TL;DR- Police car made illegal U-turn, facebook comments are wrong The comments section are once again alight with intelligent debate (swearing and accusations) and civilised discourse (putting down others and placing yourself as the superior person). Just another day on Facebook. What happened? On 23 March, 9,36p.m, a cam car caught a police car making an illegal U-turn at Braddell Flyover. Cue shocked gasps. You can even hear the cam car driver say “What the…” when the police car cut him off in the footage. However, Facebook says otherwise, with many comments defending the police car and saying it is the cam car’s fault. But are they actually right? The confusing road of Braddell Flyover This is the road that the cam car and police car was on in the video. As we can see, the road signs both have arrows indicating that drivers on this lane need to go right. However, why is this so? Seems redundant to have two lanes to go in the same direction. Besides this, the two cars in front of the cam and police car went in the same direction, and not the one indicated on the road, i.e straight. So are they wrong as well? They aren’t. The police car really is in the wrong. This is because all parties are really turning right, but to a different degree of right. Here’s a diagram from another Facebook user to explain, with arrows indicating what car was going where. The police car was actually making a U-turn, but was in the wrong lane to do so. Furthermore, there was no U-turn sign visible. The cam car was not in the wrong as they would be allowed to drive “straight”, and the police car should have been in the cam car’s lane too in order to execute that turn LEGALLY. In conclusion, police car confirm wrong. Oh no, this white Porsche Macan is going to get flamed online by neitzens everywhere with his/her brake-checking skills. Spotted on SG Road Vigilante's page is this video of a Porsche SUV that is pissed with the camera car not giving way on 30th of Nov 2020. Everything started from the junction of Upper Thompson and Braddell Road with the Porsche slowly catching up to the camera car which was going a decent speed. The Porsche then wanted to overtake on Braddell road for a few times but somehow luck was not in his way and the camera car seemed like it was blocking the SUV. With ego getting the best of the SUV driver, the Macan then a bad judgement call at Braddell Underpass, trying to cut into the camera car's lane without signal. Funny thing is throughtout the other parts of the video, the Macan did signal his intentions mostly... From then on, it then seemed like the Macan wanted to give the camera a piece of his mind and brake-checked the camera car after finally overtaking it. Was it solely the fault of the Porsche? Or was the camera car in the wrong for not giving way despite knowing the Porsche had intentions to overtake? It does take two hands to clap afterall...

It is only me who felt this ? The new bridge across from Toa Payoh to Bishan looks kind of dangerous without the supporting column. Every morning when I drove under it, I will quietly murmured "那摩阿弥陀佛 “。

An accident involving five vehicles took place in front of Braddell MRT Station at 2.20pm on Saturday. The vehicles involved were a taxi, a grey Toyota Camry, a green Toyota Allion, a black Suzuki and a black BMW. It is understood that the Camry drove out from under Block 107, hit the taxi, before reversing and hitting the Suzuki. It then reversed again, colliding into the metal railing outside the MRT exit. Works to widen a busy stretch of Braddell Road, between Toa Payoh North Flyover and Braddell Flyover, will begin in the third quarter of this year, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA). When completed by end 2015, the road will be expanded from its current dual-three lanes to a dual-five lane carriageway, which is expected to alleviate the traffic congestion that the stretch currently experiences. As part of the road widening project, the LTA will also be constructing a new single lane flyover to allow vehicles that are turning to the right from Toa Payoh to connect directly with the Braddell Underpass as they head towards Paya Lebar. The junctions of Lorong 1 to Lorong 6 Toa Payoh, and Lorong 1 to Lorong 4 Toa Payoh, will also be improved. "When completed, the road widening project will help to alleviate heavy traffic conditions currently experienced along Braddell Road during the peak hours and meet anticipated increase in traffic demand," said an LTA spokesperson. Residents in the area can also expect two new pedestrian bridges across Braddell Road. Necessary noise mitigation measures will also be in place for this widening project, both during and after construction, assured the LTA. Bishan resident James Martin, who is in his 20s and uses Braddell Road regularly to get home, would often be stuck in traffic congestion along the stretch during evening peak hours. "If the project helps to resolve jams, it will be great," he said. Source: http://www.todayonline.com/Singapore/EDC12...-peak-hour-jams & http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_788320.html

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Monday said it will lower Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at the CTE gantry north of Braddell Road from Nov 8. From 8am to 9am, the current ERP rate of $2.00 will be lowered to $1.00. The rates for the other gantries will remain unchanged. The revised rates come after the LTA's quarterly review of traffic conditions on ERP-priced roads and expressways. The next ERP review will take place in November this year, for the December school holidays. Source: http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_729022.html

Hi, Just saw the aftermath of a terrible accident along braddell road this afternoon 2 Sept 07 approx 3pm. I think a purple color car crashed thru the metal fence centre-divider, knocked down a small tree and hit a Toyota MPV in the opp lane. By the time I drove pass, only saw the aftermath of the destruction. 2 TP motor bikes were park on the road to warn oncoming vehicles... coz the accident vehicles occupied the right lane on a 2 lane road. Could see that the purple vehicle that crashed thru the fence and tree had its front totally smashed. The Toyota MPV was unlucky to get knocked in the front as well! Hope drivers and passengers are not seriously hurt. Drive safely everyone. Cheers

SINGAPORE: The Angsana tree in the middle of Braddell Road will be removed after all. The tree had been preserved during road works in 2005, at a cost of S$200,000. A three-lane road had to be split to accommodate the tree. But the Land Transport Authority (LTA) says the tree has to go, as a safety measure. Despite precautionary measures such as additional road markings and safety signs, many motorists still run the risk of collision as they ignore the 40km/h speed limit. Many have also been unable to keep to their lanes. The LTA adds that it had received reports of 'near accident' situations along this stretch. So the LTA and the National Parks Board have decided it would be prudent to remove the tree. To facilitate the removal, there will be lane closures along Braddell Road from 15 July until 7 August 2007. - CNA/yy http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../287601/1/.html i had drove past this road a few times and hd no problem with it. anyone with near accidents experience?
