat at night. However, Tan was not allowed unsupervised contact with the baby at all times. BABY WAS “FORCEFULLY PUSHED” OFF THE BED On Mar 25, Tan abused the boy again – the worst instance of abuse which would later land the baby in hospital. The boy’s mother woke up early that day to get ready for work, leaving Tan alone with the child. When the baby began to cry, Tan pounded him twice on his buttock, APP Kok told the court. An hour later, after he had been fed, the boy began to vomit. Despite this, his mother left for work and left Tan to look after the sick child. This was in breach of the new VCA, which expressly forbade Tan unsupervised contact with the baby. When the baby continued to vomit, Tan became frustrated and “forcefully pushed” him off the bed, APP Kok told the court. Tan said the boy “flew off the bed and landed face up about 2 metres away”. He picked the child up and took him to have a shower. Soon after, he realised the baby was “in a daze and appeared to be semi-conscious”. Tan called the boy’s mother, who returned home to find her child weak and pale. The couple rushed him to KKH. The baby was found to have suffered a skull fracture, and underwent emergency surgery to ease the swelling in his brain. Further examination revealed a host of other injuries, including wrist and collarbone fractures and bruises on the body, including on his eyelids. The baby had also suffered a superficial burn on his back. In court on Friday, Tan admitted he had not checked the temperature of the baby’s bathwater when he gave him a shower on March 25. MOTHER ACCUSED OF ALLOWING ABUSE The boy’s mother has also been charged for child abuse, for allowing her child to stay with Tan, knowing her boyfriend abused her baby. Her trial is scheduled for later this month. A psychiatric report for Tan is pending. He is expected to be sentenced on Sep 19. For child abuse, Tan faces up to four years’ jail and/or a fine of up to S$4,000 per charge.
