  1. McLaren 600LT by MSO revealed ahead of Pebble Beach debuthttps://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/mclaren-600lt-mso-revealed-ahead-pebble-beach-debut McLaren will be heading to this week’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with a bespoke version of its new 600LT. Showcasing a raft of personalisation options from the Woking brand’s MSO (McLaren Special Operations) division, the concept follows on from the first public outing of the 600LT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month. Featuring MSO Bespoke Stealth Grey paintwork, the 600LT receives a number of carbonfibre upgrades, including an F1 Longtail-inspired air intake scoop mounted on the roof. Three carbonfibre upgrade packs also feature, with the material being used for the door mirrors and door inserts, as well as the front splitter, rear bumper, diffuser and engine cover. An ‘MSO Defined’ carbonfibre roof and front wing louvres are also part of the package. The new parts are said to reduce weight, although McLaren hasn’t disclosed how much lighter the MSO version is than the regular 600LT. Gloss black 10-spoke wheels complete the look. Inside, lightweight carbonfibre seats are sourced from the McLaren Senna, with orange contrast stitching. Six-point harnesses also feature, while a carbonfibre transmission tunnel and door inserts and an upgraded Bowers & Wilkins sound system are showcased. Detail touches to the interior include bespoke embroidery in the headrests, ‘600LT’ etching on the throttle pedals and even a set of hand-painted keys. The 600LT’s performance is unchanged over the standard car, with a 592bhp twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 taking it from 0-62mph in 2.8sec and on to a top speed of 204mph.
  2. Some of you may know, but just in case.. Recently got into some situations, when I was coming out of a car park and the barrier refuse to open. The box says "No entry record" One time I was lucky, push the intercom button and someone open the barrier. 2nd time was not, nobody answers the intercom and a frustrated queue of cars formed behind and started honking. Case 1: I was exiting the car park when I got a ping for a pickup. The pickup location was right behind me in another car park. The gantry had open, but I reverse back to go around and exit via another gantry of the same car park. Big mistake. "No enty record", cannot exit. Case 2: I enter a open air car park, and then want to get out, but the place was blocked with illegal parking. So I saw some space near the entry to the MSCP. I moved forward to reverse. Unfortunately too near the MSCP and the gate open. I didn't go in, but reverse to get out of the open space car park. Again "No entry record" Now, this is the problem. You are headed into an EPS car park, your IU is recorded. Then when you get out, your IU record is DELETED when the gantry opens. If the gantry opens and you didn't go through, but reverse back. Your record is DELETED and you can't get out again - No entry record If a MSCP is fully enclosed within a open air car park EPS, you drive into the MSCP, your open air car park record is DELETED. Only when you exit the MSCP into the open air car park, then you have an entry record. So the next time, you see an empty lot just besides the exit gantry, be careful when you're reversing into the lot. Go too far forward and you trigger the exit gantry, your entry record is deleted. Then you reverse and parked happily, until you try to get out - No entry record.
  3. public announcement service From September 6-15, 2019, Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, and Employment Pass holders will be able to enter park for free. The period falls on the September school holidays. Tickets are usually S$25.50 for adults and S$17 for children. Out of the 15 exhibits, however, five will be gated. Visitors can pay S$2 to visit each individual exhibit. All three shows will require a fee of S$4 per area. Coupons in sets of S$10 can be purchased on site. A bit confused with the pricing thou....... free entry, why not just make it fully free?

  5. Basically I wrote a feedback to LTA asking why is Vehicle Entry Permit for foreign cars cheaper when compared to current COE prices. Basically singaporeans who bidded for todays COE prices has signed up for an extremely expensive price for TEN YEARS. Foreign cars just has to pay VEP at $20/day for WEEKDAYS. It is FREE on weekends. This is the reply. I mean got reply like not reply. So what is LTA's stand???? never say anything at all. LTA is getting really bad ---------------- Dear Sir, I would like to take this opportunity to clarify on the VEP scheme for foreign-registered cars in Singapore. The Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) is a scheme for foreign car owners who drive in for business and tourism reasons. For this reason, the VEP fee is levied on foreign-registered cars to mitigate the cost difference of using foreign and Singapore-registered cars due to differences in road tax, insurance, fuel, etc. The VEP fees is regularly reviewed and is currently under review. We thank you for your feedback. Regards, Irene Liew
  6. Anyone installed the above? hows the review? am thinking of getting both as i am lazy to look for keys.
  7. Given the cutting of vehicle growth rate to zero, should there be more restrictions on Malaysia vehicles entering Singapore? Maybe I am biased, but I am seeing more and more Malaysia plated vehicles nowadays. Not just long-haul trucks, but many vans, etc. Pickup-trucks carrying a trunk full of ladders, etc, going at 100km/h on first lane. Obviously not here for "social visit" !!! As the cost of operating a vehicle in Singapore goes up, it will be more competitive for Malaysia vehicles to operate here. Obviously it is a violation of visa policy for Malaysians to undertake commercial activities here with only a visitor visa, but these rules are unenforceable. It might be the case that any particular Malaysia vehicle cannot stay here for too long. However, if you look at the entire vehicle population in Singapore, then at any point in time, my estimate is that a significant proportion of vehicles on the roads are from Malaysia. If we could eliminate these vehicles, this will mean more COE available for Singapore cars !!! Another thing is those Malaysia long-haul trucks, spewing massive plumes of thick black smoke. They should be forced to unload at the customs and transfer their cargo to local trucks !
  8. Hi all, I've forget what is following road sign means, can someone explain here Single Z line on the road shoulder side means... Thanks

  10. Their reply was classic but the entries AFTER was lagi classic Nikon's FB post goes viral due to photoshopped winning entry Nikon Singapore has gotten plenty of flak online after naming an allegedly badly-photoshopped photograph as a prize-winning shot on its official Facebook page on Jan 29, 2016. Screengrab: Nikon Singapore/Facebook Prize winner has apologised for his mistake, claiming it was a 'joke' BY WONG CASANDRA [email protected] PUBLISHED: 7:34 PM, JANUARY 30, 2016 UPDATED: 9:18 PM, JANUARY 31, 2016 SINGAPORE — A post on Nikon Singapore's Facebook page has gone viral with over 25,000 likes, close to 19,000 shares and 4,000 replies — but for all the wrong reasons. In the post —which has since been deleted —, the camera maker had awarded Mr Chay You Wei a Nikon trolley bag worth S$169 for being this week's NikonCaptures winner. He had submitted a black and white photo of an aeroplane flying overhead framed by a ladder, one which many netizens have pointed out to be a badly-photoshopped image.

  13. Hi Folks, Need some help from those car experts here. My car uses a keyless entry/push-start button system. It is factory fitted (JDM). In the last week or so, I started having issues opening doors. Intermittently I'll have to press the door button / keys a few times before the doors will unlock. Today for the first time, my car could not even start! The key could not be detected! Finally after letting the engine rest for a couple of mins, I managed to get it started again. I've changed my key batteries. Confirmed also not the car battery since I changed it only in Feb 2012. What other possibilities are there? Also if the engine can't detect my keys again, what else can I do to get it started so that I can drive it to the workshop? Appreciate your help. Cheers!

  20. SINGAPORE: Singapore citizens and permanent residents will get free entry to all national museums and heritage institutions from May 18. They include Asian Civilisations Museum, National Museum of Singapore, Peranakan Museum, Singapore Art Museum, Singapore Philatelic Museum, Malay Heritage Centre and the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. The National Heritage Board (NHB) is hoping to draw in the crowds with new hands-on activities and story telling is one way it hopes to engage the visitors. In the past 10 years, it has seen a three-fold increase in visitor numbers from 1.1 million in 2003 to 2.8 million in 2012, and NHB said increasingly, visitors want to do more than just walk around the museums. Director of corporate communications at NHB, Cheryl Koh, elaborated: "Actually museums are really interactive places. We have grown to become more engaging as well. We are no longer just dusty places that we put dusty artefacts around." This year's Children's Season exhibition will coincide with the start of free entry. Making traditional snacks like Ang Ku Kueh is one of the highlights of the Children's Season exhibition. There will be many more hands-on activities at the National Museum of Singapore. Other museums will hold exhibitions and activities for children till end-June. Since the government announced plans for free entry during the Budget this year, the National Museum has received about 20 per cent more enquiries from the public about its programmes. On average, it gets about 30 calls a month. Ms Koh said NHB isn't setting visitor targets but it is closely monitoring visitors' response. "In engagement, we will see from the numbers, when people come and sign up for our programmes when they visit our museums. We will then see whether they are engaged. If they don't sign up for programmes, our programmes have no sign ups at all, then we will know that we are not moving in the right direction and perhaps we will have to do a tweak," she said. With free entry, NHB said it hopes more will use museums as a platform to bond and reflect on Singapore's heritage and history. - CNA/fa http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singap...4.html?cid=FBSG
  21. been a long time i went to orchard, so when i was checking park-a-lot apps on Paragon parking rate, i was disappointed that they implemented per entry surcharge ($2 daily) on top of the regular hourly fee. sooner or later, more mall/building will follow suit...... car owners really suck thumb http://paragon.sg/directions do you agree with me?
  22. Any bros know if a car engine started, and the key is not in the car. How far can the car travel? A noob question but never try this out before. Any bros know this?
  23. The COE was set up to limit the amount of cars on the road, but it does not look like that it is effective and responsive. There is always a few months/years lag between cutting the quotas and getting a reduction on the roads. I think that the COE system should be scraped, and replaced with a usage based system. Since we have the ERP system, it would be seamless to switch. I suggest the following. $15
