Do you belong to one of the AIG survey statistics ? Drivers here are often frustrated on the roads as they have to deal with "escalating unsafe and inconsiderate behaviour", according to a study released by AIG Singapore on Wednesday (Jan 20). In an online survey of 800 respondents, 77% said they were annoyed about driving conditions in Singapore, while 53% reported feeling stressed. The top three causes of irritation for Singaporean drivers were (according to AIG survey) 1) reckless driving (60%), 2) drivers changing lanes without signalling (54%), and 3) drivers not allowing others to change lanes (50%) http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/singapore-drivers/2440654.html

This deserves a new thread and awareness of this kind lady. Also how mean people can be and the person who asked for the poor fellow to be sacked. Karma is a bitch Ms Sharon Guan, 54, (right) defended one of her staff - dishwasher Mr Jimmy Wee, 53 - from an intolerant customer who complained about his skin condition. TNP PHOTO: PHYLLICIA WANG SHE'S THE RESTAURANT BOSS WHO STOOD BY DISHWASHER WITH SKIN CONDITION WOMAN BOSS WHO DEFENDS EMPLOYEE WITH SKIN CONDITION SAYS COMPANIES SHOULD BE KIND TO THE NEEDY Nov 25, 2015 6:00amBY NG JUN SEN It was hardly a well-kept secret. When The New Paper on Sunday wrote about an intolerant customer, who wanted a dishwasher suffering from a genetic skin condition fired over "health reasons", the report went viral online. His employer stood by his side, saying she would rather lose the customer than lose 53-year-old Jimmy Wee. Back then, Ms Sharon Guan Xue-er declined to be named because she did not want to be seen as trying to gain publicity for Mr Wee's plight. Mr Wee suffers from neurofibromatosis, which causes thousands of tumours to grow on his face and body. It is not infectious. The report, which was published on Nov 15, sparked a hunt by netizens to identify the restaurant as they wanted to "give business" to an ethical company. And they did. Details of her restaurant, the Whampoa Keng Fish Head Steamboat's Rangoon Road outlet, were posted on Facebook. The restaurant's main branch is in Balestier Road. Ms Guan, who runs the restaurants with a partner, said she was initially uncomfortable with the notion but was eventually persuaded by customers and the media to come forward. The 54-year-old said in Mandarin: "I prefer not be identified, but it makes no difference now that we are named. "I hope that by coming forward, we can convince others to be kind towards the unfortunate and the needy, and for companies not to discriminate in their hiring." Ms Guan is in charge of all front-end operations at the restaurant, entertaining guests and taking orders. Ms Guan hired Lok Wei Qiang (right) as a chef, after he was turned down by nine other employers. The Singaporean is no stranger to hiring staff whom other businesses may reject. (See report below.) As a getai singer, she frequently participates in events organised by Tanjong Pagar Community Centre to entertain residents at old folks' homes for free. Early this year, Mr Wee approached Ms Guan after a friend recommended him to the job. He was hired when a medical check-up showed that his condition will not affect customers. His job was to clean dishes at the back of the restaurant, avoiding contact with customers. That was his request, said Ms Guan. But in March, a female customer called to complain after she saw Mr Wee cleaning dishes at the back of the restaurant. TNP found out about this when Ms Guan shared the story with us over dinner - her usual way of chatting with customers. When this reporter asked to write about Mr Wee three weeks ago, she immediately asked to leave her identity and her restaurant out of the report. PERSONAL Ms Guan had said then: "I don't want others to think that I am trying to benefit from Jimmy's ill fate. It is his personal story to tell." The report went viral overnight, with netizens sharing it more than a thousand times on social media. Even publications in Malaysia and Taiwan picked up the story of Mr Wee, who has been living with the condition since he was diagnosed at the age of seven. Several readers wrote to TNP to ask about the restaurant's identity but were turned down as per Ms Guan's wishes. But that did not stop netizens from finding out and revealing the information online. Since then, the restaurant has seen a small boost in business, though that could be attributed to other factors too, said Ms Guan. She added: "It would be sad if people dismiss this as a publicity gimmick. Extra business is always good but that is not what I am after. "I just want to use this opportunity to inform people that the unfortunate and the needy should not be cast aside or feared." Mr Wee is overwhelmed by the amount of support he has received since TNP broke the story. He said that the day after the report came out, some customers visited him at the back of the restaurant to offer words of support and encouragement. He was also recognised in the train and on the streets. Strangers smiled, greeted him and thanked him for sharing his story. Mr Wee said: "This is the first time something like that has happened to me. I am very happy that more people understand my condition better." About that intolerant customer who had wanted him fired, Mr Wee had only one thing to say: "If she could be so mean to someone like me then I hope, for her sake, that she doesn't get sick." I hope that by coming forward, we can convince others to be kind towards the unfortunate and the needy, and for companies not to discriminate in their hiring. - Ms Sharon Guan Xue-er

Bought a 2nd hand car planning for short term usage. Asked my regular workshop to open up to check the condition of Timing belt. He did it and say Timing belt looks ok as the numbering printing is still intact and clearly shown and edge of timing belt show no sign of wear and tear. Was worrying as i will be driving to genting with family next month. Technician also ask me crank slowly and all look fine. Does that sounded good enough to last for trips to genting and run for another 1 year? Thanks for your value view.

Bro, Is it necessary to condition your battery for better performance? Read in a forum that once a month, allow the battery to drain below 20%, charge it up fully to 100% and leave it for 2 hours. But then read in another forum that discharging a Li-ion battery is harmful for the battery.

Hi Bros/sis, To be honest, being a new driver means I am still familiarizing myself with Singapore roads. Rainy weathers poses quite a big problem when lane markings begin to disappear either under water or in its worn out condition. Reporting to authorities about the worn out markings can be quite an issue for new drivers like myself who have problems identifying the stretch of road or pin pointing the junction/location. So this will require bros and sis who have more experience to aid in listing out these zones. I do not know if this thread will be useful or even actively used, but I thought might as well just make an attempt to do it and see how it goes since our bros/sis have always been there to answer all my queries. If post(s) starts coming in, I'll contact the authorities again to note the contribution by our community. Thread Rules: (Please COPY the existing latest list, add on your own items below it, afterwhich, post it as an updated FULL list) Thank you

Yo bro! Any recommendation for the above? Preferably a compact camera and not those SLR type. Couple of colleagues had encountered shutters which got stuck due to very cold weather and ended up with few pictures of their holidays abroad. They had wrapped up their cams in some thick clothings as recommended but still cannot tahan the cold and the shutter mechanism froze up. Thanks dude!

Hi, have been using my GR80 for 50K now. Rotated front to rear every 10K. Wear rate is even between inner and outer of the tire. But the previous front tire which was rotated to the rear looks bald on the surface. But there's 0.6cm thread more before hitting the threadwear indicator in the inner tire as well as the sidewall triangle threadwear marker. Tires grip well in wet and dry. Just a little noiser than before. Its 1yr 8month old now. Should I change based on the thread wear marker or just by eyeballing the surface? Thanks!

Hi All, Was looking around at properly guru website and happen saw this HDB EA unit at Choa Chu Kang District .(think not good to post the link) . Valuation at 420K + owner wan 20k cash . Move in condition. Unit near school, sheng song, a stone throw to LRT, 10 mins walks to Bukit Panjang Plaza. Actually quite near to junction between Old Woodlands Rd and upper Bukit Timah Rd . Upon viewing the unit with my friend (he is also a renovation contractor) , my friend comments that the Timber Laminiation at dinner area and all the way to bedrooms is going to give way might due to mopping the floor too wet causing to pook, can see edges coming up. His recommendation best is to remove and redo with new timber or lay marble again cost 10K+. Unit has too many down lite , need to remove, too many timber finishing on the wall , need to remove. I express interest on this unit to the agent but need to lower down the cash top up maybe 5k to 10k cos of renovation and due to other issue(econ criss) . But some how agent take his own swee time to neg with the other agent( Co-broke) . And the top up cash is slowly reduce . Lastest rec sms from him is 15K cash top up. I believe he dun wish lower too much due to commission. Anyway , i hope experiences bros can give me some comments ..... Thanks Chogokin

Hi all, Would just like to check if you would be interested to view real time (video) traffic conditions on your mobile phone. Example causeway traffic, certain parts of the expressway, major roads. If this can be done with your phone and does not incur GPRS charges, would you be interested? Also you might want to add your road or intersection name, this might be a reality in the near future and trials will be available.

I was coming back from Malaysia yesterday on NSH and was followed closely by a Proton Waja so I gave way for it to pass on the right lane. Then it started raining heavily that I could hardly see what was ahead so had to slow down. Then I saw the same Proton Waja first crash its front at the centre barrier, spins a few rounds and while spinning got the car back bumper smashed too. Then suddenly he seemed to gain control and drove to the shoulder of the highway. By then there was debris of car parts all over. Does anyone knows what is the best way to gain control back in such situation when the car start spinning under wet road condition?
