Hi. I am a newbie here. So I am unable to post new topic in this forum. I wonder if anyone can help to advise if I need to deactivate my airbag before replacing dashboard. I am looking to replace my cracked dashboard of my Toyota Altis 2008. Contemplating whether to do it myself or to get a workshop to do it. Replacing the dashboard is complicated but is not really a impossible job if I have the time. My only concern is activating the airbag while replacing. I am thinking to just disconnect my battery before doing so. But not sure if it is the right procedure. Also not sure if it is better to repair or change the dashboard. The cracked area is at the driver side. Will be happy if anyone is able to recommend a suitable workshop to repair or replace the dashboard. Thank you in advance!

As someone from low income background, I never pay attention to Mercedes cars throughout my growing up years. My first glimpse of a Mercedes car was when I went my classmate's house when I was primary 1 and saw this beautiful car with pointed star outside his house, and also saw washing machines and big television and a lot of loose change in his house. Strangely I did not feel bad about myself then, though I did feel bad about myself after a few years when I became aware of this social divide and recalled this incident haha.. Ok fast forward to now. Recent years I can't help but notice that Mercedes cars look alike internally especially the front part around the dashboard and the door knobs. It is about almost the same look, from the lowly A class to the mighty S class with the same design language. I know nowadays the design will propagate from S class to A class upwards then to all the other models progressively. I attach a few pictures to illustrate the point. There are slight differences with a few car models as they are undergoing slight facelift, and expected to be the same when they undergo full model change later. Has it always been like that? I have not seen other car makers adopting such a approach, so extensively. Frankly after seeing a few, I really have no appetite for another Mercedes if it looks the same despite external differences. Please share your comments if you have anything on this. Rest assured I am not talking bad about Mercedes cars. I admire this company a lot. Cheers

Hello guys I have two problems below! Hope someone can help me! 1)My signal indicator had a problem! Most of the time when I on the signal to either side, at first it will flash and giving clicking sound (NORMAL). After few seconds it will stop flashing and no clicking sound too (THE SIGNAL LIGHT IS STILL ON EXCEPT FLASHING). What's wrong with that? 2)I noticed that my dashboard meter light was getting dim when I switched on the headlight at night time. I had just changed new battery!

I notice whenever I park my 5 year old car under hot sun, the dashboard plastic will become very sticky, like a layer of candy coated onto dashboard. Anyone here having the same experience? How and where to fix the problem.

Previously, my anti-slip mat had melted on my dashboard which left bits and pieces of the mat on the surface, and cannot be removed by normal wiping. So after hearing some comments here that using lighter fluid might help, I tried with alcohol swabs which i thought might be a substitute for the lighter fluid. Yes, some of the mat stains were removed but it seems like a layer of my black dashboard surface was stripped as well. Now, I can see a big whitish and somehow sticky patch on the area where I had used alcohol to rub. I had used the Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care lotion but the whitish patch is still there. Are there any ways to get rid of the white patch and restore my dashboard back to to normal? Thanks in advance!

Hi gurus! I was thinking of sticking a car model and some figurine on my dashboard. But I understand that some methods will damage the dashboard or cause the dashboard to have 2 tones with the non-stick area. Any advise? TIA! :)

Just throwing this out here is case anyone might have a recommendation. I'm looking for someone that is willing to have a go at troubleshooting and repairing a motorcycle dashboard (lcd panel type). Suspected problem is a joint or solder crack due to vibration over time as the problem was first intermittent at higher vibration levels and then degraded. I have been told that the lcd panel is now totally blank (backlight is fine, warning lights are fine, just the lcd display kaput). So no harm letting someone have a go at it and see if anything can be done, i have already sourced a replacement from Italy but thought maybe i'd give this idea a shot. The unit is small (approx. 20cm x 12cm) and a self contained unit, only one CANBUS input in from the ECU if i'm not wrong. Can be easily removed and transported. From my understanding it is purely a display unit and does not contain any immobilizer. If anyone has suggestions for a shop or even an electronics hobbyist please let me know.

Hi bros, Will like to ask for help. I am driving a Honda Accord and some of my dashboard back light led had fail to light up. Suspect that the light bulb had blown. Hi bros, i need some help here. My car dashboard lights are not working properly, sometimes the dashboard lights will go off and come back at different intervals. Sometimes when driving at night, the dashboard light suddenly went off and it comes after a while, and sometimes when i turn on the switch, the dash light does not come on immediately, it only comes on after a while. When the dashboard lights goes off, the smaller bulb on the headlamp and the tail light will go off altogether. However, only the headlight works. Its a intermittent fault so it is very hard to rectify, so can someone please help me. Btw, my car is a 3 year old toyota axio.

Hi All, Long shot but I'm just gonna try anyway since I couldn't get much info. from Google. Anyone knows of a workshop that I could custom-made (or modify) my centre-dashboard to fit a 7" tablet sitting on it? In other words, instead of using tablet mount (with wires hanging around), I would like the tablet to sit firmly on top of the dashboard at the centre.......... something like the pics here ?!! Thanks y'all.

I had a steering sound problem. So I was at my usual workshop on Saturday (OPC), getting them to check if the steering wheel bushing or the shaft was required changing. About 30 mins after I left the car there, they called and said that the steering wheel bushing was ok, and the shaft had to be changed. I had no time to leave the car for 3 hours, so I told them next time. It was the day, so I didn't check the lights (didn't make sense to also). The dashboard lights were normal, so I drove and went to have fun. In the evening, it was dark, so I had to switch on the headlights. That was when I realised the dashboard lights were unlit. When I switched off the headlights, the dashboard lights came back. This affected the gear indicator (R was unaffected), aircon display, clock display. Turning signals ran fine, my headlights were on fine, tailights were ok. Only the dashboard backlights. So i went down to my workshop today and see if they could spot anything fast (like check back what they had did on Saturday). Much theorycrafting later (without actually checking back the procedure they had done on Saturday, they had removed the power steering, so could be the connection?), they asked me to leave the car at the workshop to check wiring. So I didn't (had to go to work), and I probably have to waste the coming Saturday for them to check. Being not a believer of coincidence, it's quite hard for me to survive in a place full of coincidences such as car workshops. So I thought to ask if anyone had the same experience before, so as to be better equipped. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
