I am just thinking that we have been using combustion engine (be it rotary or piston) for such a long time. All that way done is to make more power, use less petrol and maybe last longer. However, no matter how much you improve the engine, its still a very inefficient and rather old-fashioned piece of machinery. I am wonder if we could just ditch this combustion engine altogether and go for something better. We have hybrid cars etc but I feel progress has been very slow. Perhaps we need some breakthrough in technology to really come up with a good powerplant to replace the combustion engine.
