  3. IDA DEFENDS DECISION TO HIRE FOREIGNER WITH 'FAKE' DEGREE Post date: 15 Apr 2015 - 12:00pm [Pic Credit: ST] Background Story: EXPOSED: IDA HIRED A FOREIGNER WITH A DEGREE FROM A KNOWN DEGREE MILL After it was exposed by netizens that there is a foreigner working in IDA with a degree from a known degree mill, IDA has responded claiming that the MBA degree obtained from the degree mill did not go toward the decision of the HR department to award the job. Facebook user Sam Tan had posted to the IDA facebook page questioning them about their hiring policies and the allegations about one of their staff holding a fake degree. In response, IDA said: We have investigated and would like to share that Nisha Padmanabhan, a Singapore citizen who joined IDA in 2014, has a Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university and was recruited because of this Bachelor degree, extensive past work experience and good track record. Nisha pursued an MBA out of personal interest, and it was not a relevant certificate for her position in IDA though she was open about the fact that she had obtained it. Her MBA from Southern Pacific University was not a factor that contributed to her employment at IDA. In fact, 93.5% of all IDA staff that were hired at the level of Applications Consultant were based on their Bachelor’s degree. We would like to share that Nisha has been a committed team member and contributed in her role as an Applications Consultant for the past year. We would also like to take this chance to share that IDA selects employees based on a holistic set of criteria which includes their educational qualifications, work experience, individual career aspirations and personality traits. Essentially, IDA is claiming that when they hired her in 2014, they did not consider her MBA at all. Instead, they only looked at her een older bachelor's degree. Netizens who read the reply were not too pleased: What do you think of IDA's reply? This is the link to her linkedin. https://sg.linkedin.com/in/nishapkp

Thanks
  6. Hi everyone. I can't seem to find both my COE cert & car registration cert for my 2 year old car. Do we have to hold the physical certs & can we just print them online? Thanks
  7. I have a aftermarket exhaust which is LTA approved. the workshop sent in the paperwork and LTA approved it and i was suppose to get a copy of the cert and register. however, either i didnt received it or might have misplaced it, i dont have the cert now. is there anyway i can get LTA to send me again because the log card still show the stock exhaust. do i need to resubmit all the stuff through my workshop again? headache
  8. If the purpose of the current COE scheme is to control car population, we can make the COE cert follow the owner instead of the car and still achieve this purpose, yes/no? This way, car population is controlled yet when we need to change our car, we need not suffer when the prevailing COE price is sky high. Also, on a slightly separate topic, COE bidders should pay what they bid, and not the cut-off price (which can be much lower than what the bidders actually bid). This way, kia-su bidding will be less rampant and COE prices will be less likely to sky-rocket, making you and I suffer. Please feel free to agree or disagree............ (of course, lta's revenue thru COE may be affected, but their problems is theirs, not ours)
  9. Just when we are still congratulating ourselves for a job well done for the inaugural YOG & this has to happen. Hope the total costs, which would include the re-printing plus postage/courier services to local & ovesea folks, of rectifying the 45,000 certificates will not exceed S$1m. Else, it will really exceed the previous record of S$388m "Honest Mistake" taxpayer money... No more please.... http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1082993/1/.html YOG committee apologises for error in certificates By Evelyn Choo | Posted: 23 September 2010 1954 hrs SINGAPORE: The organising committee of the Youth Olympic Games (SYOGOC) has admitted to an error in the certificates issued to participants and volunteers. Approximately 45,000 certificates bore sample signatures of the committee chairman and International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge instead of the actual ones. The samples were used as place holders during the design process, and were sent to the printing firm by mistake. The committee says there was an oversight in the checking process and has apologised for the incident. It will be contacting the respective organisations, participants and volunteers to send them the new certificates by December. They can also contact the organising committee at [email protected]. - CNA/fa
  10. I lost my birth cert during moving house lately, how to replace?
  11. http://www.straitstimes.com/ST%2BForum/Sto...ory_280424.html I am amused and have a hard time believing the nonsensical request from Mr Tan. I can empathise with him being upset. But to bring the matter to a newspaper and hope to appeal? He describe himself as being horrified and agonised. and that number reversed his joy of having a child To me it is just a number. If a birthcert no do lay a auspicious path, then ICA should assign auspicious number to coincide with the new born bazhi. this will ensure our newborn are all auspicious and contribute the max to Singapore. Before anyone says I do not truly empathised, My daughter also have 444 as the last number of her BC. I didn't think a thing of it until i read ah tan letter. My girl have been our source of joy. we wish for her too to have an auspicious life. but believed that it is our duty to equipped her with skills to do that and do not think her 'fate' outcome has anything to do with a number from a piece of paper. What would you do if your kid is issued with the no 444?
  12. Read in the other forum (Toyota sg forum) that a SE bought a scrap cert to discount/offset the purchase of a new car even though the guy is buying his first car, i.e., no old car for trade in. Is this a normal practice by SE's?
