ATHENS - Two RAF Red Arrows jets collided above the Greek island of Crete Tuesday during a training exercise, a Greek Defence Ministry official said.
One pilot was injured after ejecting from his Hawk jet while the other made an emergency landing in Crete and was unhurt.
"The pilot who ejected has broken his legs. He is being transferred to an Athens hospital," said the official.
He said the display team had been trying out new formations but had no further details.
With their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails, the Red Arrows are a familiar sight at British ceremonial occasions and international air displays. They are expected to appear at the London 2012 Olympics.
