  1. [extract] If I were to ask what is the car in the picture above, you would probably have a hard time guessing. For those who could guess it, you deserve a pat on the back. For those who can't, it is actually the legendary Toyota Celica GT4 ST 185. The car was famous for dominating the World Rally Championships during the first half of the 1990s and it was also the first Japanese car to win the championship. Toyota

  3. http://www.turbomagazine.com/features/turp...rive/index.html Wow! Look at this celica......
  4. Cause I feel like getting a AWD car. Did consider the Subaru GC8 but it cost more than the Celica. Then the Celica GT4 also limited edition so a bit attracted to that. Saw a few on sale as well. Maybe can get one in decent shape and spend some $$$ to do it up and renew COE. Are there any serious problems with the Celica GT4?
  5. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...722&DL=1001 Just to tell others in case they are interested. This is not the Celica you would want due to the intercooler. The Carlos Sianz (CS) Celica is supposed to be using a water to air cooler, not air to air. The owner has most likely replaced the engine. Changing the engine is not an issue cause GT4s are using the same 3SGTE engine. But he did not install back the water intercooler. There is also an intake duct for the timing belt that was not installed (not critical though). The bonnet of the CS Celica is designed to vent heat out of the engine bay, not take in air. Thus if you have an ATA intercooler placed on top of the engine, it will become a heater instead as there is no cool air passing over the intercooler. The owner ought to change the bonnet to those which is meant for ATA intercooler (it has an intake scoop like WRX bonnet).

    The Toyobaru concept

This may be a rather messy name to remember, but I must say its one of the best looking Toyota's I've ever seen. Christened the FT-86 G Sports Concept, it is Toyota's first collaboration with Subaru. And this is what they've come up with so far. Its aggressive, bold, sharp and aerodynamic roof-line shouts out stunning coupe while that matte black vented bonnet and huge spoiler at the rear makes the 'Toyobaru' look like a serious track-day car. But what you are looking at is possibly the brand new Celica that Toyota has been planning to bring back from the dead. The side profile looks like it came from a blend between the Nissan 370Z and the GTR with bold and deep indentations to the side of the car. The part where Subaru comes in is under the bonnet where its 2.0litre Boxer engine lies and sources say that there's a turbo in the mix... Though no official figures are out on its power output, the FT-86 G features a six speed manual gearbox which will make classic stick-shift fans happy for sure. The best bit about this new car is its GPS system which is definitely a toy to die for in this car. It is a GPS Track Day ready system which is co-developed by the makers of Gran Turismo and automotive technology giant Denso. What this GPS system essentially does is, blast the car round a track a few times till you're happy with your time, remove a memory card from the car and stuff it into your PS3 and either watch a replay of your lap or race against yourself!!! The Japanese can never bore me.. its far too incredible for me to imagine just how cool that is... The best part, Toyota say they will offer this technology to more future models. If this is going to be the new Celica. I want one.
  9. Happy New Year to all Celica owners and fans. Wish you all a happy and prosperous new year.
  10. Thierry Dombreval, vice president of sales and marketing of Toyota France, has confirmed that the Toyota Celica will make its return in 2010. This will be the 8th generation of the rear-wheel drive sports coupe and Toyota will be developing the new Celica in collaboration with Subaru. The old Celica was a banging good car and I bet the new one will be even better. The standard GT version will come with a 1.8-litre engine which produces 140bhp, the GTS version will showcase a 1.8-litre 180bhp engine with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Well these are the speculated engines that Toyota will produce for the new Celica but hopefully more details will be available soon for the version that is going to be sold here in Singapore. Car 'zhngsters' get your wallets ready!

  13. Want to change the HU on my second hand car from a 1-Din to 2-Din, but the current bracket/casing I have is for 1-Din (and it is something I don't want to retain). Mechanic told me that brackets are not interchangable amongst all car models, so have to look for 1 that fits my ride, and he doesn't have it. I drive a Celica, anyone knows where to get the bracket I need? Or even where I can replace my 1-Din casing, because it is ugly. Thanks for any help!!
  14. My friend just bought the Hyundai Coupe NEW model and its quite chio... he said he was quite torn between the Hyundai Coupe and the Celica before he bought it as the price difference is quite small and both are really lovely. Starting this poll to see if MCFians prefers the Celica or the Hyundai... tks for voting...

    Celica

How i wish my dad had kept it for me.... my childhood memories.......
  16. Hi, I was considering about a celica ss1 (about 5 years old). Are there any reliability issues with the celica ss1? What are the likely additional maintenance costs which may arise? When I test drove this celica ss1, there was this squeaking sound from the rear wheels. The SE claimed that the wheel bearings were worn and had to be replaced (at his company's cost). Do the wearing of wheel bearings mean anything else other than regular usage? I also heard from a friend that his 5 plus years old corolla suffers from problems like steering lose (ie, when steering wheel turn, fronts wheel don't really turn). As for maintenance, I am also aware that the celica shares the same parts as many of its other toyota cousins. PS: Please don't pass useless comments like "don't buy lah" or "Sillycar" or "car cannot run". If you have nothing to say, please shut up. Please be specific about your comments too. Thanks.
  17. Heard somewhere that there are only 4 of them in SG. What makes them special compare to ordinary Celica?

  22. If you do not know, this is the supercharger used on the Irschimer Kalos. It is very small and can be installed like any turbocharger. The writer of the article says that the installers did it so well, it looks like it is stock on the car. I hope there will be an installer here that can do the same quality work. http://www.celica-club.co.uk/pages/modific...charger_top.htm Since the Irschimer Kalos has it, I hope that Rotrex will come out a kit for the 16V Aveo. Additional info: I have found a source for the Kalos Rotrex supercharger kit! Go here: http://www.delta-motor.ch/. Use a German translator. It is Swiss. Look at Kalos Sprint! 131HP with the supercharger. The circle of fire is complete! I have sourced and found: 1. Lowered springs. 2. Camber kit. 3. Supercharger. Destruction will now pave the roads again! Mwahaahahaha! I feel like Hitler re-arming Germany to kick British, American, Polish and Russion butt! Mwahahahahaha
