Some drivers and passengers still persist in not wearing seat belts, despite the very real possibility that they could be flung out of the vehicle should an accident occur. For some, personal comfort overrides the safety factor, while others are simply too used to not buckling up despite numerous safety campaigns over the years. The issue of belting up came into focus after a Singaporean woman and her son were killed on Saturday after being flung out of their car in a crash on the North-South Expressway in Malaysia. They were on their way back from Malacca. Belting-up is compulsory for both the driver and the car's passengers in both the front and rear seats in Singapore and Malaysia. Did my 70K servicing 1.5 mths back & the mechanic told me the above. Cost about $250+ At that I thought of waiting till tbe 80K servicing. Going to Malaysia for holiday next week, so this thing pops into my mind. Maybe I should change them for safety. Normally, what's the replacement period ? Car reaching 2 yrs next mth.
