  1. If I buy a converted 2nd hand OPC (Reg 2006), will I still get back any PARF rebate when I scrap the car after COE expires? For example, the car was initially a OPC and the owner had converted it to a normal car after 5 years, then decided to sell it. 1st to 5th year - OPC 6th year - Normal plate 7th year - Sell If I buy it on the 7th year and drive it until COE expires, how much PARF value will I get back, assuming OMV is 10K?
  2. Hi guys, curious, normal cars can get back parf rebate after the cars have been scraped at yr10. but if a red place car conver halfwat, how does the parf work? im curious.. sorry if i did not put it out in the correct term, do correct me. haha thanks!
  3. Hi all, i read through onemotoring.com on parf benefits and still feel confused on the Parf Rebates thingy i hope that Car gurus here could pass me some practical examples to illustrate the Parf benefits.. Thanks in advance PS: I quite a NOOB... so please forgive my NOOBENESS and don't slam me thanks Example 1) http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...444&DL=1009 4 year 4 month old PARF car (52mths old car) black plate COE $11,901 OMV $16,546 If i convert to red plate from black plate, i will get the following a) yearly payout of 2200SGD till the end of COE b) A flat discount of $500 on annual road tax, subject to a minimum road tax payment of $70 per year c)The additional PARF rebate is calculated based on $2,200 per year for the period that the car remained as a converted OPC under the OPC scheme (in months and days). = 52/12 x 2200 = 9533 SGD c) if i scrap my car when the car is 9 years old, i will stand to gain 50% of ARF paid, ie New ARF = 16,546 + 9533 = 26,079 0.5 x 26,079 = 13,039 Am i right?
  4. then He even managed to fix up the licence plate somemore.... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._motorbike.html Posted on 04 Jun 2012 Car broke down? No problem: This guy turns it into functioning motorbike When Emile Leray drove across the Sahara desert in his Citroen 2CV, it broke down halfway. Not wanting to be left stranded, he turned it into a motorcycle. Wrote STOMPer Fannypack: "This Frenchman is very ingenious! However, as they say, in times of need we really learn how to improvise. "This happened in 1993 and halfway across the Sahara desert his car broke down. "He had left the city of Tan Tan in Morocco and sort of flees the military there. The bumpy terrain and a rock makes his car break down. "The good news was, he had a toolbox and a hacksaw. "So he turned the car into a functioning motorcycle, and used the car body to shield himself from the harsh desert sandstorms and the elements. "The Citroen's swing arm and wheel axle were broken, so he salvaged the parts to make the motorbike. "Luckily he also had food and water to last him 10 days as the project took him 12 days and he only had half a litre of water left. "He also had to drive it in reverse and he had no drills, no blowtorches or welding equipment. "He screwed the parts together and bent pieces of metal 90 degrees, weakened the thinner areas using a hacksaw or a round file and punctured them with the hammer and punch to make the holes. "And by the way, it's called the Desert Camel. Emile made it out alive of course." Check out photos of Emile and his Dessert Camel in pics 1 to 8, while pics 9 onwards show how some Japanese guys turned an old Acura into a Ferrari.
  5. Hi all, getting another car as current car going to the metal grave in a few days time, was thinking of getting a 2007 OPC car and asking the dealer to convert to normal plate for me. Like to kindly check if I will still get back any money upon de-registration from Ah Gong??? Sorry for noob qns as current car is COE car, thus not too sure
  6. As above... Is it even possible? What will be the rebates for COE car to be converted to OPC? According to onemotoring: Normal to Revised OPC Scheme Regular cash rebate payout of up to $1,100 for every 6 months as an OPC, up to the car reaching 10 years of age, if car stays at least 6 months in the revised OPC scheme after conversion.
  7. on the day you guys drove down to LTA to do the conversion and was successfully converted, do you guys buy the e-day license for that day itself? called LTA and ask, and got 2 different answers, one woman said yes need to buy, one guy says confirm no need to buy. anyone got experiences before to share?
  8. Hi all members of MCF LTA had converted Oldham Road (beside The Atrium@Orchard) into a One-way street with effect from 06 March 2007 @ 10.00am. Vehicles from Orchard Road are not allowed to turn left to Oldham Road to proceed to Handly Road and to Plaza Singapura car park. (as reported at LTA Website) Instead, vehicle coming out from PS car park could turn right into Oldham Road and then to Orchard Road. With this changes, one have to proceed to Handly Road x Orchard Road (in from Cathay Theatre) to go to PS. Cheers.
