  2. Saw this in STOMP. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._50m_apart.html
  3. Everytime at traffic ligth they will accelerate much faster than me one. They can easily pull a 20m gap ahead of me with ease man... Despite me revving till 2.4K RPM then change gear still no way to catch them. These cabs are really powerful. Sorry, edit... its till 2.4K RPM, not 2K. 2K is what I normally change gear at. ITs not when I drive harder.
  4. From the old Toyota Crown and Corona, to Mercedes, Skoda, Hyundai, Chrysler, wish, Fiat, so on, will that make the owner of the car used as taxis feel inferior provided that we spend a bomb paying for it and probably still paying for it while taxi companies used them to ferry passengers.. What you guys think, esp those who own one? ( I personally don't anyway. )
  5. Inspired to ask this by yet another thread on "f***ed up cabbies" - I've always wondered about one thing - why are taxis often classed as public transport vehicles? I've seen this propaganda on "go green" posters in Sg. Taxis are no better than private cars for the environment, and in fact, can be much much worse, given that a lot of their time is spent riding around, burning fuel, looking for prey...I mean passengers. Maybe the gahmen realises that going "hard" and uncompromising on the "go green" message - telling people to take BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk) only won't work because the public transportation network is already creaking near capacity at peak times, and isn't run all that efficiently or priced all that competitively. And Singaporeans do love their comforts when they can afford them (and why not?) - hence they'd rather take cabs if they can manage. Could also have to do with the fact that the cab companies pay healthy amounts of money into their coffers, and our gahmen loves nothing more than regular, healthy infusions of cold cash to keep that spring in its step. But it's still the wrong message - taxis pollute more than private cars - if every fare that takes a cab on a regular basis buys their own car and uses them to take the exact same route, the fuel burnt and the CO2 emitted would still come out to be less than the cab within the same time period (because of the "prowl-time" of the cab between fares). The inherent assumption here is that commuting would not go up significantly when one buys their own car, and I accept it may be a flawed one. Buses aren't all that hot pollution/consumption-wise, but I think they edge out private cars on a per-person basis. I'm not a 100% on this though, since I haven't done the math. I think MRT is still the most green way to travel (but this still needs proof). Thoughts?
  6. i know there's alota good cabbie uncles and aunties out there ... but i'm getting alota my friends hit & run by cabbies till the latest was the last straw... 22th may .. after a soccer game .. friend went back on his bike ..sober as can be .. RIP my old schoolmate ..
  7. Scenario Few nights ago on my way for a nice dinner in town, I was along jalan besar road. I was on the left lane filtering to the center lane. Noticed a big gap from the car behind so I signalled and started to filter. The next thing I know this swine SOB COMFORT cab sped up like it had turbo & NOS preventing me from cutting. As my car was already half in the middle lane, this prick just wack. Missing my side mirror by less than 1cm. Confrontation Best, both of us stop at the traffic light side by side. I turned and looked at him. He wind down his window and hurled vulgarities at me and the hand sign up down left right macham wayang like that. Ask me come come BUEH SONG LAI LAI! In his gangster mobil there was a family with small kids all looked stunned and frightened. Reaction I was thinking Pu Bor Kia, feel like going behind grab my spanner drag him out of the cab and DHAN him few times NBZ. But then my wife tell me, don't be like the hooligan cabbie so I just relak and take a deep breathe. Good thing my annivesary dinner wasnt spoilt by rashness. Conclusion I have seen many occasions that taxi drivers getting into road arguements much more than normal cars. Once I even saw the cabbie get down of his COMFORT cab and started kicking the door of a rice picanto. Maybe its just coincidental? But I think there are more gangster cabbies nowdays. Anyone encountered such things with these m*th**f*c**s, oops I mean cabbies?
  8. Hi Mods; First of all.. a really big thanks for having this forum and for keeping them so well.. I have been reading through quite a fair bit of the post and I really enjoyed them.. One thing I've noticed is that quite a fair bit of the MCF members have really unpleasent encounters with CABs.. I was hoping that you might create a folder and divert all these feedback to the folder.. I really hope the people from the cab companies read this forum and do something about it.. I think they owe us that much..
