  1. From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_772087.html Calling East Coast Park and vicinity 'home' Published on Mar 1, 2012 I GO for my daily early morning walks to East Coast Park, behind my condominium. Lately, I have noticed an increase in the number of people, especially foreign workers, who sleep on the benches or grass or camp at the beach, especially during weekends or public holidays. During weekends or public holidays, the beach is full of camping foreign workers, some with makeshift cooking facilities. So, I dread going for my walk on Mondays or after a public holiday because the beach is littered with rubbish and leftovers of these campers. I also discovered two people using a bench in the Siglap Park Connector next to Victoria Junior College to sleep, every day for weeks. When I informed the neighbourhood police post that they were making the bench their sleeping place, I was told that they were not doing anything illegal. Yong Lee Sen (Ms)

  3. Well, just dropped by with Super7 to check out this new E200. In essence, its a 1.8l with Kompressor, power output 163HP/5500rpm, 240Nm/3K-4K (weird). On the 1st glance, the interior looks complicated with no lack of gizmo buttons spread out throughout the dash panel. Sales guy told us that the interior and car is perfectly the same with E240 except for the engine capacity. 1st minus realized by both of us: Plastics used throughout do not reflect the luxurious heritage that Mercedes cars used to project. 2nd minus: Doors shutting do not sound like typical Mercedes quality as we felt that it was ONLY a notch above other non-continental makes. We took the AYE route as directed by the sales rep. On the way, Super7 nearly got noticed by the TP for blasting along the stretch toward Tuas... 3rd minus: On the go, the Avantgarde trimmed model does not take off with an urgency that one would expect from a car shod with Kompressor. There is a certain sluggishness starting off from zero and initially which I did not feel as I was in the back seat. However, after taking the wheel, I felt the lack of torque in hustling the huge weight of 1570kg along. Overall refinement was slightly lacking as road noise was quite pronounced. A change of tyres might remove this??? The sales person did mention that the suspension for the Avantgarde model was more sporting by nature as defined by the black bird's eye maple trim instead of burr walnut wood trim. Other visible cues include the different front bumpers with very subtle front splitters molded as part of the Avantgarde trim from the Elegance model. Stability round long sweeping curves was quite good as the car did not feel out of step with the asphalt. While sitting at the rear, I did not feel 'tossed' like a salad. After I took the wheel, the feeling was similar that the younger driver would appreciate the stiffer spring rates offered by Avantgarde. The price: $202,800 w/COE and delivery b4 CNY if you are keen* *The opinion expressed in this writeup is subjective to what we both felt.
