If this product was to be introduced 2 days later, I will definitely believe it is an April Fools joke. The New Air-Purifying Dyson Zone Headphones Are as Wild as They Sound Source: https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/the-new-air-purifying-dyson-zone-headphones-are-as-wild-as-they-sound/ Dyson's new Zone air-purifying headphone looks like something you'd see in a dystopian sci-fi movie. But it's a real device you'll be able to buy sometime this fall, Dyson says. For Dyson -- a company that's best known for its high-end vacuum cleaners -- it's the first foray into wearable technology. The Zone is a set of noise-canceling, over-ear headphones that "simultaneously deliver immersive sound to the ears and purified airflow to the nose and mouth," addressing the "urban issues of air quality and noise pollution." No word yet on pricing, but it seems safe to assume that these will cost more than your typical premium noise-canceling headphones from Bose and Sony, and maybe even more than Apple's AirPods Max headphones. There've been rumors that Dyson was working on such a device for years. Back in 2018, Bloomberg reported that Dyson was working on an air purifier-headphone combo and in 2020, Dyson applied for a patent for a new pair of headphones with a built-in air filter. "Air pollution is a global problem -- it affects us everywhere we go. In our homes, at school, at work and as we travel, whether on foot, on a bike or by public or private transport," says Jake Dyson, chief engineer (and son of the company's eponymous founder). "The Dyson Zone purifies the air you breathe on the move. And unlike face masks, it delivers a plume of fresh air without touching your face, using high-performance filters and two miniaturized air pumps. After six years in development, we're excited to deliver pure air and pure audio, anywhere." According to Dyson, the air-filtration component is a "non-contact" system, which means it doesn't touch your face like a mask but rather sits just in front of it. "The compressors in each ear cup draw air through the dual-layer filters and project two streams of purified air to the wearer's nose and mouth, channeled through the non-contact visor," Dyson explains. "Sculpted returns on the visor ensure purified airflow is kept near to the nose and mouth and diluted as little as possible by external crosswinds." Dyson says that developing a non-contact solution was crucial in order to avoid the "discomfort and irritation associated with full-contact alternatives." In the latest Dune movie, no one seems to be complaining too much about wearing filt-plugs in their noses to draw moisture from exhaled air back into their stillsuits for later drinking. But in the real world, people can have strong emotions about wearing anything on their faces, particularly masks. Dyson says to test the Zone, its engineers used a breathing mannequin named Frank that was fitted with medical-grade mechanical lungs and sensing equipment that replicated human breathing patterns in a controlled chamber. That sensing equipment measured pollution levels within the nose and determined "the filtration efficacy of those particles, which would otherwise end up in Frank's artificial lung." The mannequin was named Frank because it reminded the engineers of Frankenstein, a Dyson rep told CNET. On the audio side, Dyson says you can expect a premium listening experience with an accurate, neutral audiophile sound profile and proprietary advanced noise canceling. The headphones are also designed with comfort in mind, though Dyson hasn't announced how much the headphones weigh or what their battery life ratings are with air filtration and noise-canceling on. Each ear cup houses two motors, and Dyson says they're the smallest in any of its machines to date. The headphones connect via Bluetooth -- no word on what version number -- and can also be used to make voice calls.

I might be old fashioned. Lately I had to give an e signature cos I was buying online. And there are many versions. One is you sign on a tablet. One is you send a photo of your signature and they copy and paste on the document and send to you. One is you copy and paste your signature to a document and email to them Are all these considered e signatures? And are these legal meaning if I buy something that's the way forward? Sorry I noob. I only know signature is something you do with a pen. I also send photos of my credit card to an insurance agent who will then fill up forms electronically on my behalf. This one is my friend so I was ok with it. But is it done nowadays in real life? Or a dangerous practice?

I stay in the northeast. Everyday i will use KPE towards city to work and back. Often at the entrance of KPE we will see "Slope Ahead, slow down", "Heavy Traffic at Airport Road exit", "Accident after Airport Road Exit" Do you think such sign is useful? There's no alternative at all (for those who live in north east you know). Most time i feel it slow the traffic further as driver try to anticipate where is the Jam/accident. And often there's no accident at all or it been cleared. Would love to hear your view.

A friend asked me to check out the electronic AXS or the mobile AXS app because he said can use Mastercard to pay many bills (whichi otherwise cannot), so can earn points. I downloaded the app and made a few payments, like power bill, and it works! Yes, pay using any Mastercard. A short video of what the app looks like. Just sharing.

Dear all car enthusiasts, I've stumbled upon a supplier for a remote-controlled operated Car Jack and Torque wrench. Saw it at Li hong auto today and the boss Ah Ho referred me to the supplier for bulk buys. So far, I've had a few orders already from fellow trackie friends so I guess its a track essential as well as a salvation for flat tires. For more info you can check out the You-tube Video at Or www.dyauto.blogspot.com From what I understand, the RRP is $189, I've contacted the supplier and after much negotiations, they could lower the price considerably if we have a substantial enough group buy. So far it goes like this : For 5 orders , the price is $178 For 10 , $168 , For 30 and above , $159 PM me if you are interested. i've posted this lobang on other car forums too to find if anyone's keen Lets start the ball rolling.... 1. Help: ESTA Electronic System for Travel Authorisation
SimonTan posted a topic in Travel & Road Trips
My wife is traveling to USA this Friday by plane. The air ticket agent is asking her to apply for ESTA online, cost US$39. But I thought Singaporeans are already under the Visa Waiver Program. So don't really need to apply for visa, or to check for eligibility to enter USA. Anyone can advice really need to spend the US$39 to get this ESTA. If not, will there be 'trouble' when at the USA customs?- 18 replies

http://www.todayonline.com/Singapore/EDC09...cences-on-sale- Electronic licences on sale 05:55 AM Nov 10, 2009 SINGAPORE - Off-peak car (OPC) owners can now buy their electronic day licences for use from Nov 23 when, as earlier announced, these will replace the current paper licence used during restricted hours. OPC users can buy e-Day Licences from 6am to midnight at www.onemotoring.com.sg. This is in addition to the existing channels, such as at SingPost outlets, AXS stations or with mobile-SMS services via MobileP@y. Come Nov 23, OPC drivers will not only enjoy extended hours of use,but also the option of buying the e-Day Licence after using the car so long as they do so before 11.59pm the next day. For enforcement, Land Transport Authority officers will no longer stop vehicles to check for valid licences, but will instead verify the vehicle registration number against system records. OPC users have until next May to return unusued paper day licences that are not torn or tampered with, for a refund or conversion to e-Day licences, at any SingPost outlet or LTA's office at Sin Ming Drive. There are now about 46,600 OPCs on the roads, making up 8 per cent of the car population.

I'm starting this thread cos some forummers have suggested it receive due exposure on its own rather than riding on the 'OPC Offender' thread. It was going a bit OT there to be quite honest. OPC owners are a misunderstood lot most of the time. They are restricted from using the roads between 7am to 7pm weekdays. When they are seen on the roads in this period, there is a tendency for non-OPC owners to slam them as 'cheats'. Even if the OPC owner has his coupon. This has of course led to many unhappiness between the 2 kinds of car owners. You only have to check out the 'OPC Offender' thread to understand. I proposed over at that thread that an electronic system of tagging or accounting be instituted for the OPCs. My argument is that this is no different from the electronic parking lots in shopping centres or some HDB carparks. The analogy is that some people will 'cheat' by tearing less coupons and others who witness it may be unhappy and take issue to report. Same goes for OPC. Several forummers mentioned that people who report on OPC cheats are busybodies and should just get a life. Hence, my proposal that an electronic system would circumvent this problem. No one will be able to 'cheat' by not tearing coupons and if this is minimised, then lesser complaints. Your views are welcome. Please be constructive and not slam my idea/suggestion as 'Sh@i', as one forummer declared. I put up this idea with the intention to improve relationsiphs amongst road users, not cause divisions.
