  1. I just tried to register my kid for P1 yesterday but the system keep telling me that the data I entered did not match their database. So after the fifth time, I called MOE instead and waited for about 10 minutes before my que number was up. Spoke to the executive and was told that there was one clause which prevented me from using the P1-IS system. She said that both parents must be citizen or PR at the TIME OF BIRTH of the child. As my wife was still on work permit when my son was born, so her present blue nric cannot be used. I wonder why are the authorities keeping so many different records instead of just updating to one current one instead? So next time when my wife get pink ic, hopefully that will not affect us getting our keys to our new bto.
  2. Senoko Energy seeking govt aid amid power supply glut: Report SINGAPORE - Local utility company Senoko Energy is reported to have requested aid from the Government as it rides out a supply glut expected to continue for a few more years. Nikkei Asian Review reported that it has asked to borrow between $100 million and $200 million from the Government. It is also lobbying for the Government to create a system that guarantees a revenue stream under long-term contracts, regardless of power plant utilisation. "With the severe business outlook for the next year or two creating the risk of a shortage of operating capital, the utility is battening down the hatches," an official at Japanese trading house Marubeni reportedly said. Senoko, which has been operating since 1977, has three subsidiaries - Senoko Energy Supply, Senoko Services and Senoko Gas Supply. The company was bought in 2008 by Marubeni, Kansai Electric Power, Kyushu Electric Power, Japan Bank for International Cooperation and French company GDF Suez, now Engie. The report said it slipped into the red in 2016, and its net loss widened to about $400 million in 2018. Singapore is facing overcapacity in its power generation market, as the peak supply capacity is now believed to be double its peak demand. Proceeds from electricity sales are not enough to cover costs of fuel, maintenance and financing. Asked about the current supply glut, a spokesman with the Energy Market Authority told Nikkei Asian Review that power companies made their investment decisions based on bullish projections for electricity demand growth that did not materialise. "Flexibility was provided for power generation companies to retire their steam plants," the official added. "While the power generation market is currently experiencing a situation of having more supply than demand, this looks to be changing as electricity demand is increasing with more data centres coming onstream, as well as older and inefficient generating units being decommissioned." And is that the reason why the government is finally opening it doors to EVs?
  3. suchow again? https://www.theonlinecitizen.com/2019/08/14/modis-govt-withdraws-request-to-world-bank-to-support-temasek-led-amaravati-capital-project/ According to a Reuters’ report last month (Jul 2019), the World Bank announced that it had withdrawn US$300 million of funding for the new capital in Andhra Pradesh, after the Indian central government dropped support for the project. In a statement, World Bank said, “On July 15 the Government of India (GoI) withdrew its request to the World Bank for financing the proposed Amaravati Sustainable Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project. The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has been informed that the proposed project is no longer under preparation following the government’s decision.” The World Bank website had also showed the status of Amaravati Project as “dropped”. The total project cost was US$715 million and the state government in 2016 had sought funding from the World Bank. However, it had committed US$300 million. But now, even this US$300 million has been withdrawn, thanks to the request from Modi’s central government. “For a change, good sense has prevailed upon the bank to withdraw from the disastrous programme,” Sreedhar R., the director of the Environics Trust, one of the activist groups that has been critical of the project, said in a statement. The project is a joint development between the Singapore Consortium led by Temasek-linked Ascendas-Singbridge and Sembcorp Development, and Amaravati Development Corporation Limited, a company set up by the former Naidu’s state government. Indian PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the project in 2015. http://projects.worldbank.org/P159808?lang=en Amaravati Sustainable Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project OVERVIEW DETAILS FINANCIALS PROCUREMENT RATINGS RESULTS MAP DOCUMENTS NEWS & MEDIA PROJECT AT-A-GLANCE Project ID P159808 Country India Region South Asia Status Dropped Approval Date (as of board presentation) N/A Closing Date N/A Total Project Cost** US$ 715.00 million Commitment Amount US$ 300.00 million Team Leader Raghu Kesavan, Jon Kher Kaw View More » LATEST PROJECT DOCUMENTS Project Information Document-Integrated Safeguards Data Sheet - Amaravati Sustainable Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project - P159808 (English) January 21, 2019 India - Amaravati Sustainable Capital City Development Project : Environmental and Social Assessment - Executive Summary (English) August 1, 2018 India - Amaravati Sustainable Capital City Development Project : Environmental Assessment (Vol. 2) : Environmental Impact Assessment : Environment Management Plan Report for Flood Mitigation Works (English) August 1, 2018 View All Documents » * The project abstract is drawn from the PAD, SAR or PGD and may not accurately reflect the project's current nature ** Total project cost includes funding from World Bank and non-bank sources in US$ millions. 8. In Berita Harian Malaysia. Not sure whether those not using EDL have to pay... The Malaysian government has announced a toll for vehicles using the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) which connects the Johor Baru immigration complex to the North-South Expressway, the main highway used by motorists heading to Malacca and Kuala Lumpur . The new fee for cars from Singapore to Johor Bahru is RM9.70, and RM6.80 from Johor to Singapore. Earlier Cars and lorries exiting Singapore paid RM2.90 and RM5.50, respectively to use the N-S Highway, The announcement comes as Malaysia's Transport Ministry on Friday said Singapore motorists driving into Johor will pay no more than RM50 (S$20) for a new Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) charge for Singapore-registered vehicles, details of which are being discussed. Effective date 1 August 2014...next Friday During the Hari Raya period.

  10. http://www.propertyguru.com.sg/property-management-news/2013/11/36861/govt-urged-to-promote-healthy-property-market The Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (Redas) has urged the government to ensure that the property market remains healthy, media reports said. Speaking at the association’s 54th anniversary dinner last Friday, Redas President Chia Boon Kuah stated: “It is our hope that the government will calibrate its land sales programme to ensure land supply at a pace that will contribute to the overall health of the market.” He noted that “as long as homes are purchased with sound reasoning, we believe in riding out each cycle that comes our way”. “We have faith that the government will continue to monitor the movements in Singapore's property cycle, and ensure a balance between development viability and housing affordability.” He also revealed that while the industry has achieved success, it has had its share of challenges, which include dealing with the effects of the government’s seventh and most comprehensive round of cooling measures and the introduction of the total debt servicing ratio (TDSR). Furthermore, the expiry of the lock-in period of the Seller Stamp Duty from now till 2017 and the large supply of homes coming on-stream continue to weigh on the industry’s mind, said Chia. I was just wondering what the general consensus among MCFers is? Are we hoping that property prices will come down significantly so that we can buy in (remember that your current property price will also decrease in value should you require to sell before you buy) or do we all hope the property prices will continue on this crazy bull run (remembering should you choose to upgrade the next property you buy will also be relatively higher)?

  15. Ok.....i am happy that there are indeed improvement in recent policy changes. Can be better. Hdb admitting that they didnt build enough flats previously, adjusting the income ceiling upward, etc are some positive changes pointing to the right direction. More pro family policies such as the jst announced father paternity leave is also welcome. Now....why didnt the previous ministers, when they were in office, thought these were necessary and for the good of citizen n singapore? What the hell were they doing back then? In particular n i remember vividly, MBT defending the $8,000 ceiling saying that the 90s rule is still relevant in 2011. If the current ministers are doing all the right corrections, then, can i say we had been paying those oust ministers million dollar salary for nothing???
