I'm sure some bro's company is going thru the abv mentioned exersice. After working 12+yrs in my current company, finally I may be on the chopping board soon. Just wondering, if being retrenched, is it compulsory for a company to give out payout, golden handshake, 1mth/1year and so on? Can a company just terminate you and pay you 1 mth and ask you to fly kite? Big MNC might have to cash to so call retrench you but how about smaller company? If they don't have the cash, probably they'll find a way to terminate you or even fire you.

4am in jb pump petrol. each driving 1 car. wear short short n tight fit.... i just finish msg n special, my didi still can immediately marikita. y r they risking their life, over abit of saving....i saw so many snatch thief n robbery in jb during daytime, no 1 bother to help or chase. in the middle of the night, they still treat that place like sg... slowly pump... slowly chit chat, pump finish petrol, pump tyre!! if they meet some thugs, do u think it only $$$$.... no... it going to be an experience they will nv forget in their whole fu(king life..... haiz...if any1 know them, tell them it not worth it.......

where i stay has its fair share of 'noisy' cars... most sound really good... drivers drive hm in the night as quiet as they can... thought can still hear the growl and hollow pipes, its really music to my ears... RPM at most 1-1.5... but bloody idiots who full blast their cars hm in the night, waking babies, are err... well.... idiots.... i mean reach home liao fcuk no need all your neighbours know how loud your car is... wait you get lightning designs on your car then you know..... anyways monday i saw an 'idiot'... really idiot... full blast brake for hump... full blast then brake for hump... all on bumpy bricks... somemore its 830am... and drive around the estate... wtf? then today while taking my lift down, i looked acrossed my blk and saw a traffic police bike parked on the top floor of the multi story car park opp... he was staring down at all the cars leaving for work... well it could be many reasons why he was there, check on traffic etc... but i'll bet its to catch the loud exhaust pipes... had a frd who had a TP waiting outside his hse and stopped him immediately as he rode out... many many years back at Catus road i think... thanks to idiots... now all other loud cars might get into hot soup as well... just a piece of advice, dont blast your car in your own car park area... you irritate others more than you know it... not everyone like to hear nice exhaust tunes... but i do... keke...

But Chen said the girl whose voice was actually heard by the 91,000 capacity crowd at the main Olympic stadium was in fact seven-year-old Yang Peiyi, who has a chubby face and uneven teeth. "The reason why little Yang was not chosen to appear was because we wanted to project the right image, we were thinking about what was best for the nation," Chen said in the interview that appeared briefly on the popular news website Sina.com on Tuesday before it was wiped from the Internet. Lin was seen to perform the patriotic song "Ode to the Motherland" as China's national flag was carried into the stadium, a key moment in the three hour opening ceremony. Uphill climb Down Under for some S'pore investments ABC Learning, Australand struggle but Optus manages to hold its own By SIOW LI SEN (SINGAPORE) It's not only in the US but in Australia too that the global credit crunch has hurt some of Temasek Holdings' investments. The price of ABC Learning, the world's largest listed childcare provider has collapsed almost 90 per cent from when Temasek first bought into the company in May 2007 at A$7.30 a share. Yesterday, the troubled ABC closed at 82.5 Aussie cents. ABC has been selling assets to pay off its debt of A$1.7 billion (S$2.2 billion) - loans it took to fund its rapid expansion last year in the United States. ABC is aiming to raise A$800 million from sales in the US and the UK. Temasek Holdings had first invested A$401.5 million for a 12 per cent stake in ABC in May last year. Then early this year, as the stock of ABC plunged, Temasek raised its stake to 14.7 per cent. Temasek said in a statement to the Australian stock exchange that it paid between A$2.14 and A$4.20 per share for the nearly 12 million shares it bought mainly in February. But its holding in ABC has been pared back slightly to 12.68 per cent after the childcare provider completed an A$82 million equity placement in June. Lazard Asset Management is now ABC's largest shareholder with 12.93 per cent, followed by Temasek. Another Temasek-related entity that needs money is Australand, a property company which has announced a one-for-one rights issue at A$0.60 a share to raise A$557 million. CapitaLand, which owns 54 per cent of Australand, is committing A$302 million to the rights issue and if all minorities do not take up their entitlements, CapitaLand's stake could increase to 70 per cent, said a JP Morgan report yesterday. This week, Australand said property revaluation and project writedown have resulted in a 79 per cent year-on-year fall in net profit to A$25.6 million for the half-year ended June 30, 2008. The assets are located predominantly in Sydney, which Australand says has continued to 'suffer more difficult market conditions with no improvement forecast in the short to medium term'. Australand, acquired by CapitaLand's predecessor DBS Land in 1994, went public in 1997 and is listed in Singapore too, where it is rarely traded. In 2003, it was restructured into a property trust. Australand last traded at 97.5 Aussie cents and has fallen almost 60 per cent year to date. A Temasek spokeswoman said 'no comment' when asked how it viewed the performance of its investments in Australia. But one Australian asset owned by Temasek-linked company Singapore Telecommunications that has done relatively well is its unit Optus, the second largest telco after Telstra. SingTel is now listed in Australia, after it bought Optus in 2001. Last year, Optus's revenue of A$7.8 billion made up 67 per cent of SingTel's group revenue of S$14.8 billion. SingTel yesterday closed here at $3.57, down 11 per cent year to date outperforming the benchmark Straits Times Index, which is down more than 15 per cent.

There was this bunch of teenage kids who hunkered down at one corner and the language emanating from their corner...never order anything WTF this...fxxk that...chxxbexx that lah...so fxxking good...nahbeh...conversation veered from soccer to PCC to WOW...(basically making a nuisance of themselves in a very audible way) A lot of local and foreigner families were there and all suddenly starting eating faster and left. Maybe i too unker liao...cannot understand attitude and sensitivies of Gen Z. But then got toddlers around, why cannot adjust the language and topic? Do these kids represent our future?

Clerk jailed for helping man deposit $1.2 m into her accounts Elena Chong Mon, Nov 12, 2007 The Straits Times A WOMAN was jailed for three months on Monday for helping a man deposit $1.2 million worth of cheques into her bank accounts. Sim Hwei Kian, 30, then withdrew $1.18 million and handed it over to 'Kevin' who had offered her $500 for each bank account opened and a further 0.5 per cent commission for each transaction. After one year, 'Kevin'' also promised to give her $10,000 when the accounts were to be closed. The Singapore Turf Club clerk, who was in financial trouble, agreed. She had earlier posted messages on the Internet seeking financial loans. Among the many replies she got was one from 'Kevin'. 'Kevin' had also informed her that the bank accounts were to receive 4D and soccer bet collections, but in fact, the money had been misappropriated. The four cheques had been cut from the cheque books of ConocoPhillips Asia Ventures and ConocoPhillips International and the signatures had been forged. Sim pleaded guilty to a charge under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act which carries a fine of up to $200,000 or a jail term of up to seven years, or both. On Sept 24, she deposited four cheques slotted under her door into her bank accounts. The total was $1.23 million. Over the next two days, she withdrew the money totalling $1.18 million over seven occasions. She bundled them into bags and placed them at a staircase landing for 'Kevin' to collect. On Sept 25, she withdrew $5,000 for her own use. This amount has been recovered. Her lawyer, Mr Satwant Singh, said Sim was not the mastermind nor did she benefit from the crime. Sim, who had failed her Primary School Leaving Examination twice, had never seen 'Kevin' at all. All she knew was that she was helping him with his illegal football bets.
