Am very delighted when Nan Hua Pri Sch (NHPS) accepted my application as PV for my daughter's enrolment for P1 in 2012. However, me now staying >2km (at CCK)...thus am contemplating very hard on whether to shift house. Have checked the property prices (both HDB and pte) in Clementi area (especially within 1 km of NHPS) and it is quite high...or should I enrol in a decent neighbourhood sch within my resident vicinity and then enrol her for tuition and enrichment classes instead?? At CCK, I am considering South View Pri (within 1km to 2km from where I stay) and Yew Tee Pri (within 1km from where I stay)...however, for both 2008 and 2009, South View Pri has balloting even in Phase 2B for those residing within 1km, while for Yew Tee Pri, balloting was applicable for phase 2C only. Thus far, NHPS only has balloting for phase 2B in 2008. For 2009 and a few years before 2008, there was no balloting in phase 2B. Haiz...really in a dilemma...any advice from gurus here?? Many thks!! Will like advice from fellow car enthusiasts for advice on the 3 cars: Which will you put your money in and why? (Thanks for giving me your reason!) I am aware that the 3 of them belong to different categories but their prices are pretty similar and imho, they all look good and each one with their individual ups & downs. WHICH is WHY I am caught in a dilemma in which to get. I had also test driven them, except the CLA250(not available for test drive) and am loving how the Jag handles and how wonderful the pull of the BMW is. Test driven the CLA180SB, underpowered and am not a fan of FWD, especially so for wagon driving. For my needs, it's basically a 4-5door family-type of car with a fun aspect, definitely. Not too shabby a price when I sell in 3-4years time. Jaguar XE CLA 250 Shooting Brake BMW 330i, F30 Thanks in advance for all your helpful inputs!

Hi All, need advise. Been driving since 2004... 1st was van, 2nd Honda city, now is Axio. expecting 2nd child next year. Hence Axio will not have enough space for 2 child seats and mother in law n helper. So need to find 7 seater or 8 Seater. What is the best way to sell my current ride (expire june 2018) and maybe look for Estima (prefer COE car). ISIS (hard to find spares) i prefer Jap cars. 1. why is the price for coe cars so high? if i understand once the car past its 10 yr mark no value, so just have to add the new coe price. but dealers price is up to 80 - 90 K!!!! 2. Is it better to buy a 7-8 yr car and once coe expire, can renew? 3. And of course minimum cash pls.... diapers n baby stuff not cheap... Pls share your experience n advise

My fren is facing a big dilemma. He is staying on a landed property near CBD, abt the size of half football field. The property is handed down from his parents who paid it thru their blood, sweat n tears. I estimate it worth S$10-15million??? He said 15yrs ago his neighbour sold theirs at S$9million. His property is a corner lot and the very first unit from the main road. He has no intention to sell but his siblings are bent on selling otherwise there will be a court case. He is in no position to buy over his siblings share as he definately could not come out with that sort of cash!!! He has been the only one staying on the property and taking care of it all these years. Parents already long gone. If it were u, will u sell??? Or fight a long court case???

Malaysia road a lot of potholes.) Was told can do 12km/l 1 year break even Insurance more expensive by 200 plus Option 2 Mitsubishi airtrek 2.0 non turbo Jan 2006 Coe:13300 Omv:19437 Full service record by c&c Asking price 33000 non nego Timing belt changed 20k ago Tires 2 years ago Road tax till July 3 years break even Insurance cheaper by 200 plus Installment cheaper slightly Was told 55 litre tank and can do 600km per tank Reading on Internet and people saying can only do about 7-8km/l (if really like that, big issue cause i travel a lot ) My wife and I really like the space of the airtrek. I think it's 129hp and 14xx kg I'm not the tiong kind but 129hp 14xxkg seems underpowered. I worried I will struggle overtaking and going up hill. One more thing, I am more cost sensitive than performance sensitive Someone advise please?

I have a friend that is in a big dilemma. Recently, he went to a couple of interviews back to back. Its special in the sense that one is in U.K, the other in Germany. Both companies wanted to hire him. Thats when the headache begins, but you have to be patient to hear the story. Lets talk a little of this friend. He work for an German automotive supplier which have an office in Sunny Singapore. Due to his work nature, he had the rare chance to work together for the better of 2008 with an automaker in U.K for a project. He was station right in the lion (or a very big cat, if you get my hint) den of the automaker. He had a good working relationship with the people there & hence given the chance to apply & subsequently get an interview. But that was not after the credit crutch & automotive depression of 2009-2010. While waiting for his chance, he got an opportunity for a position in Germany for his parent company (permanent post), & hence went to Germany for interview to get to know the place, & speak to HR. He was offer a very attractive deal (even by German standard) So both interviews took place in the space of 3 days. That was 2 weeks ago. The problem with the job in U.K is while they agree to hire him in principle, the VISA is a major issue that need to be sorted out, as there are very limited work VISA (unlike Sunny Singapore) available. The VISA need time to process, & no granatee of success. By the time the VISA application result is out, he would have missed the deadline to accept the offer in Germany. On the contrary, the Work permit for Germany is a breeze due to the more lenient German rule, high position assigned for me, & it is an internal company transfer. In fact the boss over there wanted him to sign on the spot, but he told the boss he need time to considered. However, time is limited as they need to fill the position fast for an incoming project. His headache 1) Should he took the risk, on his more prefer job to work for an automaker, his preferred choice, & hope he can one day be the lead project manager of a production car or more (no guarantee also since its a hot seat), in a charming country that he is familiar with. Its a big risk if the VISA application fail, as he will not only loses this chance, but also the chance in Germany as well. 2) Or should he play safe to join his parent company in the job that he know pays well, knowing the only thing that stand between the job is his signature on the contract. Its a new country that he did not know if he can adapt, & he didn't speak German too (but that can be learn), but he believe he will be able to adapt to the country. Worst if he can't adapt, he can always come back to Singapore office after a couple of years. 3) Or should he play b------d (at least this once) & sign for the job in Germany, & at the same time continue application for U.K work visa. If the VISA is ok, He can tender his resignation for the job in Germany, & join the U.K automaker. But it is not very nice, & against his value, He also feel it is unfair to the people in Germany to help him process the necessary paperwork to get him there, as well as loss time which they can be used to hired someone. He is in a big dilemma & can't sleep well since he returned from Europe. He knew very well each of these chances do not come often, let alone both, & at the same time. If he is not careful, he could lose both, & never had such good chances again while he is still young. What do you guys think he should do? Any good advices. He need to make a very critical decision soon. Remember this isn't just a job he need to consider, but also 2 fairly different countries to live for at least the considerable future. Any feedback is appreciated.

My friend has a little housing problem. His parents of two different races divorced when he was young. He stays with his father from young in a three room hdb flat. His two other bros stay with his mother in another three room flat. From young he followed his father religion aka carefree type while his bros follow their mum's religion, every friday praying. His father in his late 60's went Batam had his fun and made the playmate pregnant. So he brought the playmate back to SG n registered their marriage. His father told my fren that he needs to move off as he would like to form a new family with the new wife and their newborn. So my fren packed his bags and moved in with his mother. Its a bit of a squeeze but my fren dont mind. But the thing is his mother is of religious type and my fren is the club hopping type. His mother cant stand her son behaviour and always nag at my fren. But my fren was brought up that way by his father, the carefree way. He is in his late 30's but have zero dollar in his piggy bank to move out or pay for any COV for resale hdb flat. He cant stand his mother nagging too. He is the type who spend watever he earns. Please dont ask him to convert to his mother's religon, that will never happen. I made it clear to him that he cant stay with me. Any advise for my fren???

I am at a career cross-road junction. It was not easy finding a job here. My wife and I have the same problem and we have been into a career-drought over the last few months. Ironically, it might be because of our over-qualifications. I sent out a lot of applications but hardly received any reply. Fortunately, I received a telephone call this morning. The HR from a local polytechnic told me that I have passed the 2 rounds of interviews, and made an offer to me over the phone. I am supposed to give them a reply by tomorrow morning (is this too short)? Meanwhile, my newly-wed wife received an offer from a semi-con company at California (also Today). Over the last 2 years, she was alone at Texas and I quited my job some time back to go over as she needed some help. I had difficulty in getting a job in Texas then as many companies were freezing headcount (due to poor US economy outlook). She decided to return as being alone there wasn't easy for her. When she returned, she couldn't find a job here. Out of her job applications, one company from US was among the first few to reply. Today, she received an offer from California. Each of us knew that we are going to stay in the next job for at least 3 years. That means we are going to stay apart for another 3 years. We have already been separated in the last 2 years as she was in Texas and I am in Singapore. That would make a total separation of 5 years for a newly-wed couple. What are your views? Has anyone been in this situation before?

Today is the first day of TPY ERP.......... Was in dilemma of whether to pay for $1/- entry or $1.40 plus 35 ~ 45 minutes of time wasting...... As usual, after sending my children to school, I will pass-by the said place at around 8.15 am or 8.20 am. depending of the jam at the Braddell overhead bridge (coming from Lornie Rd & Bishun Rd) before going home to change and headed for office. Its either pay $1/- per entry or................ sipping teh si at Bishan coffee killing time...... (Teh si is $0.90/- plus parking coupon $0.50/- plus 35 ~ 45 minutes time wasting) Decided to pay $1/- (since today is the first day & testing the water) and although traffic is better (no more jam at the overhead bridge leading to Lor 6 TPY). So after much decision making, I will go office early . from tomorrow. (an hour plus early) and surf MCF before starts of working time....... Hope that boss could notice that I am first in office........ (but serving the net.....hee...hee...hee...)

My father was telling me his office has implemented the ERP parking system. Meaning to say, the management will allow a monthly season parking based on the IU serial number. They do not allow a person to register two/more IU serial number for seaon parking, unless you pay for another season parking lot! So anyone know how/what is the bast option if my father wants to drive my mum's car to work on certain days. Don't tell me, to just pay up or to pay hourly rate for the second car. Is it possible to buy another portable IU (like those for bike) from LTA? Then just place it on the dashboard of which ever car my father chose to drive on anyday?

Hi bros out there. Having a dilemma now. Just dekit my humble ICE from my Protege and now contemplating whether to transfer over to my Civic FD. Below are the items: 1. PHD FB6.1Pro 6.5in component speakers 2. Audison LrX4.300 4 channel amplifier 3. 10in MTX sub in custom box powered by Sony Monoblock Already gave my Alpine 9815 HU and 12 disc changer to my brother in law as my new car has integrated HU. My dilemma is that I do not intend to add a processor like the H701 to my current setup. I am planning just to hook up the amps and sub using hi-lo convertors straight or the most add a preamp in between. I am not sure whether how much better will the sound be. If I reinstall back the system, I will be doing 2 layer of SP on the front door also. The whole installation process will cost anything between 300-400 inclusive of SP. I am thinking whether is it worth to install back or just sell of the above and then buy a reasonable component like CDT CL62 to replace the front speakers and let it drive my HU. Comments appreciated as I have thinking over for more than 2 months and I have not come to a conclusion. Cheers!

Just pondering over this situation now. Hope fellow skodians can help out. My skoda is coming to its 6th year very soon, in mid july actually. Paper value will be about 36k if i scrap soon. Outstanding loan about 8k. Overall the car is still in OK condition. Not sure what will happen within the next few months or so. So the thing now is, whether its worth to scrap the car now and get a new car. I'm looking at a few cars actually. 1) Octavia RS 2) Golf GTi 3) Honda Civic 4) Legacy GT

Hi guys, I am a noob here, just want to know the pros and cons of the Toyota Vios 1.5L M/T and the Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6L M/T I haven't test drive the cars yet, so I don't really know the performance. But from what I can see in the showroom: Vios Pros: -Nicer interior, better looking upholstery -Better looking dashboard -Tachometer looks newer -Sporty looking -Front seats are height adjustable, backrest can adjust to fit the spine -Rear seats are higher -Car is lighter 970kg, thus assuming lower fuel consumption Cons -Interior less spacious -Car is shorter and narrower -No foldable rear seats -Smaller tyres -Smaller engine capacity of 1.5L -Sales engineer at Leng Kee not so friendly -Tachometer is in the center between front passenger and driver, ON TOP of the dashboard, may obstruct driver's view Lancer Pros: -Larger tyres -Tried and tested car -Car is longer and wider -Larger engine capacity of 1.6L -Interior more spacious -Foldable rear seats -Sales engineer more helpful -Tachometer is directly in front of the driver Cons -Interior and upholstery looks old, like those 80s or 90s cars -Tachometer looks like those taxis type -No frills interior -No mudguards, but the brochure said got mudguards -Front seats not height adjustable -Rear seats are lower -Car colours are limited (silver, blue, red, black) -Car is heavier about 1100kg, thus assuming higher fuel consumption Does anyone have any experience in owning or driving these 2 cars before? Or even if u have not, can u share ur experience? Particularly in terms of ENGINES and PERFORMANCE. Thanks a lot for ur feedback.

Hello Pple, Hey I'm new to this forum, came across it when I was surfing to find out more information on the Audi A4. I've got a real dilemma. I've been driving my Ford Mondeo for about 2 years now, bought it new from Regent at 97k with 3 yrs free servicing and 5 yrs warranty. Recently, just for fun, I floored the accelerator pedal and thereafter, the engine started to become very noisy each time I drive the car - was quite disappointed. I'm thinking of changing to an Audi A4 2.0mu - they are offering quite a good deal on the current model before the facelifted one comes into the SG market. I test drove the vehicle, really like the interior and the "solidness", but given that my Mondeo is still under free servicing and warranty, I'm really not sure if changing at this time is a good idea.... Any of you been in a similar situation and can offer some advise ? Or if you're currently driving an Audi A4 2.0mu, perhaps you can enlighten me on the pros and cons about the car ? Will really appreciate it !! Thanks all !

Just got my Focus and I'm considering either the W30 or W40 oil... Of course W30 is for better mileage but I'm worried that it may not offer sufficient engine protection. Has anyone tried both and would like to share his experience? Thanks!!!
