Hi guys, I need help.. Very recently, my 06 sonata give me problems. Ytd while I was driving from Bukit batok to Suntec, midway there, the engine starts to vibrate and keep dying when it is idling in jams. I restarted my car alot of time and the same cycle keep on repeats itself again, and the engine checklight keep blinking. After 3-4 mins , the condition start to improve, so i drove it down to komoco service centre at alexendra road, nothing happen while on my way there, it was very smooth(no engine light, no vibration etc). At komoco motors, they did a dignostic check and they change my spark plug as they tell me it causes the problem. So, i let them change. I collected my car on that day and no problem surface up during my journey home. But this morning , while i was driving, the engine checklight come out again ( but no vibration and dying ), i was worry so i drove the car back to komoco again. After they did a error code check, and they found out my cataylic converter is damage and causes the checklight to come out. They told me in order to replace the catalylic converter, i will need to wait for a week or 2 for the stock to arrive from korea and the replacement charge is 2k excluding labour. Right now i am very confuse, i called up my friend and he told me it was due to i pump the nearest shell near woodload causeway malaysia petrol and he told me his audi has this same problem before. My friend also recommend me to pump full tank singapore petrol and monitor the situation. After that i called up komoco and verify but they say it is not malaysia petrol that causes this problem, they told me it is due to high mileage of my car. My question now is should i listen to my friend and continue driving with the engine checklight on or should i change the cataylic converter? And does anyone encounted the same problem as me before and can share ur experience with me?
