In July 2021, Fairprice issued a statement that label accuracy was of “paramount” importance to them: https://mothership.sg/2021/07/fairprice-wrong-label-fish/amp/ And in the last week alone, two more cases of label inaccuracy have surfaced…… Chicken: https://mothership.sg/2022/02/fairprice-chicken-breast-overpriced-weight-wrong/ Salmon: https://mothership.sg/2022/02/fairprice-salmon-wrong-label-weight-price/ I guess that’s what paramount means……

I ordered two bottles of qv wash for $55 from ntuc and added some coconut water for $6 to get free delivery. ntuc just amended my order and remove the qv wash and proceeded to send me the $6 coconut water while charging me $4 service fee. I have never met an online retailer than just suka suka amend the customer order and then send it out. Crazy… had to waste my time contacting customer support, get my order cancelled and wait for refund. ….

Food delivery firms take up third-party liability insurance Pedestrians now better placed to claim for damages should they get into accident involving riders Pedestrians are now better placed to claim for damages should they get into an accident involving riders from food delivery services in Singapore. Deliveroo and Grab have already taken up third-party liability insurance for their riders, while a third company, Foodpanda, is looking into purchasing the insurance. Early this week, Active Mobility Advisory Panel chairman Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said his panel is considering recommending that such insurance be made mandatory for food delivery firms. In a Facebook post on Monday, Dr Faishal said: "We are considering third-party liability insurance, to give more peace of mind to pedestrians and riders if an accident occurs." He said more details on the potential recommendation would be announced later. Dr Faishal had said last month that his panel was concerned about reports of reckless food delivery riders who rush to make deliveries, and that it was actively looking into stronger measures to ensure that the riders are covered by third-party liability insurance. Mr Steven Lim, a member of the panel and president of the Safe Cycling Task Force, said on Wednesday that while no final decision has been made on the recommendations, food delivery companies are already encouraged to take up such insurance. He said: "The food delivery riders are the ones who actually spend a lot of time on the streets, they clock higher mileage, so the chances of them getting into an accident are actually higher than other users." Both Grab and Deliveroo told The Straits Times that they had already purchased third-party liability insurance for their riders. Deliveroo said all 6,000 of its riders have been covered by insurance for free since May last year. "Accident insurance is applicable to riders on all vehicle types and their substitutes, while all cyclists and e-scooter riders also have access to third-party liability insurance," it said. Riders are covered by insurance at a value of up to US$1.5 million (S$2.03 million) in the event that they cause injury to another person while making a delivery. The insurance would also protect the rider in cases of property damage and cover any legal costs incurred. Grab, which runs GrabFood, said its riders have been covered by third-party insurance since June 14. It said the coverage aims to provide peace of mind to both pedestrians and delivery riders. It did not disclose the total number of riders insured or the monetary value of the coverage. Foodpanda's public relations team did not respond to ST's requests for comment, but ST understands that the company is also looking into buying third-party liability insurance for its riders. Ms Lee Bee Wah, MP for Nee Soon GRC, previously suggested that third-party liability insurance be made mandatory for personal mobility device users. She told ST that the developments are a good step forward. "Having mandatory insurance for (riders) could help many pedestrians feel they have at least some recourse," she said. "More importantly, food delivery companies should hold their riders accountable for any accidents, using their tracking technology if needed." https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/food-delivery-firms-take-up-third-party-liability-insurance covers pedestrians only, no mention of cars ....

NV200 takes out a Domino's delivery bike at a discretionary right turn
millanda posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
TL;DR - Domino's Pizza delivery bike plays real-life game of dodge the NV200 at a discretionary right turn Pizza delivery gone wrong. Watch this 40 second clip of the collision. What Happened? A Nissan NV200 collided with a Domino's Pizza delivery bike at the discretionary right turn junction on Pioneer North Road in Singapore, under the PIE Flyover. The incident caused damage to both vehicles and raised concerns about road safety for delivery drivers. According to eyewitnesses, the Domino's Pizza delivery bike was traveling straight on Pioneer North Road when the Nissan NV200 made a right turn without signaling, causing the collision. The delivery driver was thrown from his bike and sustained minor injuries, while the NV200 suffered significant damage to its front end. Online Chat Amongst the hundreds of comments, the majority of them were pinpointing that this road is extremely dangerous. Hello @LTA? So please have more patience for people who are delivering your food, they’re delivering more than just your pizza - it comes with a side of risk. Nissan NV200 driver and the rider must have forgotten they're not playing Mario Kart… Takeaway The incident highlights the importance of road safety, especially at discretionary right turns where accidents are usually most seen at such junctions. Delivery riders, who are often required to navigate busy roads and make multiple stops in a short amount of time, make them the ones that are most at risk of such accidents. Above all, all drivers should practice cautiousness on the road and be extra vigilant - treat all junctions as accident black-spot zones and ride expecting the unexpected. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. MCD's employees were first warned of layoff plans in early January 2023: https://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-ceo-warns-staff-of-possible-layoffs-in-spring-2023 But in an announcement last week, MCD's corporate employees were told to work remotely from April 3-5 and to reschedule any in-person meetings at McDonald's global headquarters in Chicago in order to "communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization." Summary: 1 McDonald's offices will temporarily close as the company prepares for layoffs, per an internal memo. 2 The company is shifting its strategy to focus on digital, delivery, and restaurant unit growth. McDonald's employs over 150,000 corporate employees, including employees at its corporate-owned restaurants. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/read-full-memo-mcdonalds-outlines-133349184.html Time to move on to KFC? SINGAPORE - Mr Adam Syah, whose renditions of pop tunes on a community piano posted on TikTok have caught the public’s attention, is a self-taught player who has never owned the musical instrument. The 21-year-old student and part-time GrabFood delivery rider said he started playing around with the piano when he was in secondary school as there was one in the foyer that was made available to students. He said in an interview with The Straits Times: “Since the piano was not really used by anyone else, I had a chance to play almost every day during recess, so I could practise whichever song I was trying to learn at the time. “I would watch YouTube to learn the basic chords in a song and then figure out the melody myself.” Prior to his sessions at the community piano at Block 107 Yishun Ring Road, he had not touched a piano in at least a year, he said. He had come across the piano while he was out delivering food. “I went to send the food to the customer first, as I did not want it to get cold, and then on my way down I decided to just stop and try playing a song,” said Mr Adam, who is pursuing a diploma in fine arts at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. His first TikTok video taken at the community piano and posted on Dec 24 – of him playing the tune Rather Be by British electronic group Clean Bandit – has chalked up over 160,000 views and more than 22,000 likes. A subsequent video, in which he played the melody from Ed Sheeran’s hit Shape Of You, has garnered nearly 80,000 views and over 7,000 likes. The response has been a nice surprise, he said. Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam is one of those who have commented about Mr Adam’s performances. He said in a Facebook post: “Something truly joyful about this. The undiscovered, free-spirited talent. The beauty of spontaneous jamming.” The attention Mr Adam has drawn comes after a video showing the musical talent of two cleaners at the Pandan Valley condominium estate drew many views and likes in August. The two men had chanced upon a discarded piano while taking shelter from the rain at a bin centre there. Mr Sumali Sakarwi, 64, played the piano while his colleague Rosli Samat, 49, sang in their rendition of Ku Di Halaman Rindu, a hit by Malaysian rock band Lefthanded. Mr Adam said that while he has received many comments from people encouraging him to pursue music as a full-time career, he wants to just focus on finishing his diploma studies in the next six months and enlisting for national service. He said: “I enjoy playing the piano and also my other hobbies such as playing the guitar, skateboarding and BMX riding, but for me, these activities are a way to escape and de-stress, so I would rather not turn it into a career.” His tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@morrdecai

Your Porsche might be delayed or up in smoke.... Yahoo news : Cargo ship carrying hundreds of Porsches left to burn in Atlantic after crew flee A cargo ship carrying Porsches and Volkswagen vehicles was abandoned after it caught fire in the middle of the Atlantic, with crew rescued and the ship left to drift. It is not yet clear what caused the blaze aboard the Felicity Ace, but all crew members are thought to have been rescued from the vessel, industry website Auto Evolution reported. Among the cars believed to be on the ship is a Porsche 718 Spyder belonging to You Tube star Matt Farah. “I just got the call from my dealer. My car is now adrift, possibly on fire, in the middle of the ocean,” he tweeted. Volkswagen Group acknowledged the incident in a statement but didn’t provide clarity on the cause. A spokesperson told Insider in a statement: "We are aware of an incident today involving a cargo ship transporting Volkswagen Group vehicles across the Atlantic. At this time, we are not aware of any injuries. We are working with local authorities and the shipping company to investigate the cause of the incident." A Porsche app referenced the incident but did not appear to provide details of the issue. “We are aware of an incident aboard the Felicity Ace, a specialized cargo ship carrying certain Porsche vehicles. Your dealership will provide you with additional information on how this impacts you as soon as we have additional information and know the full scope of the issue,” the message reportedly read. The Associated Press reported that the crew members were taken to Faial island in the Azores, about 100 miles from the ship, and were staying at local hotels. A Portuguese navy commander told the AP that the ship’s massive size would likely preclude it from being towed to port in the Azores. It’s unclear where the ship will ultimately end up. The Associated Press contributed.

ComfortDelGro Cabbies Training To Deliver RedMart Groceries By End-Apr, Expect More Delivery Slots Soon source: https://mustsharenews.com/comfortdelgro-redmart-delivery/ ComfortDelGro, Lazada Collaboration Means Cabbies Will Help Deliver RedMart Groceries, To Cope With Rising Demand If you’ve tried ordering groceries off online supermarket RedMart recently, you’ll know how impossible it is to snag a delivery slot, thanks to the steep rise in people staying at home and ordering in due to the ‘Circuit Breaker’ measures. This problem may soon become a thing of the past, as ComfortDelGro has announced that they are collaborating with Lazada to deliver RedMart groceries to customers by the end of April. Read on for more details about the taxi drivers’ new duties. Meeting the increase in demand Now that people have been advised to stay in, many are opting for online delivery services like RedMart. The online grocer has seen a jump in their number of orders since February this year, and has been working to meet customers’ demands. ComfortDelGro cabbies to deliver RedMart groceries Now that the Government has temporarily eased point-to-point regulations to allow taxi drivers and private-hire vehicle drivers to perform deliveries, some ComfortDelGro cabbies will be helping RedMart deliver groceries in the near future, said the transport company in a press release on Tuesday (14 Apr). ComfortDelGro cabbies who are interested can sign up for the programme. They will undergo necessary training from RedMart in contactless deliveries before starting their new duties. If all goes according to plan, they’ll be helping out with deliveries by the end of this month. With the added help from ComfortDelGro taxis, they’ll be able to cater to the influx of orders better. Guess we’ll all be able to get our groceries delivered during the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period after all! Win-win-win situation for all This doesn’t benefit just RedMart, which will be able to get more of their products out in less time, and their customers – who will have an easier time finding delivery slots – but also cabbies, who will be able to earn a living during these tough times. ComfortDelGro Taxi’s chief operating officer Tommy Tan said in the statement, Lazada eLogistics Singapore executive vice-president Jamil Khan expounded on the benefits of the tie-up by saying, ComfortDelGro cabby Lim Yong Tze, who is one of the drivers who will be trained to deliver groceries, is looking forward to the training, and also said, Supporting each other through the ‘Circuit Breaker’ It’s great to see companies rolling out measures and collaborations to help their workers get through this slow period. Lest you think delivery riders are raking it in due to the increase in orders, many are still not making much, due to the increased competition. So do consider showing your support by tipping them if you can, or leaving a good review. Okay. Now there is one more reason for you to stay home and save lives!

Hi I understand some cars need to undergo a pre-delivery inspection (PDI) before they are delivered to the customers. I understand that PDI takes about a week to complete. Can anyone explain why it take so long? What does PDI entail? I understand that some, if not all, Conti cars undergo PDI before the cars are collected by the customers. Does this practice extend to the Japanese and Korean cars? Please enlighten. Thanks

Is he going to pay with joss paper? https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/taiwan-delivery-man-crash-4-ferraris-11042828 SINGAPORE: A Taiwanese delivery man who crashed his van into four Ferraris could face a six-figure repair bill, local media reported. The 20-year-old, surnamed Lin, was delivering joss paper early on Sunday morning (Dec 16) in New Taipei's Shiding District when the accident happened, said Taiwan's Mirror Media. The young man's family runs a joss paper business. The man was helping his mother with deliveries as she had taken ill that morning, TVBS reported. Lin was driving at about 40kmh and was tired from delivering goods overnight, the police said. No one was injured. The police also said that media coverage of the accident have garnered support from dozens of people, who have offered Lin financial help. The four sports cars were among a fleet parked by the side of the road during a Ferrari car owners' meet-up. According to Taiwanese media, the Nissan van crashed into a yellow Ferrari 488, a white Ferrari F12, a blue Ferrari and a red one. The accident left the yellow Ferrari with a gash on its left and its side mirror knocked off - damage that TVBS said could cost more than TW$3.5 million (US$100,000) to repair. The F12 suffered a large dent to its rear. The TV station estimated repairs for the F12 could cost up to TW$5 million (US$160,000). The other two vehicles were not badly damaged. The owner of the red Ferrari has said he will not seek damages, a report said. Read more at https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/taiwan-delivery-man-crash-4-ferraris-11042828

From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_805936.html Concerns about fast-food delivery staff and their motorcycles Published on Jun 2, 2012 I AM concerned by the reckless riding of fast-food delivery staff, especially when they zip along Housing Board void decks to save time or make the delivery deadline. Last Saturday, I saw a Pizza Hut delivery rider doing just that at Marine Parade. I called the Pizza Hut hotline to complain and the reply I received from the manager was that the fast-food chain would look into the matter and counsel the rider. When I asked for the motorcycle licence number, he replied that he did not have it and explained the difficulties in identifying the rider. To his credit, he identified the rider after several calls, but it would not have been possible had I not persisted. When fast-food companies receive complaints, do they actually discipline the riders and to what extent? Over the weekend, I noticed two riders apparently making a delivery for McDonald's on motorcycles carrying Johor licence plates. At least one rider (see photo) was on a motorbike with only a provisional Malaysian licence. Is this legal? Are foreign vehicles allowed to be used for business purposes? How is insurance managed in the event of an accident? The authorities should review policies and regulate fast-food delivery service by motorcycling staff. Fast-food companies should also do the right thing by conducting safety reminders daily to motorcycle delivery staff, handle complaints seriously and be prepared to discipline staff, including terminating the services of such staff and reporting recalcitrant riders to the police. These companies should also review remuneration for these riders to give them an incentive to ride safely while not affecting their income. Until there is an improvement, I shall not be ordering home delivery; not when there is a chance that someone's safety could be at stake. Adrian Lee

Anyone can enlighten me how long will it take from new car registration at LTA to owner taking delivery and what are the procedures/step? what are the things to be done 1st prior to registration? I'm asking cos according to my SE, car already in port and awaiting from superior to approve before he will proceed with the registration. I've asked him question like coe bidding, lta inspection and putting up of additional accessories but the answer is "sorry, have to wait boss instruction 1st". Rather irritated by his answer but guess he's playing it safe and dun wan to commit into anything yet in case something screw up and i no choice but to start banging table liao hehehe.. As for coe, its either they will die die bid 1 for me on the next round or just throw in the cat E, of which i dun really bothered much. But he did promised me on black & white that car will be delivered latest by 26/03/07. So i'm wandering how long it'll take to deliver after registration. Still not confident if they can really do it by the stated date. Will appreciate any info/feedback by those new car buyer who have got their ride. Btw, mine is from PI, quite a reputable one I should say. Thanks.

Sharing this lobang while surfing, i tried their service before and its not bad. They had this DBS deal awhile back and it was a good deal but I missed it. Now just found out they have some deal coming up, looks like leaked or some do-do bird turn on and forgot about it, They are some local online company, seems to be growing quite fast, launch in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan i think, honestbee.com interesting story, love local start ups and I always support they can go out to put Singapore on the map. They have NTUC, so I like...and MMMM! and Pet Lovers' (i have a cat, so easier to order things) Back to the Lobang, found on HWZ - http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/chill-out-hangout-den-234/good-lobang-%2410-off-free-delivery-groceries-5254298.html Took me sometime to figure out the link problem, the actual link - http://district.honestbee.com If I read correct, $50 min spend - $10 = $40 and free delivery...not bad. The Free delivery part excites me every time, no more queueing and carrying heavy stuff, just order and delivery service. - That is the best! Friends always say I don't share lobang, ok, I shared. - peace. -> If you gave lobang will you share? or keep to yourself?

Delivery in progress, back in 10 minutes I see these words permanently displayed in almost all commercial vehicles. I wonder if a delivery is actually in progress. Does it work to ward off the parking attendant? If it does, they'll save a large amount in parking fees each day. In fact, some trucks even have a nice plastic, commercially made sign displayed. Most do not return to the vehicle in 10 minutes, especially when they are enjoying their cup of kopi or lunch. Might want to get a similar sign to display on my car dashboard too if it works.
