Tried searching the forum and the discussions were very old (10 years back!) Would want to add a 12V socket (or 2 sockets, depends on cost and complexity) at the car boot area - anyone done it before? Any recommendation on workshops that can do it nicely? TIA!

I got my hdb house in 1988 and did my renovation with running of electrical & phone wires concealed inside my false ceiling. Then come Cablevision (now Starhub) and had to run an ugly trunking accross my dinning hall to hall just under the false ceiling....... So after staying for 18 years, I did a general renovation in 2007 to have all wire concealed and nicely done which I also expect to install the MIO system when Starhub lost the BPL rights to telecast. My Starhub, Singtel sockets and wiring were so well conceal behind a display cabinate so as to have a 40" flat screen TV mounted on the wall. KNN....................... now come OpenNet. Receive a letter with regards to the installing of fibre optic OpenNet cable. They are doing it for free and should we did not up the offer, the next time if we want to wire OpenNet, we have to pay $300+........ Its stated in their booklet that the fibre optic is for fast running broadband and also in future, able to watch HD & 3D TV movies. So its seem like I have to run the trunking just below the false ceiling again ........

Hi All Its my turn to do the Open Net cabling. My place has the LAN cabling built into the house and terminates near the Starhub distribution box and power point. I was told by Starhub that I can connect the ISP box at this setup. The Open Net contractor says I have to situate the fibre box near the TV, but this will mean ugly trunking since my TVs are only in the bedrooms. Also it doesn't make sense since most homes now have multiple TVs. 1) Can someone help identify my LAN terminal box and how do I connect them to a router or LAN switch? 2) Is it feasible to hook up the complete fibre setup at this remote position and have the LAN points or wireless router serve the whole house (as per what I have read in the Open Net website)? 3) Who or what type of company does this type of hookup work? Thanks for all advice!

Need some suggestions here: I've got 2 amps. 1 4 channel and 1 monoblock Option 1: 2 x 0 gauge power cables connected directly from battery to amps Option 2: 1 x 0 gauge power cable to distribution block and 2 x 4 gauge from distribution block to amps Which one is better? Thanks!

Perhaps i started my career in just building network infrastructure. From the IT/Telco perspective, cabling is important. Good cable gives you good throughput and better highwidth. Problem often occurs where the most qualified engineers tend to forget about circuitry basics. Basics does not mean that you buy efficient cables but also applying the right cables to work to complement with the components as well as it layout to reduce interferences. i would term it cabling efficient here. Applyig the same cocept to ICE, a good pair of RCA, speaker or power does improve the efficiency ICE electrical system. As in the view of fidelity, it means that I expect the cabling system reduce the withdrawal of signal into the sound system while reducing the interferences/impedence. Thus, some thoughts will be cabling material must be of reasonable quality as well as good application of it. E.g have you ponder what sort of cable to when you running 2ohm as compared to 4 ohms? How about the connectors? Lastly, the tidiness of the ICE cable does help too (in my industry will be layout). This will decrease LOS as well as future maintenance effort purpose. Perhaps it is in our part of the world that we treat cables like dirt. I observed engineers or ICE lovers has the common habit or dumping cables. In reality, cables can be kept and be reused, reused and reused. Thus, on the budget side, i will set aside a bigger part of my money onto this infrastructure as anyway i alway recover them for the next usage. What is your feel?
