Hurricane Irene left a trail of flood and destruction in the United States of America, but still, many had to work hard to help people in need. This national guard put his own life at risk as he was driving a truck on the flooded streets of Manville, NJ. Everything in name of the United States of America Man, remember...cars are not submarines

Hey all, Had the resonator removed from my Aveo today at the CCK meetup. It's a half hour job (if you have the right tools)... It's easy. You have to remove the 4 nuts that hold the panel down in the driver-side front wheel well / bumper. Careful to keep the nuts, and the 2 silver retaining tabs at the bumper (otherwise you won't be able to reattach the 2 9mm nuts. The resonator under the panelling is held down by 3 nuts. Undo those, yank the whole box out and wala!!! Yes.... you'll have to replace the panelling... The resonator is basically a plastic U-bend tube that has a large plastic chamber at the bottom of the U-bend. According to something i read a long time ago, the resonator's chamber size is "scientifically calculated" according to the size of the engine, filter element, etc to resonate (or cancel) out most of the induction sounds. Another function of it to to trap leaves!! OK some clarification, I've had an aftermarket filter in my car for some months already.. (thanks encik!!) and the sound is definately louder than the stock filter. Funny thing is... after driving with the resonator OFF today... I find that the sound has become softer!! In 2nd gear, climbing slope... I don't get the "I'm an Aveo trying to be a Porsche" growling sound.. something more mellow and refined... Some bros here report lower intake temps... I confirm next week :-) Also, a bit more power which, i like!! (coz the air doesn't have to go thru the U-bend...maybe) So the resonator is sitting at home now... maybe later I dismantle it and see if I can make some kind of CAI with the plastic fittings (and some tubing) to hook it up to the front grill or something... dunno whether got space or not?? Many many thanks to all the dudes and dudettes for their help, tools and support. So many ppl standing behind me when I was doing it... i feel so loved ... and one more tip hor... wear shorts and T-shirt, and prepare to sweat a bit! Thanks again bros!!!!

Hi all, Just as I thought the ordeal was over and done with, my car plate numbers came out on 4D last Sunday! Yes, you might have guessed, I didn't buy... Actually, that was not the worst part, it's this: The workshop owner told me this is the 'first' time they cocked up and since the name was pasted 'tombalek', I should go buy and I laughed and said I certainly would and will go buy a new car! Well, as if it's all predetermined by Mr. Up There already, we were so busy doing spring cleaning, we forgot about the time. And there it was, the numbers came out 'tombalek' as starters and we could've a comfortable new year...
