  2. taken from yahoo http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2010/09/27/rw...-your-winnings/ wtf?? can imagine how pissed he is... would they have refund him his $$ if he had lost instead? classic example of "the house always win" rules apply here A 67-year-old man was told to forfeit his winnings at Resorts World Sentosa’s (RWS) casino after finding out his exclusion order from the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) had taken effect. Retired cabby Mr Teo Thiam Kee told The New Paper (TNP) that he knew his son had applied for an exclusion order but was not told when the order would take effect so he continued going to the casino to gamble. He said, “I’d won about S$200 but they made me cough up the money before I was allowed to leave. This is unfair. They allowed me to enter but took away my winnings.” According to the same paper, Mr Teo and his family appeared before the committee of assessors at the Family Link@Lengkok Bahru on Sept 8. The committee hears cases before deciding whether to grant the exclusion order. He then went to RWS after the session ended and continued to do so over the next few days as he was told that it would take some time for the order to be granted. However, he was stopped on Sept 11 after he scanned his identity card to exit the casino. Mr Teo returned his S$200 winnings and told TNP, “I didn’t know I had to forfeit my winnings. If I knew, I wouldn’t have gone there.” RWS spokesman, Ms Lee Sin Yee, said the exclusion order for Mr Teo showed up in the system at the time of his exit and not when he entered. Mr Teo claimed that the letter from NCPG informing him that the exclusion order had been granted was dated Sept 9 and delivered by hand after he returned home that same day. It was also reported that the notification of the exclusion order is sent by courier to the respondent and once it is issued, the exclusion order will be deemed effective, regardless of whether the respondent has received it. According to the Casino Control Act, an excluded person or those below the age of 21 must forfeit their winnings if they are caught in the casinos here. The forfeited money goes into the Government Consolidated Fund.

  4. Smelly Gambler Doesn't Bathe For 6 Days in an attempt to Stink the crouipers into submission... A Singaporean retiree spent six days straight gambling at the tables of Resorts World casino last month. That includes going without showers or change of clothes for her marathon casino sessions, as well as just "coffee and Milo" to keep her going. After all, she slept roughly just four hours a day during her gambling binge. The New Paper reports that Madam Alice Tan, 64, lost $12,000 over the six-day session. The mother of four also revealed the reason why she refused to shower and insisted on going to the casino day after day: a fortune teller had told her she would strike it rich as her "fortune star would be at its brightest" a week before Chinese New Year, which fell on Feb 3 and 4 this year. "No need for fresh change of clothes; I just wet the towel, clean-rub and then use the deodorant," she said. "What for (use shower facilities)? It may wash away my luck. Anyway who cares about smell because most times I'd be on the smoking floor since I smoke," she said. "Instead of fresh underwear, I just change panty-liners," she added. She also told the paper that her six-day binge was her longest ever and most times, she would spend only "two to three days maximum at either RWS or Marina Bay Sands." She also revealed how she only needs an hour's nap a day when gambling and can sleep anywhere in the casino, including her own car or along the casino's walkways. When she's "really too tired", she would move from the gambling tables to the jackpot machines which "no need to use brain power... just hit the button and depend on luck". Otherwise, her favourite game was baccarat and that she usually bet between $500 to $1000 per hand. She set her loss limit at $20,000 per trip. Madam Tan, who lives in a four-room HDB flat in Simei, said her eldest son -- an architect -- paid the annual $2,000 membership for her at both RWS and MBS. She also gets a monthly allowance of $5,800 from her four children. Despite being on a losing streak since last July, she said she "can still afford it" and as long as she doesn't gamble on credit, "I won't have to worry about running up debts". When contacted, her eldest son said he and his three siblings "are aware of and don't mind our mother's hobby." Madam Tan is part of a group of punters who can spend days on a gambling binge. Just last month, a South Korean research fellow from the National University of Singapore was thought to be missing only for it to be revealed later that he had spent 16 days straight at MBS and had never left the premises.

  9. Just wanted to do a poll on how many actually considers himself/herself a gambler? This would include stock speculation, all forms of lottery (4D, ToTo, soccer), casino gambling, etc. I am raising this question in view of the adverse impact of the upcoming IR. Also, I got a friend who is deep in debts due to gambling. In particular, I believe he spends 50% or more of his take home pay in genting/macau casinos, local lottery, stock speculation (even margin trading). Told him to quit but he just can't. What do u guys think?
