hi everyone, A colleague of mine is purchasing an Ambiente, Silver car, has a malay previous owner. Tested the car, and found out that driving at 100 kmh, the ambiente is showing 3000 rpm where my classic is at 2500 rpm. Guess it is due to the gear ratio, however, like to confirm. Ivan

Hi, Does anyone know if the manual air-con installed on the Skoda Octavia 1.6 Ambiente can be converted to a Climatronic Auto air-con? Are there any add-on parts that can be fitted to convert the fan speed to automatic? As far as I know, the Climatronic air-con is only available as standard equipment on the Octavia 1.6 Elegance series which Czech Auto does not import for the Singapore market. Strangely, the Fabia 1.4 model features climatronic air-con while the Octavia models have only manual air-con. It does not make sense to me at all. The Octavia 1.6 which is a bigger car, should have the climatronic air-con and the Fabia 1.4 which is a smaller car, should get the manual air-con. Thanks.

August Issue of Torque magazine comapro on Octavia Ambiente (A)
Catsr03 posted a topic in Conti Talk
Hi all, Just got the august issue of torque magazine and they did a comparison between the octavia, elantra and corolla. Very good article and the octavia came up holding it's own pretty well except for the performance aspect. -
Just got a call from a Czech Auto SE, Alan telling me that they are going to reduce the price of the Classic from S$85,800 to S$77,500/- in two months time to clear the remaining stock of about 20 cars and that being the case, my Classic will "suffer" significant depreciation. He suggested that I should upgrade to the Ambiente now and since being an existing Skoda Owner, CA will give me a cash rebate of S$5000/- therefore, I will "only" have to pay S$84,900 (S$89,900 less S$5000). I said, well that's a good deal, but what's the catch? What is CA willing to take my 8 months old Classic back for and his reply was that dealers are offering S$61,000/-. I told the guy, in a polite way really, that "you think I seow arh!". If I enter into this deal, I will have to cough up an additional S$23,900/- for the Ambiente. Lose money on my Classic and have to pay some more for the Ambiente. He then when on to try and convince me why the Ambiente is better and went as far as to suggest that I shouldn't be driving a car that is going to phase out soon. Anyway, I again poiltely told him that I am a budget conscious buyer and if I really wanted to buy an Ambiente, I would have done so during JTA's time as the price delta was only S$14,000/- (S$89,000 for Ambiente vs S$75,000 for the Classic). Any other Classic owners who have been contacted by CA, please share your experience, especially on the sales tactics they use.

Has anyone noticed that someone has advertised two (2) units of Skoda Octavia Ambiente in the Straits Times classified on Saturday and Sunday? The advert claimed it to be a "Bora" lookalike. I wonder if these are from the Budget Car Rental business that JTA used to have or we have some Skoda comrades that are bailing out?
