  1. Hey guys, I just got my OL about 2 weeks back, and I was trying to clean off this stubborn water stain on my exterior car plastic trim, so i just used a microfiber cloth to clean it. To my surprise, a scratch appeared!! I'm not sure if it's because I wipe a little too hard or what, but now I (still) have the water stain and this scratch beside it. I have tried using toothpaste (searched online solutions), magic sponge (worked for my back window trims water spots) and vinegar and just simple water wiping, but nothing works.. Anyone has any experiences on this, or any advice on how I can remove it please? It's quite obvious.. Thank you!
  2. Hi guys May I check how long after receiving a new car, should I do up polishing/waxing/sealant etc....? Should I wait a few months and enjoy the stock condition first, or straight away protect the car? Any recommended shops for these items? And any other items I should be looking out for to look after the exterior and interior? All comments welcome! Thanks!
  3. As topic, anyone have any good details products, method to give the exterior rubber/plastic on exterior, like the door seals, the black plastic holding the side mirror & the black plastic at the B pillars a glossy feel. I tried those for interior plastic, but it worn out fast, & burry after rain. Some of these are getting dull & got white-ish powdery look liao.
  4. does anyone know if there is any company or places that help one to do interior vacuum and exterior cleaning of the car? Don't want to be too expensive...
  5. SINGAPORE: The Manpower Ministry has ruled that with immediate effect, employers shall not allow their foreign domestic workers to clean the exterior of windows unless two safety conditions are met. Firstly, the employer or an adult is physically present to supervise the maid. And, secondly, window grilles must be installed and locked at all times during the cleaning process. MOM said the new rules will apply to all homes, except for windows that are at ground level or along common corridors. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1205502/1/.html
  6. SINGAPORE: The Manpower Ministry has ruled that with immediate effect, employers shall not allow their foreign domestic workers (FDW) to clean the exterior of windows unless two safety conditions are met. Firstly, the employer or an adult is physically present to supervise the maid. And, secondly, window grilles must be installed and locked at all times during the cleaning process. MOM said the new rules will apply to all homes, except for windows that are at ground level or along common corridors. Gd la, finally something in place to protect our domestic workers.. dun really see the need to clean the exterior of windows till sparkling clean.. but then, how to clean windown when grills are locked ah?
  7. The Manpower Ministry has ruled that with immediate effect, employers shall not allow their foreign domestic workers to clean the exterior of windows unless two safety conditions are met. Firstly, the employer or an adult is physically present to supervise the maid. And, secondly, window grilles must be installed and locked at all times during the cleaning process. MOM said the new rules will apply to all homes, except for windows that are at ground level or along common corridors. It emphasises that anyone who cleans the exterior of their windows at home should follow similar safety requirements. The ministry explained that many foreign domestic workers do not come from high-rise environments and may not be used to Singapore's urban living environment. They are therefore likely to be unaware of the risks in a high-rise domestic setting. Apart from window cleaning, employers should take necessary steps to eliminate the risks involved in other tasks by following the Dos and Don'ts covered in MOM's guidebooks and pamphlets. If foreign domestic workers are required to hang laundry outside the window using bamboo poles, employers should ensure that they do not stand on an elevated platform or tip-toe while handling the poles, and do not overload the pole with too many clothes. MOM said it will be sending a circular to all existing foreign maid employers to inform them of the tightened safety requirements. The ministry will also be updating its training materials for first-time maids and their employers. MOM warns that failure to comply with these tightened requirements constitutes a breach of the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Passes) Regulations. Employers who fail to comply may be prosecuted and permanently barred from hiring a foreign domestic worker. MOM said it's deeply concerned with the recent spate of fatalities involving foreign domestic workers. Since January this year, there have been nine work-related fall from heights fatalities, compared to four cases for the whole of 2011 and eight in 2010. The ministry's investigations show that five of the nine fatalities were related to foreign donestic workers cleaning windows in an unsafe manner. Two arose from hanging laundry, while the causes of the last two are pending further investigation. The ministry said this tragic and unnecessary loss of lives could have been prevented if foreign domestic workers and their employers took safe work practices seriously. 13. Most films i have come across are designed to be installed on the interior of the glass; eg home windows etc. I now need a tinting film that is to be applied on the EXTERIOR of the glass to prevent heat and also to improve privacy. I also know that if an interior film is installed on the exterior, it loses its heat prevention function (although it still offers the same degree of privacy) Does anyone know where to get such exterior tinting film locally? pls help. thanks!
  14. 1. I'm of the thought that door protectors strips are important to cut down on the number of dings on your car doors. Personally, I felt that center door protectors seem more effective than those cars with a buttom door protectors. Of course, there are also some that don't come with any door protectors at all. 2. I wonder what is the rationale of some car manufacturers having door protectors that are mounted at the buttom of the doors? Do you know? Regards,
  15. My exterior door trim is loose, so now opening the door is a bit of a hassle. So apart from bringing it to a body shop, can use double sided tape to tape it back?
  16. I intend to do one minor mod.. a shoe rack (grille type) which i wish to drill to the wall beside my front gate. Outside the flat. However, I am not sure if that is allowed. Is it an offence? cos it's like 4 holes which i could patch up in about 5 mins when i sell my house (not anytime soon anyway...) my corridor is the super wide type, so there will be no inconvenience to neighbours. my reason for drilling it to the wall is so that it can be off the floor and looks neater. also, prevent people from carting it off. I don't quite dig the plastic types, which i will have to buy new anyway and might be stolen by some low-life

  23. I'm considering a Saab 95 . I owned VW before and the car had black plastic trimmings/door handles running along the doors and bumbers. The problem with these was that they faded to patchy grey in our local climate and were a constant eye sore. The only remedy was to do regular polishing (I used Autoglym), which was quite a task. I've seen a number of Saabs where the exterior trimmings/door handles (and evening windscreen/door window seals) faded quite badly. I've also seen Saabs with painted door trimmings/handles where the paint is beginning to come off those areas . Saab owners - Can you advise how do you tackle this problem? Thanks. Mukaiya
  24. Any idea what kind of polish I can use to bring back the new-ness of the exterior rubber linings (ie those rubber along the windows, doors, etc). Car is old, so rubber looks dry, hard and grayish. Want to bring back the "blackness".
