  1. (Warning: Graphic content) Attacker rips out man's heart and bites it Jun 28, 2014 4:25pm 4 0 0 4 A 40-year-old boat owner attacked a man with a knife. When the victim collapsed on the ground, the attacker dug out his heart and intestines. An argument over a bowl of noodles ended up with the most gruesome of murders. A 39-year-old boat owner with the surname Ma spotted a 40-year-old fisherman enjoying a bowl of noodles for breakfast on Wednesday (June 25) at a shop in Suizhou, in China's Hubei province. For reasons unknown, the pair started arguing over the dish, which cost 5 yuan (S$1), reported Shanghaiist. Chinese website Bastille Post reported that Ma suddenly picked up a watermelon knife and slashed at the victim's neck. Blood started flowing from the wound and the victim collapsed on the ground. But what came next was even more horrifying. Ma used the knife to cut open the man's chest and dig out his heart. He then put the heart in his mouth and started biting it. The attacker, however, was not done. He used the knife to cut open the chest further and removed the man's intestines. Horrified witnesses watched from a distance, with none daring to approach Ma. The attacker did not leave the scene after the attack. Instead, he paced up and down while biting the heart, before pausing to sit down at the scene. Police arrived 40 minutes later and arrested him. - See more at: http://www.tnp.sg/news/warning-graphic-content-attacker-rips-out-mans-heart-and-bites-it?utm_content=buffer879ab&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer#sthash.DjqKoVP6.dpuf
  2. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/fully-vaccinated-travellers-can-travel-to-germany-and-back-without-serving-shn Fully vaccinated Singapore residents can travel to Germany and back without having to serve stay-home notices (SHN) from Sept 8. They will instead have to undergo four Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, including one to be taken before the flight. It will be the first time residents can go for quarantine-free leisure travel since the Republic shuts its borders in March last year. The development comes after Singapore on Thursday (Aug 19) announced a new scheme in which it unilaterally opens it borders to vaccinated travellers from selected countries, starting with Germany and Brunei. With Germany already unilaterally opening its border to Singapore, those travelling on designated flights from Singapore will be able to fly to Germany and return without having to be quarantined. They will instead be subject to several Covid-19 tests and a short period of self-isolation, replacing quarantine requirements. TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN RISK.
  3. 1-month-old baby dies on full month celebration after grandfather gives him alcohol https://www.asiaone.com/china/1-month-old-baby-dies-full-month-celebration-after-grandfather-gives-him-alcohol?xtor=EREC-16-4%5BEmarsys_Newsletter%5D-20190718&extid=6934d0cfb7b252f1ae9f0dbddf5ff88ca8637e77 Tragedy befell a family recently when a newborn baby died after his grandfather fed him a sip of alcohol, on his first-month celebration. The incident shows the dangers of giving alcohol to a baby, even in tiny amounts. According to an article on Sin Chew Daily on 12 July 2019, the incident happened in Beijing, China. Many friends and relatives had turned up at the baby's full month celebration, which is traditionally held to bless the child and celebrate the arrival of a new member of the family. The child's paternal grandfather was apparently carrying him when he proposed a toast to his relatives. Things took a rather weird turn when one of the relatives joked that the grandfather couldn't drink if the baby didn't drink. The grandfather fell for the taunt, he grabbed a cup of alcohol and gave the baby a sip, to "save his face". When the child's mother got to know what had happened, she was furious. She grabbed her baby back into her arms. But the damage had been done. The baby became breathless after just 30 minutes. He was rushed to the hospital, but hospital staff were unable to save the little one. Doctors found out that, the cause of the child's death was alcohol poisoning. "Babies cannot drink alcohol, how can you treat a child's life as if it's a joke?" they asked the grandfather. It has been reported that the baby's heartbroken mum was unable to believe what had happened, and she slapped her father-in-law multiple times. Apparently, the mum had been ill-treated by her in-laws previously, because she was unable to conceive even after 3 years of marriage. Things got better only after she was blessed with a baby boy. Fate though had other plans. According to a report by Dr Taylor McCormick (Department of Emergency Medicine, Los Angeles County & University of Southern California Medical Center), babies appear to metabolise alcohol faster than adults. Alcohol affects the central nervous system. Children's bodies absorb alcohol quickly, and this can occur in less than 30 minutes. Symptoms of alcohol poisoning in babies can include difficulty breathing, reduced activity, and seizures. Some studies have also found a risk for low blood sugar. The long-term effects on the baby are unclear. However, breathing difficulties could deprive the baby's brain of oxygen, possibly causing brain damage. In the case of breastfeeding mothers, the CDC recommends that not drinking alcohol is the safest option. Generally, moderate alcohol consumption by a breastfeeding mother (up to 1 standard drink per day) is not known to be harmful to the infant. However, the mother should wait for at least 2 hours after a single drink before breastfeeding her baby. Breast milk will contain alcohol as long as alcohol is still in the mother's bloodstream. Alcohol levels are usually highest in breast milk 30-60 minutes after alcohol is consumed. The length of time alcohol can be detected in breast milk will increase the more alcohol a mother consumes. For example, alcohol from 1 drink can be detected in breast milk for about 2-3 hours, alcohol from 2 drinks can be detected for about 4-5 hours, and alcohol from 3 drinks can be detected for about 6-8 hours, and so on. Exposure to alcohol above moderate levels through breast milk can damage an infant's development, growth, and sleep patterns. High alcohol consumption can also impair a mother's judgment and ability to safely care for her child. Over time, excessive alcohol consumption can also lead to decreased milk production. 4. So just a heads up, in case you feel inclined to share everything, better don't. Btw she had to make a public apology never to undertake similar action in the future. Better be safe than sorry fellas. PS: I am not at a liberty to reveal which company did that, or which forum it took place in either.
  5. I advocate Taxi/PHV should be regulated to have equipped with a minimum in-car safety standard. To me, it is their very basic social responsibility to make sure the car is as safe as possible. As public transport, shouldn't they have responsibility to the safety for their passengers? Everytime a taxi/PHV involved in an accident, the driver is the only one responsible. Shouldn't the Taxi/PHV rental companies have responsibility? Full spec SRS is the most basic one. Why they are not equipped with full SRS specs? Are they really not affordable with Singapore standard of living? Most passengers sit at the back seat. Curtain airbags could have saved life and avoid serious injuries, including the Commonwealth Avenue West accident at 19 Apr 2018, should the taxi was equipped with curtain airbag. (To the victim family, Sorry to bring up this painful lost. My thought is with the young lady. My intention is to do something to prevent similar incident in future.)
  6. as above , does anyone knows where to get THE STIG (topgear) design helmets in SG ?? and how much ??
  7. used to drive a concerto (fuel injection), when i pump to the brim, it will give me 500over km. if i do some hard driving also got 400plus. Car was more than 15yrs old. i could do a century sprint in 10sec with a good launch in dry conditions. no fuel enhancer, just a good 100% synthetic oil and engine treatment. open pod stainless steel. straight through exhaust. spark enhancer. NOBODY believed me... (cars in the 90s had great improvments with juz an open pod and straight through exhaust, cant say the same for modern cars now) so i checked my car specs... oil tank was 50L... most model cars now are 40L? and my rims were 16inch 45s... but not sure if original was 14inch 65s... so maybe my tyres were to big hence the extra reading in my distance... hmmmm.. dont know leh... cause i had a friend who drove an EG 2-dr and he clocked 500km on his full tank too (note that i am NOT referring to highway figures) but he had 2 carbon seats, carbon doors, boot bonnet.. used 15inch 55s. hmmmmm........ is 500km really not possible on a full tank of petrol in petrol driven cars? i thought that the city n jazz DSI versions also were very furl efficent?
  8. An anonymous source has e-mailed what appears to be a digital press kit produced by Lexus for next week's Geneva Motor Show. The pages of the kit reveal photos and details of the Lexus CT 200h five-door hybrid, set for a debut at the Geneva event. The full hybrid is based on the LF-Ch concept shown at the Frankfurt show in 2009. It features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine and a magnet synchronous electric motor. The company has not published performance details, but they do say that the motor is "powerful." Nickel-metal hydride is used for the high voltage battery. Power is sent to the front wheels via a electrically-controlled contiuously variable transmission, or E-CVT for short. The car remains a sleek five-door, just like the concept. It has sporty overhangs at the front and back, and a well-placed rear spoiler. The car looks to have LED rear lighting. At 4,320mm long, the car is 140mm shorter than the Toyota Prius. The Lexus is 1,765mm wide by 1,430mm high; 20mm x 50mm less than the Prius. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, and features McPherson/front- and double wishbone rear suspension. Lexus wants to use this car to prove that full hybrids do not have to be boring drives. They claim the car has "superior handling agility" to suit their customers' wishes, and three driving modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport) to adjust to different situations. Again, Lexus remained vague about sprint times, overtake ability, and top speed. Hopefully, these details and more will be released at the Geneva Motor Show. The leaked information also reveals data about Lexus LFA sales orders which states allocation will be fixed in April, while individual orders will be confirmed to customers in May. Demand has surpassed the announced 500 units set to be produced.
  9. http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/jtc-puts-more-smart-waste-bins-alert-cleaners-sms-when-full SINGAPORE — After a successful pilot for solar-panelled “smart” trash bins, industrial property developer JTC has put up more than 40 of these bins around the island. The bins, called Bigbelly bins, have an internal compactor to crunch rubbish and can handle about five times more trash than another of a similar size. They have an enclosed design that prevents scavengers, pests and odours, and are connected wirelessly for easy monitoring and management. Once the bin is full, its sensors will detect and send, via 3G, email or text message alerts to the mobile phones of cleaners. Because they work on solar energy, the bins have no cabling. The solar panels power an internal battery that drives the compaction mechanism, internal sensors and the communication module. A fully charged battery can power the bin for about three months without sunlight.
  10. I just received TWO letters from LTA. Saw them lying on my desk and I have a very bad feeling. Opened it, and found that they are for 2 separate offences. 1. 25 sept 1108 - Fine 130 2. 25 Sept 1309 - Fine 130 Offences, both for stopping in a full day bus lane. What happened was that there was an impt document i need to get from a client to be signed and returned along robinson road, outside Sing Investment Building. What I did was to drive, stopped for 1 sec, wind down window and get the doc. Went to get it signed, and same thing, wind down window to return the doc. 2 hours apart. When i drove there, i scanned and have ensured that there wasnt any LTA camera man or Any approaching bus. Tot i was safe.. until now. So dun take it for granted. You never know where they are hiding. Learn from my lesson.. 260 is 2 full tanks for me. Sian.

  16. Just a caution for brothers trying to enter with less than 3/4 tank. Noticed recently they've been checking cars entering. Went in twice for supper (after 11pm~2am timing).....once on weekday and once on weekend. Once i was asked to stop for a quick peek probably at my fuel meter (weekend) and another time the car in front of me was asked to stop for a sec probably to check. Not too sure if they checked randomly but just a word of caution for those whom tries.

  21. I have always like WP7/WP8 phones as extremely easy to work with metro tiles to make phone calls, write sms, take picture, etc, etc. Especially for older folks who just want someone SIMPLE. What I do not like is that strict control imposed akin to iOS and the much less useful app store. But with the WP8 launcher below, you can have the simplicity of WP8 phones and the flexibility of Android system. Every apps you like can e placed as a tile for easy access. It looks and feels like a WP8 phone. Believe me, I used my Omnia7 for close to a year. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...om.lx.launcher8 And for those who want to do tryout on WP8 phones to know how it works, do install it from Play Store on your Android phone. Remember the app make is QiHang Dev Team. Enjoy! And if you have better WP8 launcher, do share. Thanks.
  22. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singap...oan/661792.html "We have about 37 units of those ex-stocks. We have cleared (most of them), left with two units only. So it has turned out to be not only good, it's fantastic. When borrowing restrictions revert next month, the Singapore Vehicle Traders Association expects times to be tougher. It said used car dealers are likely to be more careful about stockpiling second-hand vehicles."
  23. About 69 per cent of used cars eligible for full loans have been sold as of 27 May since authorities lifted borrowing limits for buying those cars for 60 days. This concession will last till Tuesday. Motor firms are bracing for uncertainty thereafter. Dealers whom Channel NewsAsia spoke with expect the market to be even quieter, with car loan curbs in full force. To help used car dealers clear old stock acquired before new borrowing restrictions were introduced, a two-month concession was given. This meant that buyers could continue taking up to 100 per cent loan for vehicle purchases. The concession applied to some 7,000 used cars. Over 4,800 have been sold so far. Classic Credit had around 180 vehicles from old stock. About 170 have been sold, but customers remain cautious. Andy Ong, sales consultant at Classic Credit, said: "It all depends, you see, on the customer preference - what they want. Because mostly for used cars, they are going for those budget cars. Talking about high-end, they should rather go for the new cars right? Because those people are those well-to-do families." Prospective car buyer Clarence Pang said: "Actually, I'm just checking out the cars, just looking at the value
