  1. Anyone here still wax their car to give additional shine even though paint protection coating has been done? Will the wax damage the coating? Any suggestions of any mobile car clean and waxing service if I don't have the energy and time to DIY? Thanks!
  2. From The New Paper : Man in road accident passes breathalyser test but insurance company refuses to pay out - See more at: http://www.tnp.sg/news/drink-and-drive-no-insurance-cover-even-if-youre-under-limit By: ZUL OTHMAN and LINETTE HENG By his own admission, he drank a few beers about three hours before his Mitsubishi Lancer was involved in an accident at the junction of Grange Road and Tanglin Road on Jan 29. Mr Wayne Poh was given a breathalyser test by the Traffic Police and cleared when the test showed that he was just below the legal limit of 35mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. But the 29-year-old finance manager is now locked in dispute with his motor insurer DirectAsia.com, which won't honour his claim over the accident because he had drunk alcohol before the accident.
  3. SINGAPORE — Part-time SMRT taxi drivers were locked out of their vehicles early Monday morning (Oct 30) in a three-hour server glitch on the transport operator’s short-term taxi rental service portal, SMRT Taxi Share. Rolled out in January by SMRT, the service requires taxi drivers to prebook a taxi, head to the pick-up point closest to them, and get on taxishare.com.sg to indicate that they would like to “Start Trip” — a button that would only be enabled past the starting time of their booking — before their cars would be unlocked. But drivers who went through their usual routine on Monday morning were met with an irresponsive ‘Start Trip’ button, although they were able to access the Taxi Share website. Those attempting to end their rental reportedly faced problems doing so. Late charges are S$10 for every 15 minutes or part thereof. http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/part-time-smrt-cabbies-locked-out-taxis-server-glitch

  7. Two-wheeled revolution: Pyongyang installs bike lanes In a bid to reduce the number of pedestrian accidents, authorities in the North Korean capital have installed cycle lanes on major thoroughfares in the city. POSTED: 14 Jul 2015 11:55 SEOUL: North Korea has installed cycle lanes on major thoroughfares running through Pyongyang in an apparent bid to cut down on pedestrian accidents as more people have the cash to spend on bicycles to get around. Bicycles are an expensive but popular mode of transport for many in an impoverished and reclusive country where private car ownership, although on the rise, is still rare. They are often used by women to transport goods to semi-tolerated markets, where one of the most common services sold for profit is bicycle repair. Concrete paving stones on some long stretches of pavement in the central area of Pyongyang have been replaced by a strip of smooth cycle path marked with white outlines of bicycles, according to photos seen by Reuters. One image from early July showed a freshly laid bicycle path leading to the towering 105-storey Ryugyong hotel, the uprooted paving stones still on the pavement. North Korean cyclists are not supposed to ride on urban roads and have for years used an unmarked narrow strip of pavement shared with pedestrians, residents and visitors said. "This causes a lot of accidents and collisions and as a result people ride slowly and ring their bells very frequently," said Simon Cockerell of Beijing-based Koryo Tours, which takes Western tourists into North Korea. Pyongyang - the name of the showpiece capital means "flat lands" - is geographically bicycle-friendly, but has in the past introduced and then lifted bans on bikes in the city centre. Cockerell said the number of cyclists in Pyongyang appears to have increased by roughly 50 percent in the past few years, although the thought of riding a bike might be unsophisticated for many image-conscious Pyongyang residents. "They are not the most common form of transport for the average Pyongyang resident and many people I have spoken to about bikes there - mostly men - have scoffed at the idea that they would ride a bike," said Cockerell, whose company offers bicycle tours of North Korea. - Reuters/rw Article from : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/two-wheeled-revolution/1982720.html

  9. Climate report predicts city will be warmest place on earth by the turn of the century. Tropical countries such as Singapore will be a lot hotter and wetter by the turn of this century if climate change predictions come to pass. Weather considered extreme today could well become the norm, with temperatures rising by as much as three to four degrees Celsius and heavy storms becoming more frequent and intense. Singapore already has one of the hottest tropical rainforest climates on earth. "Equatorial Singapore will not just be warmer than it is now, but warmer than anywhere on earth with year-round rainfall," ecologist Richard Corlett warns in the first State of the Tropics report by Australia's James Cook University (JCU), which is launched today in Myanmar, Singapore and Australia. Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore were among 11 international universities that helped to develop the report's framework and review the final product, targeted at policymakers, researchers and others. Tropical regions are typically those where the mean temperature of the coolest month is above 18 deg C, with a small annual range of temperature. The report's focus on the tropics reflects how this is a critical zone of population and economic growth, with an impact on the rest of the world, said JCU media and communications head Richard Davis. The university plans to update the report every five years. Professor Corlett, who is with the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Yunnan, told The Sunday Times there is a need for more research in several areas, and Singapore could play a lead role in this. One area is developing better climate models, something which the Centre for Climate Research Singapore is currently doing. South-East Asia's climate is particularly complicated, with a varied mix of land and sea. Another is conducting experiments on how various species react to sustained higher temperatures. Professor Stephen Lansing, co-director of NTU's Complexity Institute, said Singapore has the research expertise to model how tropical cities might behave as they grow, or to work out how to cut emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, from ricefields in Bali, for example. In the report, JCU researchers say climate change is making the earth's tropical regions creep gradually towards the poles at a rate of about 1.25 to 2.5 degrees of latitude every quarter-century - or between 138km and 277km. This will have significant consequences for a number of issues, as well as for people and ecosystems. Almost half the people in the tropics are already vulnerable to water stress. So if the region expands as temperatures rise and rainfall patterns shift, even more could be at risk. An expanded tropical region could increase the habitat for disease-carrying insects. But other plants and animals could face extinction if they cannot move or adapt as warm places become warmer. NTU and NUS representatives, including NTU president Bertil Andersson, are among experts who will discuss the report at Marina Bay Sands today. 12. Wow, this takes EAT to a whole new meaning. Hyena eats man's penis in Zambia LUSAKA (AFP) - A Malawian man has been left without a penis and is missing three toes after they were eaten by a hyena in a Zambian border town, a local hospital said Wednesday. Chamangeni Zulu, in his early twenties, was discharged from the Chipata General Hospital this week, a senior nurse told AFP. "He was discharged on Monday after the relatives requested that he should be transferred to Muchinji in Malawi," said Sister Precious Matongo, referring to a town just across the border. "They should be constantly cleaning the wounds but he is stable," she added. Local media reported that Zulu sacrificed his body parts after being told by a traditional healer that it would help him become rich.
  13. Nothing better to report ah!!! Diner and Dempsey restaurant owner in war of words on social media By Carolyn Khew A war of words between a disgruntled customer and a restaurant owner has spilled online, after the customer posted a nasty reply by the restaurateur on Facebook. Mr Arun Ratnaa, 28, had written an email to Mr Ken Lim, the owner of Don Quijote Spanish Restaurant at Dempsey Road, on Saturday, after he and a group of friends were supposedly turned away at the door even though the restaurant was "far from full," he said. Mr Ratnaa got a rude reply containing an expletive instead, which he posted on his Facebook profile on Monday. On the same day, Mr Lim, in a strongly worded reply on his restaurant's Facebook page, said Mr Ratnaa's post did not give the "full facts", and that his staff "was at no point rude to (him) and in fact apologised several times that (they) were not able to accommodate (him)".
  14. Hi all. Sorry if my topic title is not clear. Made a 3rd party claim this year. Then, a few month later, received a lawyer invoice to pay lawyer fee. Wrote back to the lawyer to ask why I need to pay since its a 3rd party claim? The lawyer replied that the legal costs is a different issue from the cost of repair. Workshop claim legal fee...no? If i pay the legal fee can I claim it back from the workshop? Need your advice. Thanks.
  15. it wanted to get medicine after being hit by a car, i think Australian police had to lock down part of Melbourne Airport on Wednesday after a kangaroo bounced into the terminal and surprised passengers shopping in a pharmacy. PHOTOS Wildlife Victoria staff Ella Roundtree (L) and Geoffrey Fuller with an eastern grey male kangaroo at a pharmacy in Melbourne Airport. (AFP/Wildlife Victoria) ENLARGE CAPTION MELBOURNE: Australian police had to lock down part of Melbourne Airport on Wednesday after a kangaroo bounced into the terminal and surprised passengers shopping in a pharmacy. Wildlife rescue volunteers were called in to tranquilise and capture the distressed eastern grey male, which had been hit by a car on his way to the building that services both international and domestic flights. "Cyrus, as he has been aptly named after one of the helpers on the scene, will be assessed by a vet following his ordeal," Wildlife Victoria said. Australian comedian Julia Morris broke the news on Twitter, where photographs began circulating of the marsupial in the skincare aisle of the terminal's pharmacy. "Ok, so I'm at Melbourne airport & a KANGAROO has just jumped into the chemist," she tweeted, with the hashtags #notajoke, #soundslikeajoke, #mustneedaprescriptionfilled. Australia's national airline, Qantas, features one of the animals on its livery and is known as the "Flying Kangaroo", prompting jokes on social media sites. Police locked down the chemist while rescuers were called, and Wildlife Victoria said its emergency response team sped to the terminal where "the kangaroo was tranquilised and captured safely". The terminal is located close to bushland known to be frequented by kangaroos and although the tarmac is guarded to ensure the animals do not hop into the path of an aircraft, staff said kangaroos occasionally made their way into the site's buildings. In January, one of the creatures led police on a chase through the airport's multi-storey carpark before it could be sedated and caught, following a similar incident in October 2012. - AFP/fa
  16. GEORGE TOWN, PENANG - The missing diamond from statue of the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) Temple in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling was recovered today. A police spokesman said an investigating team found the precious gem stone hidden in the pile of shattered glass casing which contained the deity. He also said a 35-year-old suspected burglar whom was beaten up prior to his arrest on-the-spot remained in a stable condition in the Penang Hospital. "We have not found any diamond in possession by the suspect. Our team combed the scene and managed to find the glittering diamond inside the broken glass pieces," he said. The spokesman added that a temple manager mounted the diamond back to the forehead section of the deity in the premises this morning. It is believed that the diamond was originally placed on the statue's forehead since the inception of the historical Kuan Yin Temple some 200 years ago. It was reported that the 35-year-old man had failed in his attempt to steal the diamond in the 1pm incident. He apprarently used a hammer to smash the glass case of the statue. The noise prompted a 45-year-old caretaker and two other men to track down the suspect who wast trying to escape from the temple. The suspect barely made it outside the temple before he was overpowered by the trio near an altar and handed over to the police.

  18. London, Apr 23 (ANI): When it comes to faking orgasms, women are very good at it, but a new study and a new book have both revealed that an increasing number of men fake it too. The study, by online pharmacy ukmedix.com, found 74 percent of women in the UK are faking and 22 percent of men, the Sun reported. But it appears the reasons why men and women fake are vastly different. Most women do so to get the lovemaking over and done with. They used to lie back and think of England, while men think of Kelly Brook. But it appears men fake climax because they are embarrassed their technique comes up short, and want to make women feel better. For new book 'Why Men Fake It: The Totally Unexpected Truth', Dr Abraham Morgentaler spent 25 years researching the male orgasm. He said, "The big surprise to me when I started doing this work was that, once a man is in a relationship, he seems to care more about his partner than himself." Most men know women fake it. Like childbirth for women, it is the pain we have to bear. But it will no doubt come as a big shock to women to learn their fellas are at it too. (ANI) http://sg.news.yahoo.com/even-men-fake-org...-050633116.html do you ?

Doors remain open even as train moves off STOMPer wasabi was on her way home when one of the train doors remained stuck open even as the train moved off from Lakeside station. Said the STOMPer: "I was on my way home from Boon Lay MRT to Cityhall MRT at about 10pm last night. "At Lakeside station, one of the doors started making noises during 'Doors Closing' and remained stuck open even while the train started moving. "Thank goodness the train was relatively empty, if not it would have been dangerous for people standing near that door in a crowded train! "The doors eventually closed at the next station."
