  1. Recently, by an incredible stroke of luck, I came across the website of the army boys trade school. https://sites.google.com/site/mybalep/Home My dad's name is inside but I shall keep it secret. By another stroke of luck, I managed to actually email someone from the site and he knew my dad personally. He is not in Singapore but he has emailed me photos which I have never seen before and given me locations of their meet ups. What is the army boys trade school? Basically boys from Singapore and Malaya would join this. This was under the British. It is a school where they learned soldiering and also got an education as well. From what I understand, this education was more of a technical education where they learneda sspecific skill. As part of the British army, they too fought for Singapore during the confrontation years. Yet I have never seen a mention of them in mindef magazines. And I have never met a single person outside of family who has actually heard of this school, not to mention known someone from there. So now I have this opportunity to meet them. I am of two minds. One is not to meet as it might be awkward as they do not know me, just my father and he passed away close to twenty years ago. On the other hand, these people are old and the list of those who died are getting longer. If I don't try, i might never get another chance. If you were me, would you? By the way my dad's picture is inside so if anyone knows anyone from this picture can message me privately.
  2. SINGAPORE - The principal of a secondary school molested seven teenage boys on separate occasions at his workplace in 2017, a district court heard on Friday (Aug 28). The boys, who were between 13 and 15 years old at the time, were at-risk youths who had family problems. They also had disciplinary records both in school and outside. The school's operations manager often called them to the general office to either serve their detention or to counsel and inform them of the disciplinary action they faced . Deputy Public Prosecutor Mark Yeo said: "Upon noticing a student... the accused would call him into his room to speak to the student. At times, the accused would also inform the students' teachers of his intention to speak with them and fix a suitable time for them to meet him at his office on the pretext of discussing their disciplinary issues." The man would then molest the boys in his office. In an earlier statement, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said that the man is no longer employed by the ministry as of Jan 1, 2018. The 48-year-old Singaporean pleaded guilty on Friday to three counts of molestation involving three boys. Eight other charges for similar offences, including those linked to the other four boys, will be taken into consideration during sentencing. Both the man and the school cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the boys' identities. Sometime before Aug 20, 2017, the operations manager was talking to one of the victims, then 13 years old, about his disciplinary issues when the accused intervened and said that he would take over the matter. He then molested the boy after they entered his office. The DPP said: "(The boy) did not disclose the incident to anyone in its immediate aftermath. Given his disciplinary issues, he felt that no one would believe him if he were to disclose what the accused had done to him." By using a similar ruse, the man molested a 14-year-old boy in September 2017 and a 13-year-old boy the following month. In late October that year, the man molested another 14-year-old boy, who told another victim, a 15-year-old student, about his ordeal. On Oct 25, 2017, the two teenagers told the operations manager about what had happened and the matter was reported to the MOE. An MOE officer alerted the police on Nov 6 that year, the court heard. In its earlier statement, the ministry said that it takes a serious view of staff misconduct. Its spokesman added that the ministry will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who fail to adhere to its standards of conduct and discipline, including dismissal from service. The former principal is now out on bail of $15,000 and he will be sentenced on Oct 6. For each count of molesting a child below 14 years old, an offender can be jailed for up to five years and fined or caned. Seems like all these sexual predators lurk in schools. Damn jialat
  3. Girls vs. Boys: Brain Differences Might Explain Tech Behaviors By Julie Jargon https://www.wsj.com/articles/girls-vs-boys-brain-differences-might-explain-tech-behaviors-11569317402?shareToken=stf11a3d13d7ef4c92a3a25ed4a6e2867e&mod=djmc_pkt_evgrn Recent research shows the brain’s rewards regions activate when males crave videogames, girls face more depression when overusing social media Many parents of both boys and girls have witnessed striking differences in the way their kids use technology, with their sons generally gravitating to videogames and their daughters often spending more of their screen time scrolling through social media. Emerging research indicates that brain differences between males and females help account for the split. “It is entirely plausible from a neurological perspective that there’s an underlying biological component to this difference people are seeing,” said Larry Cahill, a professor of neurobiology and behavior at the University of California, Irvine, who has spent two decades researching gender differences in the brain. In this column I’ve chronicled the aggression some boys exhibit when they have to shut off videogames and transition to other activities, as well as the problems some young men face when they go to college and have to juggle game time and school work without mom and dad’s help. That led some readers to question why girls don’t appear to be having these problems. Of course, girls have issues of their own, such as smuggling “burner” phones to keep up with forbidden social media accounts. It’s just that when it comes to videogames, most girls seem to have a better handle on when to stop. According to a 2017 survey conducted by Pew Research Center, 41% of teenage boys said they spend too much time playing videogames while only 11% of girls said they do. Marc Potenza, a psychiatry professor at Yale University, teamed up with researchers at universities in China to find out why. Using functional MRIs, which measure brain activity by detecting changes in blood flow, the team studied neural responses in young male and female gamers, particularly in the parts of the brain associated with reward processing and craving—a motivating factor in addiction. When the men and women were shown photos of people playing videogames, those parts of the men’s brains showed higher levels of activation than those parts of the women’s brains. Brain regions that have been implicated in drug-addiction studies also were shown to be more highly activated in the men after gaming. The researchers said the results suggest men could be more biologically prone than women to developing internet gaming disorder. But girls and women aren’t free from problems when it comes to digital media. Data from Pew shows that, in general, women use social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest far more than men. Many girls and women are drawn to those photo-sharing sites because they like to form bonds and find similarities, says Rosanna Guadagno, a social psychologist at Stanford University. Even if women only use those sites more than men because that is where their friends are, many experts and parents say they have found that girls appear to have a greater fear of missing out, which compels them to keep up with what their friends are posting. Some recent studies show that girls feel the ill effects of too much social media use, such as depression and anxiety, more than boys do. Liz Repking, a cyber safety expert and mother of three in suburban Chicago, has seen the differences in her own sons and daughter. Earlier this summer, her 15-year-old daughter said her phone was driving her crazy. She told her that she felt pressured to follow her friends’ Instagram stories and like and comment on their posts, and that it was eating up a lot of her time, Ms. Repking said. Her sons, 18 and 21, use social media—Snapchat, in particular—mostly to communicate with friends but don’t feel compelled to keep up with what people are posting. “There’s more peer pressure and validation I see with it for her than for the boys,” she said. In August, Ms. Repking’s daughter decided to impose some limits, such as being on her phone no more than three hours a day and checking Instagram less frequently. “When I asked her a week later how that was going, she said, ‘I’m only looking at Instagram three times a day but I can’t catch up,’” Ms. Repking said. One might argue that multiplayer videogames are the way boys connect with friends online. But it’s different. “Videogames can be social but there’s also a physical distance because you don’t see photos, and communication is largely through text, which is more consistent with the direct way men tend to communicate with each other,” Dr. Guadagno said. Researchers at the University of Zurich looked at how differences in brain functioning can help explain why women tend to be more prosocial—that is, helpful, generous and cooperative—than men. In the 2017 study, they hypothesized that the areas of women’s brains related to reward processing are more active when they share rewards and that those areas in men are more active when receiving selfish rewards. Brain scans conducted on men and women, in which they chose between receiving a monetary reward only for themselves or one that involved sharing money with others, supported their theory. The Lego Group learned a lot about the prosocial nature of girls more than a decade ago when it conducted research on who buys the brick building kits. At the time, about 90% of the Lego sets purchased in the U.S. were intended for boys. That led the company to conduct more research with girls which revealed, among other things, that girls wanted more role-playing opportunities. Lego created a pastel-colored line called Friends, which sold well but was criticized by some consumer groups—including the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood—for reinforcing gender stereotypes. Academics who study gender differences also have faced backlash for pointing out that boys and girls aren’t the same. “It’s not a debate that there are sex influences throughout the mammalian brain,” said Dr. Cahill. “How they all play out is what we should responsibly explore.” Scientists say understanding those differences is critical to parents’ ability to help kids navigate the fast-changing world of tech. Our brains haven’t caught up to modern times, says Dr. Guadagno, which is why kids’ digital behavior can feel so confusing and overwhelming to parents trying to manage it. “Human brains are wired for survival on the savanna,” she said. “They’re not wired for social media and videogames.” Write to Julie Jargon at [email protected] PHOTO: STEVEN SALERNO

  10. A TWO-year-old boy had his penis cut off by a stranger while playing outside his house in Tianshu, in Gansu province in China. His parents, insisting that the family had no enemies, believed the boy's missing part was used as an ingredient for men's sex medicine, reported China Press and Kwong Wah Yit Poh. The boy is still in hospital. The incident happened on July 6 when the boy was playing alone outside his house. Picnic06 on the loose and will chop your kkj
  11. CNB is a place where poly or ITE grads who cannot make it in REAL life will join upon dropping out. I am not surprised they have received SO many complaints every other day. The way some of these young boys behave is no different than those rascals from 369. In fact, many 369 members behave much much better like human beings than these dogs from the CNB. Personally I got some complaints against some of them too, esp in the customs. Las time they used to place those boys with gold hair, very long gold hair and say they are CNB at the checkpoints. This is very unsightly. If you want to place CNB boys there to play, at least put in some decent looking chaps. Thats why among the civil ministry, CNB is the most looked down upon. Got one period of time they courted controvesy over the ENTRAPMENT issues. You know why they did it? Cos they are inept and brainless that if they dont do it, their quotas and KPI will be affected. Man alleges assault by drug busters 16 Share 0 inShareBy Shaffiq Alkhatib The New Paper Friday, Jun 22, 2012 I was assaulted by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers after being arrested, a man has alleged in a police report. Mr Wan (not his real name) said the alleged beatings began after he made a casual remark about wanting to be spoken to in "a nice manner". The sales assistant, 24, told The New Paper last Monday that he had done time behind bars in 2008 for pushing a policeman. But even that experience did not prepare him for the treatment he allegedly received from the CNB officers, the married father of a three-year-old son said. In his police report, Mr Wan said a friend had given him a lift on a motorcycle to meet other friends at a Bukit Batok coffee shop for dinner at 8.15pm on June 8. "We stopped at the roadside near the coffee shop. We had just got off the bike when a group of officers approached us. I don't remember if they were police or CNB officers," he said. He said he and his friend were asked to empty their pockets and they complied. "The officers later told us that they wanted to take us in for a urine test, so we just followed them," he added. Mr Wan alleged that he and his friend were handcuffed and a van took them to the Jurong Police Division Headquarters. "The officers tested our urine and drugs were not detected in my sample. I was then taken to a room to give my statement to a CNB officer," he said. While there, Mr Wan claimed that he was sitting on a chair when one of the officers, whom he said had spiky hair, yelled at him. The police report stated that Mr Wan asked the officer to speak to him in a "nice manner". "As I was speaking to him, I was suddenly punched by another officer on my left ear," he said in the report. "After that, I was hit about six or seven times by several others and I leaned forward. "When I tried to lean back, I was kicked on the chest and thigh by this other officer. I remember that he had a floppy fringe." Mr Wan alleged that the officer told him to go under a desk while he took his statement. He said in the report: "He used his right foot to press down on my handcuffs. He also rested his right leg on my shoulder." Mr Wan alleged that his left ear and left wrist became swollen and he also suffered a cut on his lips in the alleged beating. According to his police report, he was taken to a lock-up at around 2am the next day and he requested for a doctor to attend to his injuries. 12. My neighbour's sec sch boy has been bringing his friends back to play mahjong everyday since last Dec. Even though they throw their fast-food waste outside the rubbish chute and mess up the place, we all just ignore them. A few weeks ago, they moved their mj table outside the flat to the lift landing and played there. As a result, we can hear them though our unit is far away fr the lift. When I came home just now, I could hear them 'washing the tiles' fr ground floor. No kidding, I'm staying on the highest flr, more than 10 floors. Never mind, I tell myself to ignore, coz that family is typical zero upbringing family. But when I step out of the lift and head towards my unit, one of them said 'happy new year 新年快乐' I continued to walk, immediately a string of vulgarities followed. Obviously he not happy I ignore him. I have decided to take action, which is the relevant authority to contact? I don't know if they are using chips to gamble, coz I nvr want to look at them. And they are obviously hooligans, my mum heard the boy quarrelling with his friends and they threaten to splash red paint on his doors. However they were back playing mj the next day. I will even call the police, but my concern is, would they say it's none of their business if they not using gambling chips?

  15. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ef_teacher.html I'm sure not all female teachers are like her. Some want 40k grand wedding, this one is into boys, how kinky. A STOMPer was appalled when he came across a blog created by a relief teacher in Singapore, who said that only ACSi boys are worth dating, and that guys from Raffles Institution and Chinese High are "ugly". Said the STOMPer: "I came across this blog created by a relief teacher in Singapore. "She compared boys from all-boys schools, and described boys from Chinese High and Raffles Institution as being 'ugly' and that St Andrews boys are 'imitated goods of ACSi'. "She said ACSi boys are the only ones worth dating. "She described ACSi boys as being 'rich, spoilt, pampered, arrogant player but NEVER ugly, cowardly/disloyal, stupid, dumb...' "This relief teacher he even has a checklist for people who hate her -- asking them if their PSLE score is above 260, or if they have been scouted by countless modelling agencies, among others. "She may be smart, but why must she think so highly of herself? "I think there will always be someone smarter than you, no matter how intelligent you think you are. But you'll never be wise until you've learnt about humility."

  19. Date: 02/06/2010 Source: mypaper Journalist: ANNABELLE LIANG Photographer: (PHOTOS: STOMP) SINGAPORE Armed Forces (SAF) soldiers are giving themselves a bad name, with a recent spate of misdemeanours. One posted a photograph of himself in full army attire, holding a cigarette and leaving his SAR21 rifle unattended. In another incident, a group of soldiers was caught visiting a brothel during a military exercise in Taiwan. According to a May 22 report by The Liberty Times, a Taiwanese newspaper, a certain Sergeant Wang and three other SAF soldiers were caught visiting a massage parlour that also operated as a brothel in the southern city of Pintung. It was reported that Sgt Wang broke away from the trio of Singaporean soldiers, as well as four accompanying Taiwanese soldiers, to visit the parlour. After getting their dinner, the rest went to the parlour to wait for him and were ambushed by Taiwanese police, who were raiding the brothel that evening. The news article was published on citizen-journalism website Stomp yesterday. Also fresh on Stomp were an article and photograph of a full-time national serviceman squatting and posing with a cigarette, a "rocker" hand gesture and an unattended SAR21 rifle. The soldier, who is believed to be on duty at a sentry post, uploaded the photograph onto a social-networking site. The post drew a slew of reactions from Stomp users. One user named Decadent wrote that the soldier was going to get into huge trouble, but that he deserved it because uploading the photos was stupid. On the contrary, ToShac68 was unfazed, and said that duties in the army were only a simulation, and that the man simply wanted to "pose like American or British soldiers, holding guns and smoking in uniform". Full-time national servicemen, however, took the postings in a more serious light. One of them, Private Timothy Tan, said: "It tarnishes the image of the SAF as most soldiers are usually very disciplined. "They are poor representatives of the current soldiers and poor examples to future generations of soldiers." Another NSF, Lance-Corporal Li Wen Hao, said: "It is irresponsible of them, as they represent our country. Now that it has gone public, it will affect the good reputation of other NSFs." When NSFs were found to be forming groups on social-networking website Facebook last year, the Ministry of Defence said that all SAF personnel are not to disclose or post classified or sensitive information and photos online.
