SINGAPORE - Motor group Tan Chong is shutting down its Nissan showroom in Bukit Timah after being there for nearly four decades. The last motor facility in the area, the showroom was opened in 1982. The home-grown motor group, listed in Hong Kong, said it is closing its showroom because of "falling footfall", referring to declining number of customers visiting the Bukit Timah address. It will instead focus on its two other showrooms in Ubi and Leng Kee, sites of Singapore's two "motor belts". Mr Ron Lim, head of sales and marketing at Tan Chong Motor, said: "We review our operations from time to time to ensure that our resources are optimised. In line with the reduction in COE quotas, we have seen a fall in showroom traffic at Bukit Timah and we have decided to consolidate Nissan's showroom operations at Leng Kee and Ubi. "Our service centre at Bukit Timah will continue to serve customers. "

SINGAPORE: A serial prank caller who repeatedly made nuisance calls to the police – despite being jailed for the same offence previously – was sentenced to three years' jail on Thursday (Sep 6). Gurcharan Singh, a 61-year-old cleaner, usually made the 999 calls after drinking alcohol, the court heard. The latest incidents occurred over two days in June this year, with Singh making two calls on the first day and 15 on the second. On Jun 10, Singh called the police using a public phone at a void deck in Chai Chee. As the operator could not hear what he was saying, he asked him to call back with another phone. Singh then told the operator: "You are stupid." When asked what emergency he was calling about, Singh spoke incoherently about immigration and corruption. He also said: "I put one dynamite to the immigration house." He knew this message to be false, Deputy Public Prosecutor Daphne Lim said. If you're a line mgr, how do you feel about the bell curve and having to shoehorn the way you rate your team to fit the distribution? Is it realistic to expect the same outcome for each department regardless of their differences?

Hi, I would like to reach out to all of you who owns a JDM sports car meet, like how our neighbours have it. Even if yours is not a sport car but of rarity, please include yourself in too. We could mass order parts which would be cheaper to buy and ship from the same distributor in Japan, US or UK. TUNING? Aim is to bring back the nostalgic sports car meets back in the days of Kallang Carpark. Drift outings or practice Autox, Gymkana at our neighbours or safe location. Which may have a food destination. If you are feeling charitable we could organise something for social welfare as well. Is an open discussion and I would like to start the ball rolling. It also would be interesting to see what gems we have in Singapore as well. If your car is not in there like Daihatsu or Datsun, kindly include. Honda Mazda 1. Mazda RX-8 Type RS - Sw20 Mitsubishi Nissan Toyota Subaru

Driver angry at disabled man for calling LTA on illegally parked taxi He tipped a disabled man out of a wheelchair, causing the latter to suffer abrasions on his left wrist. Former cabby Jit Singh, 60, was yesterday jailed for two weeks and ordered to pay Mr Ng Eng Gee, 51, $500 in compensation after pleading guilty to one count of voluntarily causing hurt. He committed the offence after finding out that the wheelchair-user was the one who had informed the authorities that he had illegally parked his taxi on Dec 24, 2012. For assaulting Mr Ng, who has cerebral palsy, Singh could have been jailed up to two years and fined up to $5,000. I have a question for you. Do you think it is right for a mother to sell her body (whore) to earn money to feed her impoverished family which is laden with debt from her gambling addict husband? Of course, she has been trying to find decent work, seeking help charities but to no avail.

Hi, like to check if anyone tried calling the number to report parking offences in HDB area? In my area, there is a truck who had parked overnight, illegally in the loading bay for the last 2 weeks, despite I called several times to the hdb carpark enforcement office to complain about that, the truck is still there...no summon issue...? I have no issue with these people parking illegally cos sometimes I did that too...but doing it everyday and I supposed they dont buy the season parking becos a truck can never enter a multi storey car park, so I think it is not fair to those who bought the season parking. The last call I made to them, the officer asked me if I like to have the enforcer to come down....! WTf, I tot they supposed to attend to such complain...! So guys, look like I have being a kapo and getting nowhere.... Any alternative beside call the HDB...legally....
