Was talking to my fren who work in gov IT . they anticipating 5th nov to be a busy week. He say gov wide should be preparing for it like last year. so far no news from papers yet, the anon group also still quiet never release video. My coy IT dept like bochup and I already forgot about it until my fren say. LOL. Wonder gov will say anything and haolian they ready or not. Frankly I rather they just STFU, else wait kena hack again malu.

I have a Dell CPU installed with window 7. It has been with me for about 7 years. As window 7 cannot be used anymore, is it worthwhile to install window 10. Not sure how long more would the hard disk and the rest of the parts will last.

when you turn off your computer, do you switch off the mains as well ? mains being the main switch at the wall power point. I have been doing this after my pc shuts down and light-out but it seems to be causing problems to my pc. sometimes my pc will boot up and then report that something is wrong .... like cannot login in, or some memory related issues. any else ? hoping to save some elect ...

The zipper on my Samsonite laptop bag became loose, where the spiral of strings detached. That happens on both side pack and main compartment, after 15 months of usage. How do I get it repaired? The exterior looks quite new and solid, on the contrary other brands I used tend to break a hold in the corner and tear apart at the hinges. If I must replace, which brand shall I use? 15 months is less considering the price is 3 times of my previous laptop bags. On average other brands I use lasted 1 year or so.

Very recently my computer seems to be opening enormous numbers of instances of helpctr.exe by itself when I am surfing the net. The system comes to a halt and pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete just shows me many instances of helpctr.exe Any solutions? Computer is Acer Aspire one netbook. Many thanks.

has anyone tried attaching a class AB amplifier to non amplified speakers? the flow diagram is as follows, computer line out> amplifier> unpowered speakers. wonder what is the difference like? my understanding is that the difference here with the conventional arrangement of using speaker out is where amplification is done. either in the subwoofer amplifier circuitry or the amplifier. thanks

My 7 year old desktop finally died and now gives me error messages when I try to boot it. I don't think I should just throw it down the rubbish chute. Does anyone know how to dispose of a desktop? Can it be given away (after formatting the HDD)? Any ideas?

Hi as the above..my nephew comp. can only boot up in Safe mode and not normal boot up. He does not have a recovery disc or anything like wise. And when I try to system restore, this is the prompt window below. Hope someone can assist...Thanks System Restore has been turned off by your system administrator. Policeman guilty of data misuse By Alvina Soh | Posted: 30 June 2011 1933 hrs SINGAPORE: A police station inspector, who received numerous awards for good conduct and long service, admitted Thursday to three counts of illegally accessing a police computer system to trace his Indonesian maid's whereabouts. Thirty-four-year-old Sheik Faisal Shaik Abdul Kader Ali, who is still with the Singapore Police Force, admitted to misusing official data after his maid had gone missing. Investigations revealed that on November 22, 2009, Sheik discovered his maid had not returned home since early morning. Sheik, who was the duty investigation officer at Bedok Police Division that day, accessed an online police computer system to trace the missing maid at about 11.30am. He executed several searches in the system and retrieved police reports without authority. Eventually, he came across a police report lodged by his maid claiming he had molested her. However, investigation revealed she had made a false police report after an extra marital affair between them turned sour. The court heard that Sheik, a father of two, had used the police system for non-official purposes and did not want to inconvenience himself and his colleagues by lodging a police report for his missing maid. He will be sentenced July 8. For accessing data without authority from a computer system of the Ministry of Home Affairs for non-official purposes, he can be jailed up to two years, fined up to S$5,000, or both. Sheik's maid was given a stern warning for making the false report. -CNA/wk
