  1. <The Suzuki Jimny Fuses With The Suzuki Every To Make The Cutest Overland Kei Car The custom Jimry is a Jimny with a sleeper compartment. Kind of. Photo: T-Style A tuner in Yokohama, Japan combined the looks and off-road capability of the Suzuki Jimny with the passenger capacity and space efficiency of the Suzuki Every. The combination producing what T-Style Design calls the Suzuki Jimry, an overland kei car that may not have the off-road chops of the Jimny, but certainly has the attitude. This is probably as close as we’ll get to a Jimny with sliding van doors and I love it. The Jimry is built using the Suzuki Every as a base according to Autocosmos, but it has some modifications to its suspension that make it more trail worthy. Photo: T-Style The stock Suzuki Every sits almost 6 inches off the ground, and the Jimry mods raise it by 1.5 inches for a total of 7.5 inches of ground clearance. The stock 13-inch tires are replaced by 14- or 15-inch tires, depending on the build. Some Jimry builds are 4WD, but not all. And others get even more ground clearance, up to four inches over stock. The Jimry keeps the Every’s 660cc three-cylinder engine to comply with Kei car regulations. That engine makes about 63 horespower and 70 lb-ft of torque. Many of the conversions from TSD come with a five-speed manual transmission, but some get an automatic gearbox. Other gear includes a top box and rooftop tent, along with custom mudguards and bumpers that add to the Jimny look. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the Jimny grille. The grille sits below what looks like the tiniest “hood” ever, but since the Suzuki Every is a cabover design, the hood is not covering an engine. And I’m unsure if it’s the stocky dimensions or stand-offish front end but I’m getting Hummer H2 vibes. Even then, I still can’t help but love all the Jimry builds. Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style The mods keep going into the interior, which has slide-out storage compartments beneath a modular bed. The bed sits atop the rear seats when these are folded and it takes up the entire rear portion of the cabin. That’s only in one of the Jimry builds advertised by TSD, and it looks like the mods are made to suit the owner. Prices for the Jimry range from $21,725 to $22,337 or so. That’s for whole Jimry builds. Autocosmos reports that the modifications alone start at around $2,178. Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style Photo: T-Style>
  2. Elderly man arrested after using hammer to hit passing vehicles https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/police-arrest-elderly-man-hammer-hit-vehicles-bedok-north-road-12132054 Is this the same guy?
  3. Boss of Kaki Bukit garage, 60, arrested after allegedly hitting customer's head with hammerA 60-year-old man was arrested after a dispute involving him and a customer broke out in a car garage at 1 Kaki Bukit Avenue 6 on Sep 27. Responding to a Stomp query, the police said that they received a call for assistance at 3.49pm that day. "A 60-year-old man was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means and criminal intimidation," added a police spokesman. A video of the incident that was posted on Facebook last Thursday (Oct 4) shows the two men in an altercation. The video shows both guys standing in front of a Toyota, whose front bonnet was held open by the older guy in a blue shirt. He is believed to be the boss of the car garage. He is seen suddenly letting go of the bonnet, causing it to slam on the younger's guy hands. The pair then started getting into a fight, with the older man waving a hammer in his hand. They also started pushing each other around The older man can be seen wielding his hammer about. On the other hand, the younger guy started shouting, "Come on!" multiple times with his arms outstretched. He also used his chest to repeatedly shove his opponent, despite the latter pushing him away. Even though other people at the scene tried to intervene, the two of them continued tussling. Lianhe Wanbao contacted the bespectacled man in the video, whom they identified as 43-year-old Mr Liu. He said that he had previously recommended the garage to a car driver that was involved in an accident. However, the two parties cancelled their collaboration as they could not come to an agreement about the commission. Prior to the fight, Mr Liu had gotten into an accident and sent his car to the garage. He said that the car garage's boss, however, detained his car and asked him to return his commission of $8,000 instead. Mr Liu believes that the boss was still upset with him for not bringing in business for the garage following the cancelled collaboration. He added: "That day, I went to the garage with a friend to collect my car. The boss insisted that I return the money, even threatening to hit my car with a hammer if I did not do so. "During our argument, he used the wooden end of the hammer to hit me on the back of my head. I called the police afterwards. "Because my head was in pain from being hit, I went to Sengkang Community Hospital, where I was hospitalised and placed under observation for one day." When contacted by Wanbao, the car garage's boss emphasised that he had no intention of injuring the other party. According to him, he went to see a doctor after being shoved over 10 times by Mr Liu and had to rest for three days. He also said that he had to rush to Hong Kong on Saturday (Oct 6) and would go to the police station to assist in investigations upon returning on Thursday (Oct 11). Police investigations are ongoing

  6. Dear All, My name is Marcus. I would like to share my experience with MTE Garage(Bartley Biz Centre) and my journey in tuning my ride. I hope that my experience can allow any potential Volvo owners’ to evaluate the risk and adjust your expectation accordingly. There are lots of workshop and tuner that are respectable but there are those who are irresponsible as well. Likewise my experience do not necessary mean the same will happen to you. In a nutshell, my car was unsuitable for tuning and it cost a lot of problem to the extent of rendering it unusable before wearnes automotive (agent) solve it for me. There was huge gap between promise expectation and reality. I have attached all receipts and proof. 1. 01 July 2014 -Bought new 2013 Volvo S60 T5, 240hp, 320nm (no Drive E version) 2. 21 July 2014- Recommended by friend to MTE garage. Meet with owner Alex and discuss my expectations for my car. – To increase the drive response via tuning, upon recommendations, I was promised a custom tune with the following hardware upgrade which is necessary to complement the custom tune. I was promised an increase of 60+hp and 100+NM minimum. The verbal guarantee was that the hp will be over 300hp. My stock is 240hp. The upgrade bought was a. Ferrita DP/Catback exhaust- $3800 b. AEM methanol Kit- $1350 c. MTE custom Tune- $1350 d. Injen Short Ram (Full kit)- $1350 e. UR front strut bar- $190 f. Customised throttle hose- $160 Total: $8789 with gst 3. Turns out the Injen Air intake is incompatible with the car. The overflow of air cause the ECU to shut down the engine. Ended up with a DIY air filter which means I paid for something I cannot use and no refund was given. 4. Mid November- After waiting for 4 months after full payment, MTE arrange for shark performance from Uk to do a tuning trip in Singapore. Let me be upfront here, the tuning fail in the first round with sluggish performance because MTE accuses us for installing an aftermarket downpipe which affected the tuning. We replace back the original Ferrita DP and the tuning seems to work and we thought the tuning was completed. While the price was inclusive of a Dyno run verbally, none was arranged after a month. I was interested to know if the car exceeded 300hp as promised. Just to add, the tuning was done using the clipboard which open up the ECU and not a flash as per promised 5. 09 Jan 2015- despite repeated request for dyno with MTE, I was ignored. Paid for our own dyno run at monster tune and realised that the HP was a mere 248hp( only +8hp). To be fair the car did become more responsive with higher torque at lower RPM but the problems that ensued was not worth the improvement at all. I did not argue because such over promise by certain workshop is common in the business. 6. Problems: jan15 to may 15- Numerous check engine light, error codes but all resolved by a simple reset of error codes at agent 7. Problems: 3rd July error codes (unable to reset successfully) a. Reduced engine performance b. DSTC service c. Check Engine d. Multi Indicators light up e. Engine choking 8. Problems: 4 July- Car cannot start. Volvo replace fuel pressure. Collected car 9. Problems: 6th July – Car cannot start. All indicators light up again and return to agent, replace fuel injection pump 10. Problems: 11th August – Car cannot start. All indicators out again, choking engine, went back to Volvo, Volvo manage to reset code and diagnostic read “software incompatible with car” 11. Problems 15th August- Car cannot start. All indicators out again. Reloaded original ECU program 12. Problems 17th August Car stalled on road twice. Volvo mechanic while testing stalled again on the road. Volvo installed original air intake and did reset for the car. 13. 25th August- collected car, total spent $1592 over a few visit to Volvo. Whole fiasco including amount paid to MTE is around $10,701.00 and I bought only headaches To summarize, I was unlucky enough to be convinced that my car was tune ready and I spent $10k to bring myself a host of problems. I would like to share this experience with anybody who are thinking of tuning their Volvo. I will now be evaluating my recourse for this matter. Thank You MTE Receipt.pdf Volvo Receipt.pdf

  9. I recently bought two front wheelhubs/bearings. I'm looking for a garage that will charge reasonably and with decent workmanship to get it installed. any recommendations and experiences?
  10. The garage or workshop as we know it, is usually run by men. It's a different case if you pay a visit to the garage 'Caroline's Car'. Situated in Norwich, England, this is an all-women garage (probably the first in the world, too!) that is owned and run by women. It was established a decade ago and has now received hundreds of loyal female customers. Yet, what attracts me more is how this garage started in the first place. Well, after performing some research, I figured out that the owner, Caroline Lake, 42, used to work as an intern at a common garage. She worked at the garage for four sad years during which she didn't get paid. Can you imagine it, four straight years without being paid? That sucks! However, her hard work eventually paid off as she became the first British woman to receive a legitimate tester certificate from the U.K.'s Ministry of Transport. It was the increasing number of women who complained about their experiences at the garage she was working at that inspired Lake to start her own garage. According to her, most of the time, women were deceived by men who were supposedly more knowledgeable when it comes to cars. She said that it was common for women to be told that their cars needed huge fees in order to get it repaired. Heck, even worse, male mechanics at some automotive garage even tend to try and buy longer, yet unnecessary, time in repairing a woman's car just so that they can discuss about - not the car but the woman instead - sorry, my apology in advance if what I said may have offended you. While it's discouraging, it's the truth that Lake found out. With that being said, Lake was determined to start her own garage where women will no longer be deceived and that they can have real and convenient car service experiences. Thanks to her determination and guarantee that there'll be no female customers deceived, plenty of women in her area preferred to have their car serviced at Lake's. Quite amusingly, Lake's garage, Caroline's Car, has one typical characteristic. It is mandatory that every single employee wears a pink uniform. I'll tell you what, Lake has also recruited a male mechanic who is meant to help with heavy-duty tasks that women are unlikely to carry out themselves and this male mechanic has to wear a pink uniform too. Having seen quite a huge success with her garage, Caroline Lake is now considering the possibility of offering her business as a franchise. She claims to be interested in expanding her business, at least in her home country. In fact, she has even started offering special courses and opening mechanical test centres to attract more women into the odds and ends of the automotive world.
  11. Any suggestions? Good. Fast. best if near town. =) preferably reasonably priced too!

  14. Ross Brawn has revealed that he is "happier" now than when he was solely in charge of a team bearing his own name. In the wake of Honda's shock exit at the end of 2008, the Briton and a group of team management took over and won last year's title. But for 2010, Brawn GP was bought out to become Mercedes's new works team, with the 55-year-old staying on board as team principal. Brawn's passion and focus has always been on the engineering side, and he told the Financial Times this week: "To perform in the best possible way, I'm happier not being the majority shareholder." He said he only ever owned the team "by default", and while able to run the highly-competitive chassis designed with Honda's huge resources, was financed only by the Japanese marque's parting EUR2 million gift. Brawn explained that F1 teams usually work "to a budget that is guaranteed two to three years ahead. "But here I was in a situation where there was no budget. You had to do as well as you could and make the company as viable as possible while spending the minimum amount of money doing it." Source: GMM

  16. Tech skeptics have been calling the iPhone a mere toy since its introduction, but the proliferation of apps and ancillaries tells a different story. From the "what will they think of next?" file comes MyDoorOpener, a two-pronged hardware/software solution for turning your iPhone into a garage door opener. That's right, to replace one thing, you need two! The rub is that you'll have your iPhone with you anyway, and if your car's not equipped with HomeLink, then the MyDoorOpener solution could mean one less thing to rattle around in the center console. The software is not yet approved, oh, and you'll have to build the receiver unit, too. That's right, break out the soldering iron and get comfortable with integrated circuits and transistors. It's not simple for everyone, but it's not rocket surgery, either. Lest the tinfoil in your hat start to chafe your scalp, rest assured that communications between devices is encrypted for security. All the instructions and details are at MyDoorOpener.com, and at least they provide schematics so you can make the stuff yourself, instead of buying some black box that puts your monthly balance in the red.
  17. Hi bros...i'm lookin for a skillful garage in doin gaskets.

  24. My car has been towed into the mechanic's garage last Saturday evening. I was travelling out of BKE into Diary Farm Road where I tried to down shift from 5 to 4. Suddenly, no matter which gear I engaged, there was no power transmitted although the engine was running. The entire gear shift was like 'jelly' feel. No choice, I let my car drift towards a side kerb, off Petir Road (the new extension) and called the tow truck. My mechanic told me that something could broken within the gearbox. Now, awaiting the verdict and parts indent. Looks like its gonna cost me a bomb.
