So I am considering to buy a Excursion Bus as my personal ride. What can you tell me 1) Insurance - need public liability also right? 2) Parking fees for HDB? 3) Can be driven to Malaysia I know - but what is the process for this? 4) If get caught speeding, what is the fine like, and points? Cus will be vocational license right? 5) Once reach end of COE can renew or not? What is process like to buy new COE - considering 7 or 8 year old van, to keep purchase costs way low, then just inspect well and fingers crossed. Am considering the Vito, also quite liked the fiat when I test drove - best thing about fiat was that seats could be lifted out to make cargo van (and could take out row by row, so could have 12, 9, 6 or 3 seater depending on needs).

Hi, My car still have 3 years & 5 months to go, & I'm considering selling it off since now I have a company van to drive. My ride is a 2006 latio & I have checked LTA website on the amount of rebate if I de-registration now. The amount is around 14K. I received a few offers from car dealers, their offers price range between 25K to 29K. Would like to seek advice whether should I sell it off if let say I can get a better quote at $30k, or should I keep it for my family use during the weekend?

The car's styling will be toned down, but it will reportedly have a prominent grille, a sloping roofline and a low-slung stance. The concept featured a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 with 395 PS (290 kW / 390 hp) and 534 Nm (394 lb-ft) of torque, but the production model should offer a variety of four-cylinder engines. There could also be a hybrid variant that borrows the powertrain from the Optima hybrid. The ambitious new model is slated for 2016, so expect to learn more in the coming years.

Hi all, Just thought of asking brothers here to give some comments/pointers. I'm planning to change my existing ride. A few cars are in my shortlist: 1. Toyota Camry 2.4A 2. Nissan Cefiro 2.3A 3. Mit Lancer EX 2.0M GT 4. Chevy Epica 2.5A 5. Honda Civic 2.0M SI (maybe the Type R) 6. Honda Accord Euro-R A I could consider other cars in the 80 - 110K range. Few things I'm looking for: 1. Comfort - I travel alot to Malaysia (Ipoh/Penang). I would like the car to be roomy with excellent rear passenger legspace. As I'm pretty big size, I would like the driver seat to be comfortable. High speed cruising should be quiet and comfortable. So far, the Camry seems to have the edge on this one with the Cefiro coming close. The Cefiro has a very very comfortable front passenger seat - good for me to snooze when my co-pilot takes over *grinz*. 2. Performance - I do engage in spirited driving in Sg and Malaysia. Even in my current ride, my average speed on NSH is 180kmh.Hence the ride must have good pickup and top speed. I enjoy manual rides more as it gives me much more cornering control and pickup. The Hondas (especially the SI) seem to have the edge on this one. The Lancer EX manual also packs a pretty good punch. The Camry and Cefiro feels sedate though. 3. Engine - I'm not too sure on this one. Cefiro has the V6. Epica has the 6 in-line. The rest have 4 in-line. How different are they from each other? What are the advantages of V6 and 6 in-line? 4. Fuel Efficiency - I know the Cefiro is a guzzler. The Camry and Civic seems to have better efficiency. 5. Budget - As mentioned earlier, I hope to keep my expense down to 80 - 110K range. Road tax and insurance are also amongst my considerations. The car should also be reliable so that I don't have to make trips to the workshop. 6. Mods - Seems very ironic to talk about this since I'm looking at primarily Ah-Pek cars. However I do poison my ride. I know the Hondas have good chance for mods. In conclusion, I've test driven all the above cars except Euro-R. For each car, something seems to be missing. Hope that fellow brothers comments could help me make up my mind. Cheers. -

Hi, Was always bias of korean cars due to it poor fuel consumption but after hearing some forumers did some logical calculation on the fuel cost against owning a japanese car....it make me re-look again at korea car. Am looking at Trajet and Tuscon, the previous look more worthwith as it allow me to have extra space when needed...whereas Tuscon look more rugged and nice....Can someone further comments on Trajet ? Do u think the price might go down further ? Many thanks

Hi All, Can I know what your opinions are concerning the Honda Jazz, Fit or Toyota IST. I am considering getting one of them but can't decide which. Other than what was posted in "Jazz vs Fit", is there other things to consider? Can anyone provide me some pointers to consider? I am wondering if the Fit & the IST will have problems with spare parts. Also, there was a post that said that the Fit's rear window is heavily tinted. Does it mean that it won't pass inspection? Overall the IST looks so nice...... Thanks all

Hi everyone, Am thinking of buying Opel Meriva, which is gog to be my first new car purchase. Need some comments from owners abt the reliability of this car. Got an irresistable offer for the car at $76K+ with leather seats thrown in, but not sure if it's gonna cost a bomb to maintain the car... How's the gearbox like? Is easytronic reliable? Dropped Renault Megane after reading abt the horror stories abt M2 stalling for no good reasons. Some flywheel sensor issue. Are spare parts expensive? My friend used to drive an old Opel Corsa, but it cost a lot of $$$ to keep it going... Appreciate if you could help. Thanks! Hansia

Before I shortlisted Focus &Optra, Optra. I have test droven Magane, Focus, Optra, Aveo, Sunny, Lancer, Mazda3, Sonata, Altis In my opinion, worst of the lot is Lancer. Sunny lack of power. My wife & I like Magane the most, but too costly. I like the look & feel of Sonata, with the price of $76K (Gold edition), it is a very good buy for 2L car. But my wife aginst it. Otherwise, I would have booked it. Altis is value for money as well, and BM is offering 2% interest rate for 7-10 years. Very attractive. But, too common and my wife doesn't like it. , most importantly, we felt that Optra & Focus are better than Altis, in term of handling & comfort. Finally, we shortlisted Focus & Optra. We test drive few times again, particularly the Optra, and took a very close look at both cars again & again. After few rounds of analysis we finally chose OPTRA. External look: We like Focus. (Optra not too bad as well) Interial look: I like Optra, and my wife like Focus Handling: Comparable. I felt that Focus is better. Cabin quiteness: Optra wins Brake: Focus is more responsive, but the squzzing noice of the braking just too high. Warranty: Focus 5 years Price: Optra is cheaper by $9+K (taking into consideration of OMV & Cash back), insurance premium is cheaper on Optra as well, and the cash need is lower. Resale value: Focus is well known Design: Focus design is due soon, and Optra is new. We choose Optra mainly because of Optra meets our basic expectation - "Conti feel" and cheaper. If RM offers cash back, and have a more aggresive SE, we would have chosen Focus already. Actually, on Wednesday, We have decided on Focus, but SE of SA called me again & urge me the test the car again, and gave us the the assurance on the build quality of Optra. We tested Optra again & again on Friday, and decided on it. Hopefully, we have made a right choice.

Hi folks, I am a first time owner and therefore looking for a budget car. There are not many and Kia Spectra happens to be one of the few to fall into my category. What do you think of this car? I know there are a few threads on Kia Spectra that I have went through but still would like some comments if you do not find it too troublesome. 1. I know that Kia cars' fuel consumption are pretty high compared to other vehicles in the same class of 1.6L cars. How true or wrong am I? I read in the other threads, there is one who quote 8/9L per km, another quoted 10/11L per km. I asked a friend who drives a 1.5L Honda Civic, she's an insurance agent who drives around alot and her monthly petrol consumption accumulates to about $400. How can we do a comparison with these two cars? 2. Kia cars' repairwork easily done in Singapore? 3. Should the fuel consumption be a little higher, what parts can be used to regulate the fuel consumption with minimum effect on the overall output? I also read about the air filter which may cut down on fuel consumption. How does this works? I was told there are equipments like fuel injection regulators, how do all these works then? How significant does it cut down on petrol consumption without affecting too much power or increasing the power of the car? 4. Kia cars' engine are generally noiser? 5. For a first time owner, is this a suitable car for a new driver? I know cars like Toyota Soluna or Honda Civic comes with very basic specs which makes things very easy for new drivers. I know there are hidden costs involved as I have read and advices from friends over past one year and not forgetting my driving instructor. So spare me on the costs issue ... Regards, Ed

Highly recommended for repeated continuous high speed drive (like up and down the NS highway) and even for normal daily drives, it'll prove to maximize fuel efficiency.
