Simon Cowell is about to become a father for the first time, and is expecting a baby with New York socialite Lauren Silverman - the wife of one of his close friends. Lauren, 36, is the wife of New York real estate mogul Andrew Silverman, but plans to leave her estranged husband. "Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while," a source told magazine Us Weekly. "As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close." The baby is about 10 weeks along, the source added. The 53-year-old Cowell's stance on fatherhood appears to have softened since 2009, when he famously said that he wasn't cut out for parenthood. "God, no. I couldn't have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts," he said then. "With kids, you've got a routine you can't escape from. You've got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking." However, the X Factor judge later on said in a 2012 interview that he'd changed his mind about having kids, but thought that "at 52, [he'd] probably missed the opportunity."
