Folks, My home aircon is >10 years old and it is noisy and also consuming a lot of electricity. Will like to seek some advice here on what is the best option for me. Currently I have a 5 split aircon, one blower in each bedroom and since my living room is big, it has 2 blowers. After doing some searching, it seems like 5 split aircons are not sold anymore. Went to some shops and was told that more powerful/bigger blowers are available today so there is no need to install 2 blowers in my living room anymore. So now I am seriously considering to replace my aircon with a 3 split since I hardly turn on the aircon in the living room. My place is usually quite cooling and a fan in the living room suffice. So the 2 extra blowers in my living room need to be removed totally.... Questions 1) My bedroom has custom made wardrobes. So the pipings cannot be replaced as it will damage the wardrobe. Any issue using existing pipings? 2) Currently, my aircon consumes 10~11KWh of power daily with 2 blowers turned on at night for 8 hours. The sales guys told me new inverter aircons can easily consume half of that. True? 3) One sales guy told me the most energy efficient aircon now is Toshiba 3 split. Energy saver labels shows 0.65 KWh (part load) so it translates into 5.2 KWh for 8 hours of usage. This is about 1/2 of my current aircon's consumption. So part load for a 3-split aircon means 2 blowers are turned? Am considering either to go with Toshiba or Mitsubishi. There are many brands to choose from...very different from 10+ years ago when I only have 2~3 choices for the 5-split. Any other better recommendations please let me know. My top priority is low energy consumption and reliability. thanks

AC was not cold a few days back so went to a car ac shop near my workplace. Mechanic checked and said ac gas not enough and need to top up. However he also told me that it’s usually a leakage somewhere as car do not need to top up ac gas at all. Ask me to monitor. Is what he said true on the car do not need to top up ac gas at all if there is no leak?

One of my grandkids must have inserted a coin into the rear aircon vent , in order to retrieve the coin, i have to remove the plastice louvre cover, but because the plastic was already 15 year old, the snap on catches all broke off the moment i remove the cover. I ended up have to order a new OEM cover to replace it. This is a good thing about conti, one can find replacement parts easily. Below picture is with the damaged louvre removed. This is the new cover This is when the cover is removed, the defective one on top, the new one below. With the new one snapped on.

https://lm.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmustsharenews.com%2F9-aircons-sengkang-flat Sengkang Resident Says He Needs Nine Aircons To Be Comfortable, Flat Above Must Mop Three Times A Day But a Singapore man takes the cake by reportedly using a total of nine aircons in his four-room Sengkang flat at the same time. This is because he’s a cancer patient and needs to be comfortable at home. However, this has caused some inconvenience to his neighbours in the unit above, who have to bear with condensation on their floors. The 64-year-old resident in question lives in a flat in Block 258A Compassvale Road, reported Shin Min Daily News. Identified only as Mr Huang, he said he was diagnosed with end-stage liver cancer in 2020 and had to sell off his house to pay for his treatment. Thus, he moved into his current rented flat in the block a few months ago. Upon moving in, Mr Huang installed nine aircon units in the flat, despite it only having four rooms. While there are two of them in the master bedroom, the other two bedrooms have “just” one each. The living room, however, has five aircon units. He paid S$13,000 to install the appliances. Mr Huang told Shin Min that the aircons are turned off when he’s not at home during the daytime. However, when he’s at home, he turns them all on at the same time, set to a frigid 18°C. He explained that the extreme temperature is due to the hot weather, and it’s how he can feel comfortable at home. As for his electricity bills, he claimed that they exceeded S$1,000 per month at the previous residences he’d rented. But he’s cut down a lot on his usage now, so his bill for last month was a comparatively cheap S$350. While many Singaporeans don’t wear much at home, Mr Huang apparently wears several layers of clothes due to the icy conditions in his flat. When a Shin Min reporter visited him on Sunday (21 Aug), he was wearing a green sweater over a blue long-sleeved shirt, and three or four layers underneath that. However, he was also wearing a pair of black shorts. The chill from his unit could be felt from the corridor outside. Mr Huang explained that he’s also afraid of the cold. But for the sake of his comfort, he apparently has no choice but to turn on the aircon and wear more clothes. He also said keeping the body warm would help improve his immunity — important due to his illness. For the full story, please visit the website above. TLDR: End stage cancer patient uses a total of 9 aircons in his 4 room hdb flat. Unit above have to mop the floor multiple times a day due to condensation. We are potentially looking at a system 5 and a system 4 installed in a 4 room HDB flat. This is just about the legal threshold of having two compressors in one space. I've read that cancer patients may experience hot flashes or night sweats as common side effects of cancer treatments or chemotherapy so that might explain the excessive number of aircons. But is there a need for 9 aircons though?

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/singapore-johor-jb-causeway-malaysia-build-pedestrian-walkway-13108442 ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor is looking to build an air-conditioned walkway that will stretch about 350m along its side of the Malaysia-Singapore Causeway. The Johor state government has requested RM30 million (S$9.88 million) in funding from the Malaysian federal government for the walkway, said Johor public works, infrastructure and transport committee chairman Mohd Solihan Badri on Sunday (Sep 13). The allocation request earlier this year was doubled from an initial RM15 million after a redesign to include escalators and air-conditioning, he added on the sidelines of the Johor state assembly proceedings at the Sultan Ismail Building. Under the proposal, the walkway will stretch 350m and end at the border with Singapore, said Mohd Solihan. "For Singapore, I’m not sure how long the distance is going to be," he added. It is estimated that hundreds of pedestrians crossed the Causeway daily on foot before Malaysia enforced the Movement Control Order in March to curb the spread of COVID-19. Although no action has been taken by the authorities so far, pedestrians are actually prohibited on the Causeway, according to Mohd Solihan. Mohd Solihan also said that Singapore has shown interest in extending the proposed covered walkway on its side of the Causeway. He said that several officials from the Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Bahru expressed interest in the project at a recent meeting. “They asked for the design of the walkway so that they can submit a proposal to their government to extend the walkway,” added Mohd Solihan.

Any difference between aircon flushing and normal aircon servicing? Thanks

Anybody tried the above product or similar products before It only works for small car A/C leaks, but perhaps worth while if the small leaks happen at the evaporator (aka cooling coil) which might require dash board dismantling to install a new coil

Hi All, I would like to get an advice from bro for my case below. This morning, I went to service my car (Toyota Axio) , to check aircon intermittent cooling and normal servicing. But W/S told me I need to change aircon compressor and all 4 shock absorbers (right side at rear is leaking) and lower arm front. Total bill was S$2400.00 (They round it for me). Did I get ripped off by W/S or is the price around there? I have attached the invoice for reference. If I got ripped off, can recommend any good W/S? Thanks in advance.

Greetings to everyone here. After all the DIY journey with various parts of the car. I decided to start troubleshooting my own vehicle’s ac. Anyone has any inputs on where to obtain r134a gas in a canister form? Other tools like pressure gauges and pipes can be easily found in Taobao. However R134a gas is one of the prohibited items to be shipped from China to Singapore.

The reliable cable/wiring in aircon installation for home that I have read about is the Keystone or Sigma brand. I was quoted a system 2 using Eikou wiring. The salesman told me that it is a Singapore company. Does anyone here has any experience with the Eikou wiring. Thanks.
