The trio took the boy to a deserted tennis court at the Jurong West Sports and Recreation Centre, where they rained punches and kicks on him before ordering him to strip to his underwear. They made him lie down and took turns standing on a metal drain cover that was placed on his naked chest. The victim was then ordered to take off his briefs and wear them on his head, while shouting 'underwear king' in Mandarin. He was then told to run 20 laps around the tennis court, and was also made to do star jumps.

Retrieved from the electric New Paper The four policemen went undercover to look for illegal activities in a Geylang backlane. But the operation quickly turned ugly when they arrested one person at a makeshift gambling stall. A crowd of about 200 people gathered around the officers and threw whatever they could lay their hands on, such as beer bottles and glasses, rocks and even rubbish. They became so unruly that one officer pulled out his gun, turned on its laser guide and aimed it at them. They calmed down, but became aggressive again when one of the men in the crowd, Foong Yuen Kuang, 28, charged aggressively towards one of the officers and challenged him. Speaking in a mixture of English and Hokkien, he openly challenged the undercover officer to a "one-on-one" fight with him. The mob resumed throwing things at the officers and dispersed only when police reinforcements arrived 15 minutes later. By then, the four officers were bruised and bloodied. They received treatment at Changi General Hospital. The dramatic details of the confrontation were revealed at the trial of Foong, a Singapore permanent resident, who faced one charge each of rioting and using threatening words at a police officer

By Teh Joo Lin A SINGAPORE Armed Forces (SAF) recruit was beaten up in camp last month and is still warded in hospital with head injuries. The 19-year-old's mother told The Straits Times he had to be warded in the intensive care unit of Changi General Hospital for nine days before being moved to a general ward about a week ago. The 45-year-old housewife, who has four children, said her oldest son suffered internal bleeding in the head. According to the soldier's mother, he was hit on the head with poles by several of his camp mates. The attack allegedly took place behind closed doors in an office in the camp. Her son enlisted last June and was assigned storeman duties in his camp. The Defence Ministry is now investigating the incident. Its director of public affairs, Colonel Darius Lim, said: 'The SAF does not condone any form of unruly behaviour by its servicemen. It takes a serious view of this incident.' He added: 'Once the investigations are completed, servicemen who are found guilty of any improper conduct in this incident will be severely dealt with. The army is assisting the serviceman who is currently warded in a general ward in hospital." Mindef did not say how many soldiers were being investigated. It is also not clear what the dispute between the victim and his attackers was over. After the assault, the recruit was apparently taken to his bunk, where he was found vomiting on the floor later that night. He was then taken to hospital. The youth has since regained consciousness and 'can remember everything', although the left side of his body was still weak from the injury, his mother said. Recalling the incident, she said: 'At that time, I was really so scared, I was going to the temple every day,' adding that she had not been able to eat or rest properly since her son was hospitalised. 'My son came back from the dead.' SAF soldiers who run afoul of the law can be dealt with under military law or in civilian courts. Under military law, serious offenders may be court-martialled, and the penalties include detention, reprimands and fines. Under the Penal Code, the maximum punishment for endangering a person's life by causing grevious hurt to him is a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine or caning. If not for the internet, they won't even leeport it as in the past. I guess the mother is pissed with MINDEF acting blur, and threatened to write to the press. Military law is just giving them a slap on the wrist.Colonel Darius Lim should be invesitgated himself for not making this matter public earlier. There should a public inquiry on the atrocious discipline in the army camp.

Italy, What a sore loser. Complaint, complaint, complaint World Champion lost to men in orangie (Holland) by 3 goals.... ESPN Soccernet Report : World champions Italy suffered a calamitous start to their Euro 2008 campaign as they fell to an impressive Holland in their Group C opener in Bern. The Dutch were lucky to take a 26th-minute lead after Ruud van Nistelrooy turned in Giovanni van Bronckhorst's effort Saw this morning CNA news highlight that Italy claimed was rejected that RVN was offside when he score the first goal as there is one injured Italy player at the goal line near to the goal post.... The other match (France vs Romania) which I watch was a big disappointment. Both sides shots on target at goals added up not more than 15 times..... Never surprise whenever Anelka played, one man show.... , but their no 22 Frank Ribery is , a target of summer transfer for Liverpool.... Tonight will watch Spain.... (Torres).....
