  1. I encountered an incident where I came across this driver in distress at petrol station. His rear tyre punctured, he tried to change tyre himself but he's unable to take out the tyre for some unknown reasons. I tried to help him by trying to call for tow truck to tow car to a tyre workshop This incident happened in pasir panjang road. I also dun know the nearest tyre shop the, except alexandra village. But this incident is at 6.30pm. But I realised I got no tow truck contact! Anyone know any tow truck contact? I realized if i'm the one desperate for help, I will be stuck like that driver.
  2. Hi. Wonder if any bros on this tyres yet. Any feedback?
  3. hi everyone. i want to know more about making/wearing contact lenses. i have glasses for the past few years and only wear them sometimes. during the past few years, i think my eyesight degree has increased, so i cant see really well anymore even with my glasses. i'm thinking of making contact lenses, but have no idea where to start off with. i understand there's the daily/weekly/monthly diposable lenses and want to know more about the cost too. i would want to make contact lenses from a reputable and reliable optometrist or whatever u call it, and do u guys have any recommendations or advice? so far i've only gone to nanyang optical to ask about it, and was told that the daily disposable ones would cost about more than $50/month. thanks in advance.
  4. will be heading to Port Dickson for a short getaway on NDP week. Any bros/sis out there have contacts to charter a private bus to bring us there and back? There are 13 of us. Tks
  5. Amoebas devour girl's cornea after contact lenses stay in for 6 months File photo depicting a case of Acanthamoeba Keratitis. Acanthamoeba keratitis, first recognized in 1973, is a rare, vision threatening, parasitic infection seen most often in contact lens wearers. Thursday, Jul 03, 2014The China Post/Asia News Network By Lin-Yi Shen TAIPEI, Taiwan - A college girl was found to have had both the corneas of her eyes devoured by amoeba after wearing disposable contact lenses for over half a year without taking them out. The girl bought a pair of disposable contact lenses that were supposed to be used for one month and wore them for more than six months, even while she was sleeping. After feeling acute pain in her eyes, she went to hospital and was diagnosed with acanthamoeba keratitis, which is caused by a protozoon called an amoeba. The infection was brought on by dirty water that she used to clean her face, doctors said. Acanthamoeba keratitis, commonly referred to as amoeba keratitis, usually afflicts contact lens wearers or people whose eyes come into contact with dirty water. Director of ophthalmology at Wan Fang Hospital Wu Jian-liang indicated that contact lens wearers are a high-risk group that can easily be exposed to eye diseases. A shortage of oxygen can destroy the surface of the epithelial tissue, creating wounds in the eyes and cultivating an environment suitable for amoebas to survive. Wu said that the college girl did not follow the correct procedure in maintaining the hygiene of her contact lenses and her overuse of the lenses gradually damaged her corneas. After half a year of wearing them, her corneas were devoured by amoeba and shrank to half their normal size. Unfortunately, polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) or chlorhexidine, which are considered to be effective medicines in eliminating such amoebas, haven't yet been introduced to Taiwan, said Wu. Director of ophthalmology at Tri-Service General Hospital Lu Da-wen warned that no matter whether they are soft or hard, contact lenses should not directly come into contact with water, as this will increase their chances of becoming infected by other viruses and protozoon. Lu also stated that cases of acanthamoeba keratitis usually increase markedly during summer, and people should therefore pay more attention to proper hygiene at this time. - See more at: http://yourhealth.asiaone.com/content/amoebas-devour-girls-cornea-after-contact-lenses-stay-6-months#sthash.90qOvv55.dpuf

  7. Dear all. All new Continental Sport contact 6 launched. But think targeted at 19 to 22 inch. Maybe just launch. Wonder when will arrive in our shore. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Continental-Sport-Contact-6-First-Drive.htm The Continental Sport Contact 6 is here, and it's fantastic! Launched 1st September, the new Sport Contact 6 replaces the Sport Contact 5P as Continentals maximum performance summer tyre for sports cars. Initially available in 19 to 23 inches, the Sport Contact 6 pushes the tyre towards the segment the Michelin Pilot SuperSport currently occupies, and while it's not quite as track orientated, it should give the Michelin a little competition for those who enjoy fast road driving. Already ProvenWhile the Sport Contact 6 is new to market, it's already a proven tyre. The Sport Contact 6 is the OE tyre for the new Honda Civic Type R, which recently destroyed the Nurburgring FWD record, setting a 7:50.63, only 10 seconds slower than a Porsche Cayman GT4! To further prove the capabilities of the new tyre, Continental invited TyreReviews to Bilster Berg Race Resort in Germany to learn about, and test the Sport Contact 6. DevelopmentOur biggest criticism of the outgoing tyre has always been steering feel. The Sport Contact 5 and 5P were never short of wet grip, wet or dry braking performance, or even good levels of comfort, but for a sports tyre they felt sluggish, soft and frankly, unsporty. The engineers at Continental have worked hard to address this. They've designed the tread pattern with "force vectoring", which helps transfer the forces more evenly through the tyre to give a stable cornering force, and added a new "Aralon 350" belt to the carcass, to give the tyre structure higher stability at speed. We'll cover both these technologies in detail over the next few days, but the simple version is they give the tyre a 14% better steering precision over the Sport Contact 5P and 11% better dry handling. When combined with 7% better wear (another weakness of the outgoing tyre), 7% less noise and 10% higher high speed stability, the result is a very capable tyre. Our TestingSadly at the launch Continental didn't provide the previous tyre to directly compare against, but what they did offer us was the ability to run on the tyre in both the dry and wet, on various vehicles. In the dry, on a VW Golf R, the tyre was impressive. Bilster Berg might have a new surface with a high coefficient of grip, but the tyre was still monstered the lap, giving plenty of lovely feedback right to the limit, and a nice progressive slide past the limit. The same was true of the tyre on the Porsche Cayman GTS, Mercedes A45 and Audi RS3 in the wet, with the Sport Contact 6 harnessing the all wheel drive nature of the Audi and Mercedes to provide quite astonishing traction, and when using the RWD Porsche in torrential rain, still providing incredible grip, communication and balance. ConclusionContinental simply don't make bad tyres, and while the Sport Contact 5 and 5P never really excited us, they were nearly always best in class when tested. Now with the Sport Contact 6, Continental have produced an exciting, world class sport tyre. Tyre tests in 2016 are going to be extremely interesting! If you're interested in the technical details we'll be publishing a technical report on the Sport Contact 6 over the next few days, otherwise be sure to leave a review if you buy yourself a set. 8. I am still hanging on to my 6 yr old Daewoo Lanos due to $$ consideration. Had a radiator leak recently at the outlet of the radiator plastic cover (connection to water outlet hose cracked). Was told I only need to replace the plastic cover due to prolonged heat exposure while the radiator can still be savaged. Problem is parts are hard to find especially for Daewoo. I am seeking help from fellow motorists who may know of any radiator repair contacts. I have driven to 3 such shops and they all could not help. Even the agent has no stock and I need to wait at least a month. Can anyone offer any assitance? Thanks.

  10. My wired doorbell stopped working, swapped batteries but couldn't work as well. Noticed some blue residue covering the battery holder terminal contacts. Cleared as much of it possible off with a toothpick but the doorbell still doesn't work. Any recommendation for household solvents/cleaners to clean these contacts? If not have to give up on the doorbell.

They have been taking so long (3 mths) to follow up on my query relating to my HSBC Revo Sign-up rebate. Told me they will call me back, but never do. One CSO told me one thing, another told me another. I am not sure if droppinng a feedback on the HSBC site will be useful or not, hence i thought going through senior mgt team will find a faster resolution. 22. recently check tyrepac for new tyres saw they have the new CPC5 on sale. The reviews on them are quite good and they are no1 on a few charts, granted the competitor are quite lousy tyres, the only competition was T001 and P7 (but got one test 4th vs PS3 5th) anyone using them...my altis 195/65/R15 got not much choice (considering 16 rim, but gave it up...no point)...looking at 1) Advan DB 2) XM2 (tried it on previous Altis...good then but overrated now) 3) CPC5 4) ZE 914 (not much feedback) 5) T001 (successor to ER300, my current tyre..good but VERY VERY noisy now) looks like CPC5 is a good choice (cheap too) so wondering if they are really worth it. Was leaning to Advan DB. Anyone try then already?
  23. I am driving a Toyota Vios. With current profile of 195/55/15, I enjoy a more comfy ride, many times, I don't realize I was already traveling at 110 km/h, and mind you, I mentioned I am driving a Vios :p But I suffered with poorer pickup as compared to my previous 195/50/15, which gives me a very bumpy and road sensitive ride. I am now toying with the idea of 185/55/15. Hope it's a right balance and correct choice. As my topic, I am trying to judge if the above mentioned tyre can suit my driving. When I was still a cool driver, Goodyear NCT5 175/65/14 - normal a-b tyre Sumitomo HTR200 185/65/14 - normal a-b tyre When my patience runs out due to road idiots Bridgestone Turanza RE080 185/60/15- crap!!! Toyo DRB 195/50/15 - good in dry, wet i no balls. sensitive to road surface, loud Hankook VENTUS ME01 195/55/15 - dry acceptable, wet is purely crap and i meant it. more on the comfort side. Was reading on Michelin PS3 but I thought it would be a bit overkill for me. Continental Premium Contact 2 vs Bridgestone Turanza ER300 I like the thread pattern and I believe they are better than normal tyre.
  24. hello bros and sis I need to buy some small pieces of wooden plank... any carpentry workshop to recommend where they can cut on spot? Thanks.
  25. CNA Counterfeit coloured contact lenses being sold in local optical shops By Sharon See | Posted: 20 July 2011 1316 hrs SINGAPORE: The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said it found counterfeit coloured contact lenses being sold in local optical shops in June. The counterfeits are imitations of "FreshLook ColorBlends" by CIBA Vision and have been found to be "unsafe and of poor quality". This is the first known case of counterfeit health products found in legitimate suppliers. HSA said it has seized more than 100 boxes from at least five optical shops islandwide. The counterfeits look almost authentic, apart from typographical errors on the packaging. It is difficult to differentiate between the authentic and counterfeit lenses with the naked eye. HSA said lab tests found colour pigments deposited on the interior surface of the lens - rather than the exterior - which causes the pigments to be in direct contact with the eye. It also found Pseudomonas aeruginosa - a harmful bacteria that causes serious eye infection - in the storage liquid of the lenses. So far, HSA has only received feedback from one consumer about adverse effects, like eye irritation, caused by the counterfeit lenses. HSA said it was notified of the counterfeits by CIBA Vision in mid-June. The company had received stocks of "FreshLook ColorBlends" contact lenses for exchange from several optical shops. Upon investigation, CIBA Vision confirmed the products were counterfeits as they were not manufactured by them. HSA said previous cases of counterfeit health products were largely confined to the black market or internet, and they mostly involved imitations of "lifestyle" drugs like erectile dysfunction medicines such as Viagra and Cialis. HSA said the case is still under investigation, and so far, some 10 people have been questioned. Anyone found guilty of supplying counterfeit medical devices faces a fine of $100,000 or three years' jail. - CNA/fa
