Good Day to All, Can't really find much info locally but was actually contemplating to purchase a Scan Gauge II OBD code reader to be installed in the car. http://www.scangauge.com/ Are they any current of past users of Scan Gauge and what are the tangible benefits of having one besides logging the trouble codes? Any advice and comments will be appreciated. MTIA!

Hi all, my RPM needle and Temp needles are not working out of sudden. They stay at rest position and I have tried using the Honda gauge test Video found in YouTube to perform a test and indeed both these needles Are not responding. The Speedometer and Fuel gauge remains normal however. Anyone knows where can i find shops in SG doing Instrument Gauge Repair?

Just saw in papers yesterday, 2 guys caught tempering their petrol gauges kanna fine $500 n jailed for 2 weeks. One car even got compound. Such a heavy punishment. Though first time offence is fine only....

recently bought a OBDII bluetooth reader coupled with Torque on my Samsung S2 was able to get the ECU reading off the car. - Mass Air Flow Sensor.... the difference between the stock filter and Stainless Steel filter is a lot. At lower speeds its 2x more and at higher speed, the readings can be 3 times more. - A/F ratio... The OBDII sensor can read actual (from O2 sensor feedback) and commanded A/F ratio...with the stock filter, the actual is very close to the commanded even at higher speeds, but with the S/S filter when accelerating at higher speeds, the actual ratio can jump to 18:1. Normal driving air fuel ratio close to 14.7:1. Does it mean the mixture is very lean and the ECU is unable to adjust the fuel flow to match the air intake fast enough? - throttle position max is 80% with pedal to the floor is this actually 80% or just reader not calibrated properly? - intake air temperature is quite low at 40 during morning and low to mid 30s at night. Not sure if a CAI will make a big difference is driving at night or morning only. - Voltage readings remains very stable, almost no fluctuations at all (unless unable to pick up the spikes) Just checking, how much power does the OBD sensor take (will it drain the battery as it is using bluetooth), cause my ECU port a bit loose liao, removing it and putting back all the time. thinking just leave it there.

I have this habit of topping up only after the gauge reach E, stretching the frequency of going to kiosk. Is this a desirable thing to do? Heard that it might adversely affect the fuel pump. Anyone here does this since day one of owning the car and face no problem or the other way round? Need advise. Regards.

OK guys, before you all start to flame me....i did use the search button and google to find out more but dun understand tons and din really find the answer. Background. Have one of those taiwan guages, "Auto garage", installed in this old mit lancer. The GLX model. Manual. 5 plus year old. Car also have those open pod air filter. When idle the needle states, slightly below 10, din fluctuate nor jump around or even wiggle. just stays there. Steps accelerator, the needle will move towards 0 and rather responsive to the pedal. Search all over, seems that the needle should be showing 14-22, but mine is below 10. And i dunno if it is because open pod air filter is affecting it. Dare not really bring to a mechanic as i dunno if there is any problem, dun have much money to pay for repairs and rather paranoid if mechanic use fear tactics on me. Please help me with some advice as to what i can do to check if anything is wrong, or if anything is wrong at all. BTW, car drives smoothly. Thank you very much.

TODAY paper page 14........15th Jan 2010. Four Singaporeans were charged yesterday, with two of them fine and jailed for tampering with thier fuel gauges. The men, all in thier 30s, were the first to be charged this year for the offence and had been arrested within the span of one and a half hours on wednesday morning. At about 12.30am, Raymond Foo Yong Meng, 32, was caught at the Woodlands Checkpoint. His car fuel gauge indicated the tank was full but a close check showed the reading should have been at the one-quarter mark. It was believed that he used a remote control to adjust the gauge. Half an hour later at the same checkpoint, Muhammad Shaiful Ismail, 30, was caught with a tampered fuel gauge and the remote control device used for the deed. At about 2am, Benjamin Giam Kok Meng, 36, and Ang Kok Tong, 31, were arrested for similar offences. Muhammad Shaiful and Giam both pleased guilty to not having the minimum amount of fuel - a three-quarter tank full - when attempting to leave Singapore, as well as giving false information to officers. They were each fined $500 and jailed two weeks. Court proceedings are ongoing for the other two cases. Last year, Singapore Customs prosected 24 persons for tampering with fuel gauges, up from just four in 2008.

Hi all, My friend jus got a 2nd hand cerato 06 model. The car doesn't come with user manual. Anyone can advise the capacity of the fuel tank? Also, my friend just came back from JB and pumped full by the attendant. Having travelled 140+km but the needle hasnt moved a wee bit. Is it nomral. Need gd advise from gurus here.

Man threw away three chances to come clean on 3/4 tank offence, fine $500 and jail two weeks 1 Andreas had three chances to come clean that he had insufficient motor spirit below the three-quarter tank mark. In all three times, he maintained to the officer who checked him that his fuel tank was full. Therefore, for failing to have the minimum three-quarter tank of motor spirit in his vehicle
