Vu Han Jean-Luc Kha, a 44-year-old French national, pleaded guilty in a district court to a charge each of voluntarily causing hurt and intentionally causing alarm to the boy. The court heard that the incident happened on Nov 22, 2019 at around 8.15pm at the Parklane Shopping Mall along Selegie Road. Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Goh Yong Ngee said Vu Han was intoxicated when he entered the mall’s lift together with another man, Mr Lai Wing Chiew, 41. Both the victim and his 12-year-old brother were in the lift when the two men entered. Neither of the boys can be named as a gag order has been imposed by the courts to protect their identities. The court heard that Vu Han asked the victim whether he had hair on his private parts. When the victim replied “no”, Vu Han asked the boy if he wanted to see his private parts. When the boy again said “no”, Vu Han responded by saying he could arrange for a sexual act to be performed on the boy. DPP Goh said the victim was “alarmed by the insults” and said no to Vu Han yet again, which prompted the man to punch the boy on the head. The impact from the blow caused the boy to fall backwards and hit his arm against a handrail in the lift. Vu Han then proceeded to hurl a string of vulgarities at the boy. “Fearing for his safety, the victim grabbed the accused’s hands to prevent him from hitting him again,” said DPP Goh. “The accused then said, ‘You want to challenge me? You have no hair on your (private parts) why do you want to challenge me?’” Mr Lai tried to hold Vu Han back and pushed him out of the lift when it reached the ground floor. The court heard that Vu Han refused to leave and used his foot to stop the lift doors from closing so he could slap the 13-year-old’s face. A 36-year-old man, Mr Daryl Lai, witnessed the assault while he was sitting at a cafe nearby and went forward to find out what was happening before he detained Vu Han and called the police. While the attack had only left bruises on the boy’s temple and arm, DPP Goh noted that it had caused significant psychological harm, so much so that the boy still fears being in a lift. Vu Han’s defence lawyer, Ms Ee-von Teh of Infinitus Law Corporation, said her client had been “facing a series of unique circumstances in his personal and professional life”. Aside from having separated from his common-law wife, Ms Teh said he also had to cope with the pressure of his business and being a single parent. Ms Teh said Vu Han was also experiencing “uncharacteristic changes in the way his body functions”. While she did not elaborate further on this point, she said he had also been worried and irritable on the day of the incident. She added that the attack on the boy was prompted by something “irksome” the teenager had said, though Vu Han could not recall what it was. Ms Teh said Vu Han had been talking to Mr Lai about vice-related activities at the mall at the time. In response, DPP Goh clarified the attack was unprovoked and the boy had not said anything to Vu Han. Ms Teh reiterated her client’s position that he heard the victim say something. In any case, Ms Teh said the incident had “precipitated reflection” on the part of her client. She added that the accused had subsequently sought psychiatric help and was initially diagnosed with adjustment disorder. He later sought treatment at the Institute of Mental Health where he was found to be suffering from bipolar disorder. Ms Teh said her client was likely experiencing a manic episode at the time of the offences. DPP Goh later said that the medical report that Ms Teh was relying on did not show how Vu Han’s mental condition had contributed to the offence. In response to TODAY’s queries, The Prive Group said Vu Han remains its CEO, and is currently actively taking care of the group and helping it stay afloat amidst the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions. “Mr Vu Han Jean-Luc Kha remains a valuable member of our management team and has our full and unwavering support. The case is still ongoing and we have been advised not to comment on the case,” it said. Vu Han will return to court for mitigation and sentencing in December. Anyone found guilty of causing alarm under the Protection from Harassment Act is liable to be punished with a fine of up to S$5,000 or jailed up to six months, or both. The punishment for voluntarily causing hurt is jail term of up to two years, or a fine of up to S$5,000 or both.

She previously worked at the Hawke's Bay Hospital's emergency department for three years before moving on to The Doctors clinic to practice. Her medical licence was revoked following her sexual assault charges. Lim currently identifies as female and goes by she/her pronouns. She is in the process of transitioning from male to female. Lim's stay in New Zealand has come to an end following the completion of her five-year prison sentence According to NZ Herald, due to her denial of the charges, she did not receive offence-focused treatment, which aims to reduce the risk of sex offenders repeating their crimes. Because she did not go through the psychological intervention program, the court decided to deny Lim's release from prison and she was deported back to Malaysia on 1 June. According to the parole board of New Zealand, Lim will not be allowed to return to New Zealand. The person she would live with in Malaysia is aware of the charges, but believes Lim is innocent.

My car waiting stationary in line to enter a carpark was hit by a careless motorist exiting a carpark. 2 weeks later, I found out from the 3rd party investigator that she claimed that my car hit hers while entering the carpark. Fortunately I managed to get the carpark CCTV recording (after a lot of trouble/time spent) showing the truth. What is the best way to penalize such a liar? I am rather pissed off that she attempted to paint me as the guilty one. I want justice. If a person make a false police report, if found out, sure kena punished. A 38-year-old man yesterday pleaded guilty to raping and sodomising his half-sister with the help of his wife. The former car grooming coordinator at a petrol kiosk also pleaded guilty to one count of possession of obscene films. The accused, who has been charged with four counts of rape and six of sexual assault, assaulted his half-sister over two days between March 12 and 14 in 2010. The victim, a 21-year-old factory worker, shares the same mother with the accused and is mildly mentally retarded. She was sent to the accused's home, after her other half-brother and his wife, with whom she was living, were upset she wanted to quit her job as a counter staff. At about midnight, the accused told the girl he wanted "to punish her" and wanted her to "feel pain". He told her to remove her clothes, proceeded to remove his and told her to turn around. He then instructed his wife to hold on to the girl's legs and raped her. Throughout the night, the girl pleaded with the accused not to hurt her. He ignored her and at one point hit her head with an ashtray. The victim was unable to run away from the accused's flat the next day as she was watched over by his wife while the accused went to work. When he returned, the accused told his wife to put on a pornographic movie and called for the girl to sit beside him. He then had sexual intercourse with his wife, forcing the victim to "watch and learn from them". Later in the night, he sodomised her. She was subsequently conveyed to the KK Women's and Children's Hospital and a genital examination revealed a ripped vulva and swollen anus. The case has been adjourned for mitigation next Monday. Bertrand Ngien Wen-Tseah, 37, was faced with eight charges, including trespassing a female toilet, destroying evidence and outrage of modesty when was a science teacher at Yuhua Secondary School. According to the Chinese dailies, he had installed three pinhole cameras in one of the school's girls' toilet on the fourth level around 7am on Feb 15. Shin Min Daily News reported that at least three girls were secretly filmed. A student discovered a camera in the toilet and alerted a staff member, who later found two more similar devices in other cubicles in the same toilet, reported The New Paper. The staff member placed the cameras in the staffroom and left the room. Around 1pm on the same day, Ngien entered the staffroom and saw the cameras on the school's operations manager's table. He knew that his deeds have been discovered and decided to destroy the evidence. An hour later, when the office was empty, he removed the three micro SD memory cards. When the school discovered the memory cards were missing, footage from the closed-circuit television camera installed in the staffroom was checked and Ngien was seen removing the memory cards. He was called back to the school on that afternoon, and on the way there, he threw away memory cards into a storm drain. He confessed to the principal, who told Ngien to return home, saying he was going to report the matter to the police, according to Lianhe Wanbao. When he reached home, Ngien threw away the laptop which he had viewed the recordings on. The $443 laptop had been issued by the Ministry of Education and Ngien has since refunded the cost. Ngien pleaded through his lawyer that his wife had suffered from mental illnesses which resulted in him developing depression. He claimed to have sought psychiatric help in 2009, and is current seeking treatment with the Institute of Mental Health. He said he was remorseful for committing the offence. Kheng Kok Keong, 34, pleaded guilty in a district court on Monday to four charges of harassment. Seventeen other charges will be taken into consideration by the judge when passing sentence on Thursday. A district court heard that from June last year, he had scribbled 'O$P$' - shorthand for 'Owe money, pay money' - on walls, splashed paint on flats or used super glue to seal up keyholes to prevent the occupants from unlocking doors or gates, 21 times. Investigations revealed that Kheng had an outstanding loan with an illegal moneylender known only as Ah Seng, and agreed to harass other debtors in return of $2,000 to be deducted from his debt every month. His lawyer G. Dinagaran said that his client had racked up losses after visiting the Resorts World casino and was forced to borrow from a loanshark. It was the incessant harassment by Ah Seng's runners that forced Kheng to agree to be a runner too, the lawyer explained. Kheng, who was last serving as a logistics officer and drawing a monthly salary of $5,000, will also lose his career of 14 years with this conviction, Mr Dinagaran added. SINGAPORE : A teenager has pleaded guilty to three counts of molest - with one of the victims being an 11-year-old girl. Eighteen-year-old Muhammad Sadiq Syed Kadir entered a lift with her at Block 45, Chai Chee Street at 5.40pm on January 27 last year. Shortly after the doors closed, he grabbed hold of her t-shirt and pushed her backwards, causing her to fall to the floor. Muhammad Sadiq then pulled down the girl's shorts and molested her. He stopped touching her by the time the doors opened. However, the girl managed to tell a man who was standing outside the lift about her ordeal. The man threw a punch at Muhammad Sadiq and a scuffle soon broke out between the two. The teenager broke his nose in the fight and the man brought him to a Singapore Civil Defence Force fire post located at the void deck of the block of flats. Muhammad Sadiq was taken to a hospital and the police arrived not long afterwards to interview the girl. The court also heard that he had molested a 19-year-old girl in a lift at Block 19 Chai Chee Road at around 11.45pm on 16 August 2008. Deputy Public Prosecutor Sanjiv Vaswani told District Judge Soh Tze Bian that Muhammad Sadiq had also molested a 17-year-old girl at around 3pm on August 28 last year. She was sitting in an SBS bus service 7, which was going towards Bedok Interchange, when Muhammad Sadiq sat down behind her. He then pretended to fall asleep and used his fingers to touch her left breast. The girl reported the matter to the bus captain who detained Muhammad Sadiq at the control station of Bedok Interchange. The judge has called for a probation as well as a Reformative Training Centre report. Muhammad Sadiq will appear again in court on July 21. SINGAPORE - A 22-year-old National Serviceman pleaded guilty in a district court yesterday to pushing and using vulgarities on a senior tester at a driving centre. Eric Lim Guo Yong had gone to the Singapore Safety Driving Centre in Ang Mo Kio Street 62 on Nov 4 last year to take the basic theory test. But when he failed to produce his identity card or passport, senior tester Abdul Wahid Shariff stopped him. Lim had lost his military identity card and turned up with a temporary one. Unhappy, Lim raised his voice and demanded to take the test. When Mr Abdul Wahid, 57, asked him to leave the room, Lim hurled vulgarities at him and shoved him three times - an act captured by closed- circuit cameras. Lim only left the premises when the tester's colleagues came to help. For threatening, abusing or insulting a public servant, Lim can be jailed for up to a year or fined $5,000. For using criminal force on another person, he can be jailed up to three months and fined $1,500. The case will be mentioned again on March 5. When asked to enter a plea after the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was read to her, Goh Hai Eng said: "I do not know." After clarifying with her lawyer, Goh, 52, replied: "I've nothing to say." A further round of clarification took place before the bespectacled woman replied with a guilty plea. Goh had stabbed Eunice Chew Li Xin to death on March 19 last year in their one-room Woodlands flat. Goh was depressed over her second divorce and the sale of her matrimonial flat just before the incident, the High Court heard. Goh, who is also a grandmother, constantly worried about money and told her family she would kill Eunice and later commit suicide. "The accused even asked the deceased how she would like to die," said Deputy Public Prosecutor Crystal Ong. A day before the incident, Goh - who was treated for bipolar disorder at the Institute of Mental Health in 1999 - refused to go for a medical appointment at IMH with her eldest daughter. Later that evening, Goh called her elder sister to tell her she "was not in a good mood". If she were to die, Goh added, her elder sister could take a television rack from her flat. Several hours later, at about 2am on March 19, Goh began thinking about killing herself and taking Eunice with her. "She did not want the deceased to live without her as she thought that no one would take care of her," said DPP Ong. Goh then took a fruit knife and stabbed Eunice once in her chest while she was sleeping. Eunice woke up immediately and Goh hugged her. The mother then pulled the knife out of the girl's chest and threw it away. Eunice cried loudly but Goh walked away. When she heard Eunice take her last breath, she stood up and touched the deceased's face. Realising that Eunice was dead, a terrified Goh called her eldest daughter and her elder sister, and told them she had killed Eunice. The police were then alerted, but Eunice was pronounced dead at 3.06am. According to a psychiatric report prepared by Dr Gwee Kok Peng, Goh was suffering from a severe depressive episode of a bipolar disorder since 1999, but had stopped her medication since October 2008. At the time of the offence, Goh was of sound mind, but the mental illness did significantly impair her judgment, opined Dr Gwee. High Court Judge Kan Ting Chiu directed the prosecution to obtain a further report from Dr Gwee on his findings of diminished responsibility. Also, Justice Kan wanted to know Dr Gwee's assessment on Goh's recovery if she had taken regular and sustained medication. No date has been set for the next hearing. Former Ren Ci head, ex-aide Raymond Yeung found guilty of forging payment slips SINGAPORE: A district court has found the former head of Ren Ci Hospital, Ming Yi and his former aide Raymond Yeung, guilty of falsifying Ren Ci payment vouchers. District Court judge Toh Yung Cheong also convicted them for giving false information to the Commissoner of Charities. The pair will be sentenced on November 11. For offences under the Penal code and Charities Act, they could be fined and jailed. RECENTLY crowned Miss Singapore World Ris Low, 19, had earlier been found guilty of credit-card fraud. The beauty queen was convicted of five charges of misappropriation, cheating using illegally obtained credit cards, and impersonating their users' identities. The first-time offender was sentenced in May this year to 24 months of supervised probation, said a Subordinate Courts spokesman in response to a query from my paper. Another 60 charges were taken into consideration for the purposes of sentencing, he said. Court documents show that Miss Low spent a total of more than $2,400 on at least four separate occasions, using at least three different credit cards in April and May last year. my paper understands that her previous employer, a health-care company, made a police report about her in April last year. It suspected that Miss Low, who worked there for five months as a patient-service assistant, had used credit cards belonging to its patients. It asked her to leave the following month. Before leaving, she was said to have returned a part - an unspecified sum - of the total amount she had spent using the cards. When contacted, Miss Low, now a student, said that she was "not in a position to comment". The international Miss World pageant will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December. Ok I admit I hv a habit of leaving my bags unattended but I only do after taking out important things like wallet, handphone, keys. However, we hv always presume that crowded areas, unlikely places for thieves to strike but it is not true to say that "most dangerous is the safest". It probably is true for those thieves cos everyone is so engrossed in their own affair and locals generally are not that observant let alone civic-minded. Therefore, let's try to make an efforts to keep our soil safe as not all non-locals are here for sightseeing. The couple, a 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, targeted items left unattended by shoppers at shopping malls and eateries, a police statement said on Thursday. After several probes and numerous stakeouts, police spotted the couple behaving suspiciously at a hotel along Orchard Rd on Aug 28. The couple was caught red handed when they took a handbag left unattended on a chair at the hotel's coffee outlet. The victim's belongings, valued at about $1,000, were recovered intact. An assortment of items such as gold jewellery, laptops, handphones, perfumes and handbags valued at about $20,000 - believed to belong to victims of other thefts - were also subsequently recovered from the couple. Dunno why I felt guilty or rather am afraid that my ride will have problems as for my 20K km servicing, (now already close to 26K Km)I merely replaced the EO, EO filter, air filter and spark plugs w/o doing other maintenance checks.
