This won't replace your Secret Lab chair, but we reckon its nearly as good
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Need a new chair for your home office but don't want a Secret Lab chair like most people do? Check out this very familiar-looking chair that you can now buy at a starting price of $100. Thanks to a local company that specialises in scrapping vehicles, you can now own a part of our public buses that have been prowling our roads for the last 10 or more years. The company, Kim Li Huat, posted this simple and sleek Volvo B9TL CDGE chair that has been blessed with a new base on their company's facebook page, saying that if you wish to buy in bulk, the price even can be lowered. For those who wonder where these seats came from, a quick search on the web showed that these Volvo buses have been plying on our roads for about 15 years (out of their 17-year statutory lifespan) and had their interior refreshed less than 3 years ago before they were taken out of service. Credits to landtransportguru for the info and photos.- 4 comments

Was driving along Jln Besar near the hawker centre this morning in the rain and then this double decker chut pattern: (Paiseh the video quality was as it was recorded by my old DOD FH500 and have since asked our resident car cam guru bro Adrianli for advise to get a new one soon) Agree it was at a bend and that there was an old lady pushing a cart obstructing the bus but still the bus driver could at least signal, check clear then filter out safely and not abruptly like that. But seriously this bend is a dangerous spot and I urge all bros to be careful when here as I have seen many such suka suka filterings since it was created.

SIX double-decker buses, worth about $3 million, went up in flames at the Ang Mo Kio bus depot Sunday morning. Bus drivers arriving for work at the depot along Ang Mo Kio Street 63 were confronted by the acrid smell of smoke, and the burnt-out shells of the smouldering half-dozen buses. 'There were so many policemen and firemen around. I was shocked to hear that six buses had been burned...this is the first time I have seen anything like this,' said one 44-year-old bus driver, who arrived around 5.30am. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is currently investigating the cause of the fire, though it is not known at this point if someone deliberately set fire to vehicles, estimated to be about $500,000 each. The SCDF added that the fire was contained within the six buses, as the rest of the fleet were parked farther away. A security guard on duty raised the alarm. No one was hurt. To ensure the morning services were not disrupted, buses were redeployed from other depots. The six buses all plied the No.25 route from Ang Mo Kio interchange to Bedok interchange. A spokesman for SBS Transit told The Straits Times that the loss of the buses will have 'some impact' on day-to-day operations, but that it would try to minimise inconvenience to its commuters by redeploying buses where possible. Read the full story in Monday's edition of The Straits Times.

Singapore - Residents of Ang Mo Kio estate reported being awaken by three to four thunderous 'explosions' in the early hours of Sunday morning. At 3.30 am, six double-decker buses at Ang Mo Kio Bus Depot caught fire. Residents from the nearby high-rise housing estate reported seeing large smoke fumes rising from the area as well as a 'smoky' smell coming from the area. The bus depot located at Ang Mo Kio Street 63, is within walking distance of Nanyang Polytechnic, Yio Chu Kang sports stadium, as well as Ang Mo Kio Fire Station. According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), it received a call alerting them of buses on fire at the SBS Transit Bus Depot at 3.33 am, and dispatched its resources within three minutes of being informed. Two fire engines, one Red Rhino and one supporting vehicle, with approximately 20 personnel resources, were sent. Fortunately, there was no casualties and the fire was brought under control within 30 minutes of the arrival of SCDF. Bus captains who started arriving for work at around 4.15 am were initially stopped from entering the scene. They were quickly cleared for entry as there were buses to be removed as precautionary measures. There could be up to 500 buses parked within the depot. The first bus left the premises around 4.40am. "Fire was confined to the six double decked buses in the open area. The cause of the fire is being investigated," says SCDF. SBS Transit to redeploy buses to minimise inconvenience to commuters In response to queries made by AsiaOne, Ms Tammy Tan, SBS Transit's senior vice-president, corporate communications, said: "We are assisting the police and SCDF who are investigating the cause of the fire. "We thank the SCDF for their quick response which helped confine the fire to six buses. "The loss of the buses will have some impact on our operations but we will try to minimise inconvenience to commuters by redeploying buses where we can."

Saw this $69 Black and Decker random orbiter on sale at NTUC hypermart. Brief glance of the specs shows 4400 opm, 3m cable, AC plug type. Is it a good buy, considering other orbiters cost above $100?

HI Guys and Gals.. Just bought the B and D KP600 RO polisher last week and finally got to use it over the weekend. Took me at least 6 hours and need a massage now, haha. I will try and briefly describe the steps i took. 1. Shampoo with Megs Gold class shampoo 2. Claybar 3. Turtlewax swirl remover and buff off with KP600 4. Megs NXT Tech Wax and buff off with KP600 5. Megs #20 Polymer Sealant. Applied with foam applicator and wipe off with microfibre towel. I like this product as it leaves a nice glossy look on the surface although i am told the #21 is better. You can view the product on this URL. Just copy and paste. http://www.meguiars.com/?pro-liquid-car-wa...Polymer-Sealant 6. Finished off with NXT Speed Detailer for that extra glossy look.Spray on and wipe off. I am not sure if i should be putting any products over the #20 but i always liked the shine and gloss from the NXT Speed detailer. Any bros here can advice if my steps were right or wrong considering the products that i have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are the photos i stored in webshots. Wish i had a better camera. http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?act...security=FCnAaj
