Was travelling along Lornie Road (Towards Sin Ming) and saw the massive jam on the opposite side... Saw some firemen and a fire engine parked along side and seems they have just put out a fire on a Toyota Corona... Seems like car fires are becoming quite a trend recently...

This did not happen to me, I am just thinking and wonder. Question 1: If the car that is parked besides yours catches fire and it burnt your car as well, would you be able to claim from that car's insurance? Or do you have to claim from your own? Question 2: In the above case, or the case where its your own car that started fire, do investigator checked if you have modded your car (legal mods like after market car stereo, installed dvr or just left your items like ipad inside car). And it happens that invesigation determines it was those non-stock items that caused the fire, would insurance pay?

A car caught fire at the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) Saturday afternoon. The car, believed to be a black Lexus sports model, was near the PIE Clementi Road exit in the Tuas to Changi direction. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at about 3.10pm concerning a vehicle on fire at the expressway. It sent a fire engine and a red Rhino to the scene, and firemen extinguished the fire with one water jet. SCDF said no one was injured. Investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. A BMW car caught fire at a carpark in the Geylang Serai on Wednesday (Mar 27), reported STOMPer Wiism who came across the scene and called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for help. In his report, the STOMPer wrote: "Was walking by Block 2A in Geylang Serai at about 12.30pm on Mar 27 when I saw smoke coming out from under the hood of a parked BMW 7-series car. "Thinking that something was amiss and being afraid that the car might explode, I called the SCDF and quickly moved to a safe distance from the car. "The car seemed to be unoccupied at the time. "As I waited anxiously for the SCDF to arrive. I noticed some other passers-by try to extinguish the fire by using a fire extinguisher and the water hose, which can be very dangerous. "Nevertheless, the SCDF came promptly to extinguish the fire and thankfully, no one suffered any injuries." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ai_carpark.html

My wife is generally a car-idiot. Which means she cannot tell one brand from another. Much less between models. Like many women, she is only interested in the colour. Sometimes she even mistook a Merc S-Class for our Toyota Altis !! [knife] But there are a few cars that ALWAYS catches her eye on the road or in a carpark. "What car is that har ?" she will ask, and she does not remember that she mentioned the same car 3 times that week. Here they are; (1) Volvo C30 (2) Jaguar XF (3) Porsche Panamera (4) Saab 9-3 Of course I will remind her that none of the above are in our Altis price range so she will have to wait ! What cars do your wives look at ??

I am just throwing a question here. Would you all pay more attention to a car with whitish looking headlights or those with yellowish looking headlights. White colour would perhaps be those using 5000K and above bulbs or HID. Or would a car with yellowish headlights catch your attention? Cause cars with white headlights will ususally catch my attention. I would have a 2nd look to see what car is it. But yellowish ones I don't care. I am currently using the Osram nightbreaker bulbs which look kind of yellowish rather than white thus wondering if it will catch any attention. Trying to stay low profile on the road as much as possible.

STOMPer Michael caught sight of this Citroen in flames along the CTE this morning. He says: "I drove past this Citroen Berlingo on fire along CTE this morning around 9.30. "Did not see anyone injured. "Apparently, the driver had time to salvage his belongings (see the island). "I wonder how this could happen, when Citroens are supposed to build safe cars and vans." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...nt.jsp?id=48549
