Hi, just to check, if i buy the Toyota Camry 2.0 (A) Understand it does not come with HID Headlights, Is it an offence if installed? Kam sia

Hi all, My car has this problem of the HID light turning off and on again by itself. The left one will turn off and turn on almost instantly, and then the right one will follow suit. What could the problem be? I have done the rewiring, changed to a 2nd hand ballast but the problem still persist. Need your kind advice. Thanks!

The agency is aiming for all light bulbs in Singapore to be, minimally, as energy efficient as LED bulbs from 2023 onwards, it said in a media release on Friday (Oct 26). Under the current MEPS regulations, halogen or incandescent bulbs, which account for about 5 per cent of all regulated lamps sold in Singapore, must attain a one-tick rating, and LED bulbs must attain a two-tick rating. From Nov 1, 2019, all bulbs, incandescent or LED, must attain a two-tick rating on their Energy Label when brought into Singapore for sale. Anyone who flouts the MEPS regulations when they come into force will be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding S$10,000. The NEA will also introduce two enhancements to the Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS) - more than 80 per cent of lamps sold in Singapore will be covered, and displaying of energy labels in all publicity materials, physical or digital, is now mandatory. These will take effect on Nov 1, 2019. “It is important for consumers to be able to differentiate energy-saving products, such as LED lamps, from less energy efficient products," said Mr William Song, the sales marketing head at LEDVANCE, a lighting supplier. "This allows them to make informed choices and benefit from the greater durability, light quality and lower energy consumption of LED lamps, which results in cost savings for families in the long run.

Hi all, This morning, I realized that one of my HID light becomes purplish in color. Any idea what is wrong with the bulb? Does that means is time to change? If yes, any idea where can I get them and how much it cost? My is Honda Stream and wondering what are the maximum legalized brightness level that I can go? Thanks.

Recently i've replaced my HID bulbs but it burst within a week. Anyone know the reason? Only one side burst. the other side is working. Noticed it when i heard a loud buzz sound. Went out of the car to look and one of the bulbs burst. Replaced the bulb as it was under warranty, however, the shop told me they will no longer replace the bulbs for me as they have never encountered this before. And stated that it could be my ballast that isn't compatible with the bulb. They would only honor the warranty if i purchase a pair of ballast from them. But i decided not to and told them i wouldn't claim the warranty if the bulbs were to burst again. Would like to check if there such a thing of incompatible ballast? Anyway it isn't an issue for me as if it were to burst again, i would not be claiming the warranty too as it is too troublesome and the owner suspected i tampered with the bulb (i know nuts about the bulbs so there's no way for me to tamper with it). But anyone know the reason why? Googled but no results. *The person installing did not touch the bulbs as i was observing throughout the time he was installing

Hi Can anyone recomend a good place to buy and install HID headlamp bulbs? And what is the cost? I found my right side headlamp not working last night, I switched the fuse around the left & right side one but its no use (fuse is not blown, works on the left side.) Thanks in advance!

A lot of us have been irritated by cars / esp Jap and Korean SUVs with these after market HIDs coming up behind you or even against you. They almost blind you . . . . . Just thinking out aloud.. Currently most aftermarket (Hi-Intensity Discharge) HID lamps are 35W producing output of around 2800-3200 lumens. This is 2x the light intensity of standard 55W halogen bulbs (between 1200 - 1600 lumens), which generates alot of glare (safety hazard) when it is loosely focused and dispersed by the ordinary reflectors and covers for halogen headlamps. Projector headlamps and auto-levelling mechanisms can focus and cut-off the beam very nicely, but these are costly and unique to every make/model compared to standard halogen lighting, hence manufacturers are slow to adopt/implement. This makes HID conversion infeasible for most existing vehicles too, as they are simply not equipped or designed for HID. Even properly focused aftermarket HID conversions will generate perceivable glare in a standard halogen reflector headlamp housing. Another problem with HID conversion is it requires a high power surge when starting up, which exceeds the specifications for the standard halogen lighting and may require additional relays and wiring harnesses to address the heat and fire safety issues. I'm no HID expert, but if the power is reduced to a 20-25W, will that make the light output on par with standard halogen systems? Does that mean that with proper focusing during installation, revised power draw limits (controlled via ballast), HID conversion would work within the same specifications as standard halogen bulb, but at almost 300% efficiency and with a much wider selection range of colors? The presence of HID torches in various wattage and output levels will prove that what I suggested is already technically possible. Not sure if there are important factors that I have omitted, but if the glare and power draw issues can be addressed without the need for new/fancy technology such as Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS), perhaps these can become the basis for making aftermarket HID legal, as in the case of fog lamps? Otherwise at least it could be subject to approval like turbo/super charging, rather than outright illegal?

My headlight is originally HID. However the foglights and indicators light are way too yellowish in color. Can anyone advise whether i should go got 4300k or 5000k for my foggies and indicator in order to match my color of my HID. My ride is a 09 WRX hatchback.

I turn my HID light to auto and sometime, one side of the lamp will flicker and go off.....I turn off and on again...the light comes on....anyone know whether it is bulb or HID circuit issue?

I have just install my car with HID and the beam is like scattered all over.Immediately I fix back my halogen bulb.Now,I've a question.How come only my car install with HID,the beam will be all over the place,whereas other people car which is the same model as mine,wouldn't have that kind of beam scattered all over.Can some HID expert enlighten me on this issue?Is it my bulb issue?I really had enough of the beam shooting everywhere.I've re-align my headlight,now the throw of the light is even shorter than what the halogen does,and the scatter beam still shoot onto those road sign.Though it's not direct beam,but somehow I feel,something can be done to solve this.Forummer,pls help!

Today i tried installing a HID kit. Found out that my H7 comes with an adapter and my hid with all its wires cant fit into it. So it is impossible to hook the bulb tightly into my lamp casing. Im looking for a spacer. Anywhere sells it? Something like this

Ex-Toyota lawyer says documents prove company hid damaging information By Deborah Feyerick and Sheila Steffen, CNN STORY HIGHLIGHTS Lawyer kept internal documents that he says could be damaging to Toyota Biller says he quit because of what he alleges were "criminal acts" by Toyota He said Toyota settled one lawsuit to avoid divulging information Los Angeles, California (CNN ) -- When former in-house defense attorney Dimitrios Biller resigned from his top post at Toyota, he walked out with something potentially more valuable than his nearly $4 million severance package. He took some 6,000 internal documents, including memos and e-mails potentially damaging to his former employer. "Not potentially, they are. They are very damaging," Biller said. Biller, now entangled in litigation with the auto giant, defended the company in product liability and negligence cases from 2003 to 2007. He says he quit because of what he alleges were "criminal acts" by Toyota -- specifically, withholding information the company was legally required to turn over to plaintiffs' lawyers during litigation. "There is a regular pattern and practice of not producing memos, minutes, reports, and e-mails," Biller said. "These documents can be used to establish liability against Toyota in product liability and negligence cases." The documents -- some of which were reviewed by CNN -- were sent by Biller to Toyota officials. There are numerous references to so-called "Books of Knowledge," highly confidential information on design, safety systems and testing records allegedly generated by Toyota engineers on everything from roll-overs and roof safety to sudden unintended acceleration. The chairman of a U.S. House committee investigating Toyota seems to agree with Biller, saying Toyota engaged in a "systematic disregard for the law and routine violation of court discovery orders in litigation." Rep. Edolphus Towns, D-New York, whose committee subpoenaed Biller's documents, said "The material, I must admit, is very, very disturbing." Toyota defends its actions, saying, "We are confident that we have acted appropriately with respect to all product liability litigation." Yet so far, the company has fought to keep the documents confidential and away from court cases -- like Pennie Green's. The Texas native was 17 and driving to see a movie with her cousin when her life instantly changed. "I didn't make it," she said. A car turned in front of Green and, with no time to react, her 1997 Camry swerved, rolled over and landed upside down. "When I opened my eyes, my nose felt like it was almost touching my belly button I was so curled up." Green never walked again. In 2005 she filed suit against Toyota, claiming the roof was defective because it didn't withstand the weight of the car like it should have. Biller defended Toyota in that rollover case, brought by Green's lawyer, Jeff Embry. "We certainly requested everything that had any relevance to our case at all and, in fact, we had to go to the court to have Toyota ordered to provide their information," said Embry, who added Toyota provided just enough information to show Toyota vehicles "met the minimum standards." Green's case settled in 2006 for $1.5 million. Included in Biller's documents is an e-mail he said he sent to his bosses summarizing negotiations. It says, "TMS [Toyota Motor Sales USA] concluded that it would be better to pay a premium to settle this case and avoid producing the 'Books of Knowledge.'" Embry said he had no idea how close he'd come to uncovering Toyota's alleged secrets. "I think they were very careful to keep design information, very important information in Japan, out of reach of our system as much as possible," he said. Although Toyota calls the materials "trade secrets," Embry said, "That doesn't mean that you get to keep them a secret from the court system." So why, if Biller knew a judge had ordered all information produced, didn't he produce it? He said he tried but was stopped by a superior who told him, "You have to protect the client at all costs." "Even if that includes," Biller asked, "committing criminal acts or violating the law?" The answer, Biller said, was yes. Did he break the law? "No, I did as much as I could as a lawyer for a client to not break the law," he said. "I wrote e-mail after e-mail, memo after memo, explaining the legal obligations Toyota and its affiliates needed to fulfill." In response to Biller's documents and his allegations, Toyota spokeswoman Cindy Knight released this statement: "Mr. Biller continues to make inaccurate and misleading allegations about Toyota's conduct that we strongly dispute and will continue to fight against vigorously." The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has allowed HID headlamps to be fitted on vehicles because such headlamps have been used worldwide and they are purpose-built by vehicle manufacturers to ensure that they are safe. Like other headlamps, HID headlamps must comply with the relevant safety standards and be properly installed and aligned. HID headlamps are more energy efficient and can improve the visibility of drivers as compared with standard halogen lamps. A motorist using a HID lamp system is able to see up to 100 metres to the front of the vehicle, compared to about 58 metres with standard halogen lighting With the increasing trend on the use of HID headlamps, there has been feedback from motorists that such headlamps are brighter and tend to cause glare. In an attempt to reduce the propensity of glare caused by HID headlamps to other road users, some vehicle manufacturers have incorporated an auto-levelling feature, which automatically adjusts the headlamp angle and direction based on road and driving conditions. With effect from 1 January 2010, LTA will require all newly registered vehicles, except motorcycles, fitted with HID headlamps to be equipped with an auto-levelling feature.

Why are there people who are so sua ku about HID? Whenever i am travelling behind them ... they thought i am high beaming them cos my headlight is super power duper bright... then they either jam brake, point middle finger, slow down, one toyata even better... slow down .. move to 2nd lane and get behind me and high beam me all the way from Bukit panjang to Yishun. I mean i am not high beaming anyone.. i just have a high end headlight leh

wana ask some qn about HID as we all know HID are divided by its colour temperature of 4300k, 6000k, 8000k. is the color temperature determined by bulb or the ballast. meaning if i got a HID kit of 6000k, but i wana it to be more bluish, so wana change to 8000k, so the bulb to be change or the ballast has to be change, or both has to be change. know about philip is a good one but price wise is too steep, any cheaper and brand which ur haf used b4 to recommend, thanks.
