  1. When Bill Shankley say football is more than life & death, this guy took it literally. From Soccernet: An Arsenal fan hung himself following his team's 4-1 aggregate drubbing by arch-rivals Manchester United in the Champions League semi-final, police said. Arsenal lost 3-1 to United in the second leg of their semi-final tie. Suleiman Alphonso Omondi, a 29-year-old Kenyan living in the capital Nairobi's Embakasi neighbourhood, hanged himself in his Arsenal shirt after the match. "We were watching the match at Bamba 70 pub, and when Arsenal was defeated, Suleiman just walked out in protest and he was crying," Calvin Otieno, one of his friends, said. "We didn't know he was going to hang himself until this morning when we received the reports and came here to find his body at the balcony," Otieno said outside the deceased's home. Arsenal slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, capping a disappointing season for the Gunners who were already out of the Premier League title race early in the season.
  2. This weekend EPL (Sunday, 21/12/08) will see Liverpool playing away to Arsenal....... Who will eventually emerge the winner ? My prediction is another disappointment draw for Liverpool ..... Arsenal currently having takeover speculation as reported at ESPN. ESPN Soccernet reports: The departure of major shareholder Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith from the company board was announced last night, along with Richard Carr, a director for 27 years. Arsenal are the last remaining member of the Premier League 'big four' to be in British ownership, and the board all signed up to a lockdown agreement meaning the first option on any sale of shares must be given to existing board members until 2012, so as to stave off any potential hostile bid from outside. However, Hill-Wood could offer no guarantees of where Lady Bracewell-Smith's holding may eventually now end up. American sports tycoon Stan Kroenke, who holds around a 12% stake in the Gunners parent company, accepted the offer to become a non-executive director on the Arsenal board in September as ties with his Kroenke Sports Enterprises group were strengthened, and he could be tempted to invest further. However, Uzbekistan metals magnate Alisher Usmanov - who bought into Arsenal when he paid former vice-chairman David Dein around
  3. From soccernet.com Liverpool stayed on top of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory against Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday that heaped more pressure on Rovers manager Paul Ince. Ince's side may have not won in ten league matches but they provided a stern test for Liverpool until Xabi Alonso scored the breakthrough goal after 69 minutes. A strike from Yossi Benayoun quickly followed and Steven Gerrard completed the victory with the Red's third goal after Roque Santa Cruz scored for Rovers four minutes from time. Meanwhile, Chelsea beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 at the Reebok Stadium to set a new record of eleven consecutive away wins in the English top-flight. A goal from Nicolas Anelka and a spectacular bicycle kick from Deco helped the Blues eclipse the record of 10 straight away wins set by Tottenham Hotspur in 1960. Manchester United needed a last gasp equalizer from centre-back Nemanja Vidic to beat managerless Sunderland 1-0 at Old Trafford. Despite going all out in attack United looked as though they would be forced to settle for a draw as the Black Cats bravely battled through a goalless 90 minutes but when Michael Carrick's shot came back off the post Vidic was there to tap-in the winner. Arsenal kept pace with the top three after beating Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the Emirates with a first-half goal from Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togo striker, making his second start after returning from an ankle injury, struck in the 16th minute and could have added to his tally only to be denied by Chris Kirkland and the woodwork. Elsewhere, Abdoulaye Faye returned to haunt Newcastle United with an injury-time equaliser as Stoke City completed a remarkable fight back to draw 2-2 at St James' Park. Michael Owen had given the Magpies a two goal lead within the opening 24 minutes, but Mamady Sidibe dragged the visitors back into the game on the hour and Faye secured the draw. Hull City produced a dramatic late 2-1 comeback to snatch victory over 10-man Middlesbrough at the KC Stadium. Boro looked on course for their first Premier League win in four games when Tuncay Sanli flicked his side ahead 11 minutes from time. Yet Hull responded immediately with Bernard Mendy's drive hitting a post and rebounding in off Ross Turnbull and Marlon King scoring a penalty after David Wheater was sent off. Jimmy Bullard scored his first league goal of the season to earn Fulham a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City, who had taken the lead through Benjani Mwaruwari's early header, and extend their unbeaten run to five matches. It is going to be an interesting title race. One thing for sure, Ince probably be out of Blackburn's hot seat before the turn of the year.
  4. Gunner youth squad is running out of bullets and is firing blanks (kana 3-0 by ManCity)........... (Wed - 2.30am) Villarreal v Man Utd Arsenal v Dynamo Kiev (Thu - 2.30am) Bordeaux v Chelsea Liverpool v Marseille
  5. Ha...ha...ha..., even before the highly charged match, Liverpool are already nervous about this Sunday match against their bitter rival - Arsenal. Their goalkeeper (Reds) Jose Reina spoke before the match aganist the Gunners. Sign of trouble ahead. As reported in ESPN Soccernet:- "Jose Reina insists Liverpool must use Sunday's tough clash with Arsenal to get their act together in time for a late charge in Europe. Liverpool are facing the prospect of not qualifying from the Champions League group stages following their disastrous defeat by Besiktas on Wednesday. Now they face leaders Arsenal at Anfield in a clash of the Premier League's only remaining unbeaten clubs. Spanish goalkeeper Reina said: 'We believed we played a good game in Istanbul, to be honest, we were just very unlucky in front of goal. 'But it is not good at all, that is clear. We must keep going and try to improve. 'We must now concentrate on a very important game against Arsenal. We can put things right if we can beat them.'" So............. let me starts the ball rolling. Will Liverpool beat against Arsenal ? Although I am a Liverpool supporter, I am afraid that tomorrow clash would be Liverpool 1st lost of the season. . Today The New Paper (page 70) stated that "At Anfield, Reds are bulletproof" but Gunners are using cannon............
