  1. http://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/motoring/should-i-buy-a-new-car-now Everyone's favourite motoring journalist is back with another article. Looks like his COE is ending in 3 weeks, he may be fighting with you guys for a COE on 23 December! Don't know why he complaining about COE prices when he is thinking of buying an Audi Q7 which is going for $300k. And then he debates between a brand new Wish for 10k/year depreciation, or renewing COE for 8k/year depreciation. That's "merely" 20k over 10 years, might as well get a new Wish.
  2. Sir Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93 after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure. The veteran actor, best known for a variety of films from Dracula to The Wicker Man through to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, passed away on Sunday morning at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, according to sources. The decision to release the news days after was based on his wife’s desire to inform family members first. The couple had been married for over 50 years. As well as his career in film, Lee also released a series of heavy metal albums, including Charlemagne: The Omens of Death. He was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded the Bafta fellowship in 2011. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/jun/11/christopher-lee-dies-at-the-age-of-93-dracula
  3. http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-letters/story/barrier-preventing-prs-taking-citizenship-20140516 Barrier preventing PRs from taking up citizenship PUBLISHED ON MAY 16, 2014 MR CHRISTOPHER Chong ("How to help foreigners integrate"; Tuesday) suggested that permanent residency should have a fixed term and then be re-assessed, with one of the criteria being the permanent resident's intention to become a citizen. As a permanent resident here, I would look forward to becoming a Singapore citizen if not for one issue - the requirement that I give up citizenship of my home country. I know of many other permanent residents who share my view. Not allowing dual nationality is an old-fashioned position, one that has changed in many proud countries over the last decade or so. Forcing me to give up my ties to my home country, and having to apply for a visa to visit my family and friends there, is a show-stopper. Singapore should consider changing this policy. Allowing me to retain the citizenship of my home country would in no way diminish the respect I would have for my additional citizenship in Singapore. I have lived here for nine years and do consider Singapore home. So the authorities should remove the one barrier that is preventing me, and many others, from taking the final step to truly calling Singapore home. Makes my blood boil when reading such statements from this FOREIGN TRASH!!! Pui!!!!
  4. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/columbus_day Beware of Greeks bearing gifts An allusion to the story of the wooden horse of Troy, used by the Greeks to trick their way into the city. It is recorded in Virgil's Aeneid, Book 2, 19 BC: "Do not trust the horse, Trojans. Whatever it is, I fear the Greeks even when they bring gifts."
