  1. Flyer distributors are mostly known to scam businesses of their money. I have been scammed before, but do believe there are some good ones out there. Does anyone have good experiences or bad experiences with flyer distributors to share? Any good distributors to recommend?

  5. Here's the situation... We went ahead with the decal orders and got each member to pay $16 so that we could meet the required amount of cash to realise the order of 100 (minimum) decals. (The sum of $16 for each member came about previously from the quote of $8 each per sticker/decal with running numbers, the idea was scrapped in favour of normal decals which were cheaper and due to concerns from members regarding their rides being "marked" with individual numbers by the public ) Final price for the decals was negotiated by Skodee with the printer and the price was brought down to a total of $270 for 100 decals Current orders from supportive members are 18 orders (Paid) Meaning I've collected $288, which more than covers the required $270 My suggestion is Each of the 18 members who have paid will get 5 decals each ($2.70 x 5 = $13.50) I will refund each of the 18 who have paid $2.50 which will mean that a total of 90 decals will be distributed. The remaining 10 decals will be bought by me... and I will use these 10 decals to sell to new members coming in... Subsequently after the 10 decals have been sold, any of the 18 members who wish to sell away any of the 5 decals they have can do so to the newer members... I know this is kind of messy, but hope you guys understand that it's all in the name of making the club decals happen... to bring it into reality This is just what I suggest... if anyone else have any suggestions or feel that this is unfair... please feel free to comment or voice your opinions on this matter

  7. Dear all MCFers, I know there are quite a number of businessmen here and I have some questions on importing seafood from Indonesia for distribution in Singapore. I really need to seek your kind enlightenment on the procedures. I have an Indonesian relative who would like to work with me to transport a bulk of fresh lobster/prawns into Singapore for distribution to our local restaurants. He is an established businessman in Indonesia and can settle all the stuffs/paper work over at the Indonesian custom. If I were to act as his Singapore counter-part for distribution here, what are the issues I need to take note of e.g. tax, paper-work, AVA clearance (how to)? I am completely new to this area. Can someone please shed some light? Apollo, Porker and others, are you here? Probably need your advice as you have been my encyclopedia all these while!

At the TC meetup, I complained to Ajedi72 (hope you don't mind my bringing this up here) about my Fabby having trouble to start up immediately after I switch it off, the battery indicator that doesn't disappear until i rav my car once after starting & flickering lights when the engine is idle. Then he mentioned something about power distribution box (a part in the car I wasn't awared existed). So, what can I do if it's the power distribution box? How to check if it's the box that is giving trouble? How much would it cost to get it changed?

Comfort quitting 2 businesses, 50 jobs may go Taxi operator's 9-mth profit jumps 40.5% to $72.6m By CHRISTOPHER TAN (SINGAPORE) Singapore Labour Foundation-linked Comfort Group is dumping its courier and car distribution businesses - a move expected to cost 50 or more jobs - despite posting another set of glowing financial results yesterday. In an apparent review of all 'non-core' activities in light of its proposed union with bus group DelGro Corp, Comfort said it would exit the two loss-making businesses on March 30. Analysts reckon there may be more streamlining to come. Last year, the group sold another business in Hong Kong, barely a year after buying into it. It has yet to receive full payment for the sale. It also sold NCH (Tampines), a venture that developed executive condos, last year. Comfort, which is reliant on the taxi business, yesterday posted a 40.5 per cent rise in net earnings to $72.6 million for the nine months ended Dec 31, 2002. Turnover was up 8.4 per cent at $369.9 million. Its profitability was boosted by the continued conversion of smaller taxis to bigger ones (which command higher rental from the drivers), as well as Singapore's lowered corporate tax rate. The latter resulted in a $6.8 million writeback for the period. G K Goh senior analyst Teo Hiang Boon reckons its full-year earnings will hit $94 million - or nearly 40 per cent higher than the previous record of $68 million. Despite the less-than-ideal timing, exiting the car and courier businesses was not entirely unexpected. Comfort entered motor distribution back in 1996 to great fanfare. After selling previous franchises (including Peugeot, which current representative Sime Darby is said to be making decent returns from), the latest move jettisons the remaining Seat and Perodua car units, as well as the Hicom truck unit, a non-starter. It entered the courier business in 2000, when it sought to tap the potential of the delivery service on the back of a booming e-commerce sector. It also had scooters left over from the relinquished Piaggio agency. The e-commerce boom did not quite materialise. With the imminent merger with DelGro, analysts say Comfort - as well as DelGro - will review all non-performing and non-core businesses. For the period under review, Comfort's earnings per share rose to nine cents, from 6.4 cents previously. Net asset value per share stood at 65.2 cents, from 59.6 cents at March 31, 2002. The board has declared a second gross interim dividend of 9 per cent, or 2.25 cents. Together with the interim dividend paid on Dec 17, total interim dividends for the nine-month period is 15 per cent, or 3.75 cents.
