Dear MCFERS. My PRISM+ TV arrived last Friday and so far I am pleased with it. I bought their expensive swivel mount with the extended arm and the main gripe of mine is in order to tilt up or down, you have to release the nut or screw first. That's quite a hassle compared to the mount I have in the living room. But to be fair, the living room one does not come with an extension. VID-20211123-WA0017~2.mp4 VID-20211123-WA0016.mp4 So while I'm pleased with the TV so far, I feel like the audio can do so much better. It's decent quality but LG one is better, bassier. So my next quest is, I think I need to beef up the sound system. How can I do that without breaking the bank? I have about $400 worth of Taka vouchers and I went down Taka to check and I think these are the only two that's available. JBL and Harman Kardon. Checked both reviews and while it's not fantastic you don't get to test it out at the shop too. Leaning towards a soundbar as I think it's arguably more space saving. I need something with an oomph in the bass lol. Is there anything decent that's not more than $500 or am I being unrealistic? Send help! This is exactly why they have Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sale so soon after 11.11.

(Photo by Shuhei Yuzawa) SHUHEI YUZAWA, Nikkei staff writerOctober 11, 2022 00:03 JST TOKYO -- High-end Japanese audio equipment maker Esoteric has launched its first analog turntable -- at a sticker price normally reserved for new cars. The Grandioso T1, released last month, sets itself apart by using a magnetic driver and platter to achieve contactless rotation. Unlike conventional turntables, it reduces vibrations that would disturb the playback of a record. The device does not come cheap: its suggested retail price starts at 7.15 million yen ($49,500). Esoteric's parent company Teac, an electronics maker, invited this reporter to the company's headquarters to take a listen to the turntable. The equipment was hooked up to Teac speakers priced at 40 million yen. The Grandioso played a powerful instrumental piece, and the ear was able to pick out the most minute notes. Although the experience was overwhelming, it was hard to tell whether the credit goes to the turntable or the high-end speakers. A request was made to play a song this reporter was more familiar with, so Teac put on "Wrapped in Kindness," an early release by Yumi Arai that was featured in the Studio Ghibli feature film "Kiki's Delivery Service." The occasional crackle heard during the listening added flavor to the experience. Teac gave a demonstration of the new turntable, hooked up to a 40 million yen speaker system. Turntables found at cafes and similar establishments normally sell for hundreds to a few thousand dollars. The target market for the Grandioso will be wealthy customers overseas, and the machines will be sold through dealerships. Esoteric "has achieved increases in sales and profits for six consecutive years," said President Hiroshi Oshima. The company's success owes largely to growing shipments outside of Japan. Overseas markets now account for over 60% of overall revenue, with many customers in mainland China and Hong Kong. In 2020, Esoteric signed its first distributorship deal in South America. Esoteric's performance has contributed to an upswing in Teac's earnings. After five straight years of net losses through fiscal 2016, the company returned to the black for the next five years through fiscal 2021. Teac's medium-term plan released in May set out a strategy of taking the lead in a specific niche, then expanding into related products. It targets operating profit of at least 1.1 billion yen in fiscal 2024, up 70% from fiscal 2021. This is a difficult time for the audio equipment industry, with Onkyo Home Entertainment filing for bankruptcy in May. Developing a strong lineup of high-end products, along with carving out a unique niche with equipment for streamers and content creators, will be key to ensuring continued growth.

just thought to share my experience with the folks here, on my pleasant experience with an honest and very reasonably price audio shop. had some wiring problems that kept draining my car's battery as the previous owner had installed some aftermarket accessories that has been quietly discharging the battery, leaving me needing to jump start my car very often. so decided that this has to stop and finally found the time to fix the problem. after several calls, finally decided on oversea union motor accessories, was selected by me as it was located near beach road as i am too lazy to drive all the way to ubi area, where tons of audio shops are located. so a quick 5min, mr warran, help me dismantle all the foreign cables and my battery discharging problem, is solved the damage, $10 dollars. when compare to other audio shops price range of between $30 to $80. its very down to earth prices have make an appointment to change other items within the car next week just thought to share with bros here , on how to stretch your dollar this is the number

Hi all, What may be causing audio cut off during engine restarts in a start-stop scenario at the traffic light? Music runs ok when engine was not running. Just installed an old amp in my car with i-stop enabled at all time and encountered this issue. Issit that the old amp draw too much voltage from the already voltage-reduced battery during cranking of the engine during restart? Thanks guys.

My COE car dun have aux input, which is a no no in the modern times as I cannot play music from gadgets such as phones and ipods, etc. Hence completed a simple upgrade to improve the flexibility of the existing sound system and make full use of the speakers and tweeters which are pretty decent and good enough for me. I share my humble and cheapo DIY project with fellow bros. Appreciate suggestions if can improve the "setup", make it neater or more presentable. Hahahaha

hi, just installed an active sub below my seat. than i realised that my front speakers are too weak to be blasted hard becos they are stock. so i went to upgrade the stock speakers to hertz speakers. after this, i was told that my stock head player has no power to drive my expensive front speakers to the optimal performance. and now, looking around for a amp to power up. after spending so much $$$ and time on all these upgrading, all we wanted now is to enjoy the music with good quality sound. so what media do you all use to play your music? is the SQ from a MP3 good enough? where can we get high quality music CD? TIA

This is my 1st time buying a PI car and choosing a pioneer HU to install. What I need is a HU with GPS function and can work with iphone(preferably with andriod too). Hope the experts can help. From what I have read from pioneer website and this forum, it seems that only 8650 has GPS module. What does this mean? Just upgrade firmware? Free? Other forumers have also suggestion to use the phone navigation function. Does all the model support this? Somehow I find that 8650 is an overkill as I'm not really into audio systems. Just listen to radio and MP3. Sorry for this noob question. I'm still lost and couldn't find explanation to my queries. Thanks a lot in advance.

Please keep this constructive and factual, for the benefit of others considering their options. Do share what did you get done to your ride? What components did you change? What has improved? So, please only those with positive experience need share here. Thanks.

Stage 1 Gonna start an audio system upgrade on Qashqai J11 In many occasion, the first to upgrade a car stereo is the speaker, head unit and addition amp. Often sound isolation or acoustic treatment is being left out in the equation. There are 4 main things to consider in car audio. 1. Speakers. 2. Amplification. 3. Source.(head unit). 4. Acoustic treatment.(soundproofing). http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Vehicle-Car-soundproofing-deadening-Engineers-view-/10000000176936757/g.html Personally, I feel that Acoustic treatment is the most important as it form the frame work or foundation resonant frequency of the car itself. If Acoustic treatment were to be in the last stage, there is a possibility of retuning the system again. (dismantle of parts, cover, speaker etc .) Love hate relation with vibration Vibration we love How do speakers work? http://www.physics.org/article-questions.asp?id=54 The electromagnet is attached to a cone made of a flexible material such as paper or plastic which amplifies these vibrations, pumping sound waves into the surrounding air and towards your ears. Vibration we hate As the speakers are generating these musical frequency, its also generated vibration within the door panels chamber. Often these frequency are trapped within the door chamber and causes crosstalk of frequency. Not forgetting that vibration from the car itself during moving off. As a result, some frequency are loss and some are amplify. That why we often hear the ugly sound of bass banging onto the wall of the inner panel. As much of the frequency(force) is being reflected back. In addition , other lose frequency. Solution Method 1 Weight the car down. By adding enough weight we can reduce the vibration of moving parts. However, efficiency suffer as more horsepower is require to move the car. Bad fuel consumption. Method 2 dampening material http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/vibration.html Vibration dampeners and noise deadeners can improve the sound of your vehicle by lowering the amount of ambient noise when you drive. Here are a few ways how: Speaker grilles tend to resonate and buzz, road and engine noise can come through the firewall and floor, and a door panel missing a rivet can vibrate noisily. Noise deadeners can help reduce these annoyances. Just using an inexpensive door kit can make your speakers sound better by damping the resonance around the speaker area. If your vehicle has a lot of ambient noise, applying a vibration damper can give you a quieter, more relaxing ride. Method 3 Acoustic Insulation 3M Thinsulate Acoustic Insulation is a cavity filling solution for automotive sound insulation applications. Compressible, lightweight and conformable, this product can be readily processed by conventional techniques such as die-cutting, heat sealing and ultrasonically bonding High performance and low density making them ideal for mass reduction applications Each method has it pros and cons Most convention and common is method 2. However, I decided to go for the 3M thinsulate as it should be the most elastomeric materials (An elastomer is a polymer with viscoelasticity (having both viscosity and elasticity) and very weak inter-molecular forces, generally having low Young's modulus and high failure strain compared with other materials.) also being lighter of the 3 and easier to work with. It just like going to the boxing ring with mike Tyson and you gonna tired him out by draining his energy by all those empty punch being throw at you. A empty punch is more tiring then a punch which land on the opponent. UNDERSTANDING DAMPING TECHNIQUES FOR NOISE AND VIBRATION CONTROL http://www.earsc.com/HOME/engineering/TechnicalWhitePapers/UnderstandingDamping/index.asp?SID=62 Sound test Please dont ask the wife or girlfriend for feedback. They always reply : NO different , why waste the money. But to ours Trained ear it really make a different.. Day and night.. After 3 installation on Qashqai I m totally convinces it works. All the cymbals sound like crystal bells All the bass sound more beefy Mid all around.. no more messy sound Songs Tested Rebecca Pidgeon No rattle on the door panels / vocal just flow into your face Carpenter It going to take some times - Sweet voices of Karen just feeling so lushy full / Feel like there a drum set right infront of me / All the instrument sound at the right volume. Megadeth Dawn Patrol ( the ultimate Drum and bass ) My ear just bleed. However, dont expect the 3m Thinsulate to perform magic an turn the car to total isolation from the outside. Nevertheless, it a good platform to start with Stay tune for stage 2 ....

Am dying to add a steering audio control to my Vezel, it feels incomplete without it. So did some calling and managed to find a shop that can install it. I sense a lot of interest among those of you who have just collected or are waiting for your car, so I asked if he could arrange for a group buy and he agreed. So here's the deal agreed with minimum of 10 participants: S$ 580 inclusive of labour The "mah fan" part about this is that they require a $250 deposit to indent the part from Japan and it will take a while to arrive. When this list hits the minimum of 10 people, the deal will be on and I will post details on how to pay the deposit and also help to consolidate your details. Those who want to join this, add your names below. The more the merrier! Finally, if anyone else can get a better deal on this, please share. Thanks! :) 1) poundpuppy 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10)

Is there a place with a good variety of HU that one can try and see how they work?
-
I'm driving an 08/09 legacy gt that comes with the stock Macintosh audio system and the headunit is integrated into my centre console. A common issue with these is that the in-dash cd changer will jam after a few years and that's the problem I face now. Most owners tend to install an aftermarket HU, although some used to get the Macintosh HU sent to the agent or something for repair. Thing is the legacy forums were shut down and it seems that the previous batch of Legacy owners that used to "play audio" aren't active on the FB legacy page so I have not been able to get a recommendation for a shop that can help me out. All I need is to get the CDs removed from the changer, no need for repair of the HU. I'm selling the car soon and this is one of the things I want to get sorted before I put it for sale (some of the CDs got sentimental value to me). Does anyone know of any shops that deal with Macintosh HUs or any other shop that is willing to give it a try? I approached a shop that previously did a stock sub replacement for me but they refused to even try. I know there's a risk of the CDs getting damaged but I'm willing to take that chance and even leave the car at the shop for a day or two if necessary, I just really want those CDs out.

Only had for little over 2 months and my car was totalled from behind. Video from my DVR helped show that I had very good distance to the car in front of me, but I hit it due to the impact from being hit from behind. Cops were trying to say i was following to close... nobody was the guy behind didn't pay attention wehen traffic suddenly stopped. Video was helpful for insurances and even my chiropractor. Simultainious video plays big role for seeing what happened, instead of just the front camera or separate 2 cameras. With this unit you choose to show (copy to computer) 1 camera or both camera videos after it is already recorded! You are in control!
