  1. Discussion: The Aftermath of Repeal of Section 377A We should have a proper discussion on the implications of the repeal of Section 377A, a law which arguable discriminates homosexual males. Recently we see that the gay couple has a lot of support from the community (gay community, i presume), as evidenced by the funds they've received in such a short time, which enables them to file their case of repealing S377A with the higher Courts. New Zealand recently allowed gay marriages and the liberals will be using that to argue their case. Personally I do not agree that Singapore should follow what the liberals and western system advocates. Whatever it works for western countries may not work in Singapore. The westerners think their system is superior and they tend to encourage other nations to adopt their system. One good example is the recent "liberation" of Myanmar, the liberation of Myanmar follows only the U.S standard. I always asked myself why can't the westerners follow the China system or Japanese system instead? What if 377A is repealed? What difference is it going to make to Singaporean's lives? Probably not much. If you want to have sex, you will still have sex in the privacy of your own room. But I think we will be seeing more public display of affection between gay men. I think I am okay with that. My nephew in primary school has asked me why the male bangladeshi workers holding their hands in public. He told me only girls hold hands when they go to the toilet. I told my nephew that that bangldeshis are very brotherly and that is their culture. I don't know what I am going to say to him if he saw 2 guys holding hands or kissing. Naturally, after the successfull repeal of 377A, I think the liberals will lobby for gay marriages. It is going to be a big overhaul of our laws: Woman's charter, Muslim Marriage Act and Inheritance Act as I remember these laws specifically use the word "woman". I am sure the word "spouse" has to be re-defined. Male-gay couples have no problems with adopting children as there is a loophole in the adoption system in Singapore which allows a single male to adopt children as long as the adopter passes the minimum age requirement. How is the gay-couple going to enroll their children in public schools? MOE will have to overhaul their forms to remove the terms "father" and "mother". In other words, the terms "father" and "mother" may even be seen as discriminatory. What about TV drama and media? Is there going to be an overhaul and reflect 2 guys holding hands, "paktor-ing"? I meant, if you only show male-and-female couple, it is discriminatory to the gay couples! Am I thinking too much? Maybe I shouldn't drink so much at night. Gdnite. I'm off to beD.

  4. As per topic, this news is nothing new, but my immediate thoughts go to those who booked a car with this PI. There is a high chance that this PI may close shop and gone are the deposits & cars. In addition, I was also told that IRAS will recover taxes from the car importer, if can't pay, go jail, then they will come after the owners who got their cars from the importer for taxes due to IRAS. Anyone working in IRAS can verify? News usually do not report the company name, so how to find out? CNA Report

  8. Recently my car had this weird noise when cold engine start. It sounds like some crushed ice or water from engine compartment.I could hear it clearly from inside of car.It lasted for few minutes then stop or when engine is warm. I sent it to TC and the mechanic couldn't diagnose what is the cause, and said never encounter that before. Then they told me the noise is gone when they removed heater. They removed the hoses and used rubber stopper to block it. Coolant been tampered coz I installed water temp & rpm gauges, so warranty considered void, moreover I didnt go back TC for servicing. So there's no charge except rubber stopper. SG weather does not require heater but will removal of heater cause any problem in future? TC mechanic told me no problem. They also drain out the air or something and told me to lookout tomorrow morning if coolant level drop then just top up, coz there is still air in the hoses. Thanks.
  9. Just came back to office at ECP towards airport and after Bayshore...saw a aftermath of a terrible accident. Lane 1 and 2 closed, only lane 3 can pass. Ambulance, TP WRX, and a emergency bike rushed there. Here is what I saw when I passed the site. Hope the guys involve are ok...but I suspect the two cars are racing in the rain and the black WRX (I think) crashed into the center plants divider. But the Silvia is ok... 11. it's been more than half a year since i did my tein... and frankly, i'm rather ambivalent about it... well car bodyroll is minimal now, my car looks nice lowered (1 & 1/2 fingers heh) ... BUT... ride comfort is ... and i think the suspension is lowering itself, because i never scrapped the bottom of the MSCP's exit till recently, where i really have to go dead slow just to get out without scrapping the bottom ... and do you think overly stiff suspension can damage the car's chasis?
  12. A couple of weeks ago, I started my car and drove off as usual. The problem is everytime I turn the wheels, I hear a terrible sounds coming from the front of the vehicle. I stopped the car and looked at the wheels hoping to spot any obvious but I couldn't. Eventually, I brought it to my regular workshop and had them take a look at it. My first suspicion is that after my 80k servicing a few days back, the mechanic accidentally loosened something or forgot to put something back. However, after a test drive around the vicinity of the workshop and a few looks at the engine bay, I was told that the power steering hose was leaking (the power steering oil container was empty) and it would cost quite a bit to replace (~$300). The part wasn't available so I had to wait a day which was fine. Eventually the hose got replaced and the problem went away for a couple of days. A week later, I just had this urge to check if the replacement was effective. Once again, the container was below the acceptable mark and was noticeably missing quite a bit of the power steering oil. I went back to the workshop again for another check but they couldn't find a leak. They topped it up again and asked me to check it regularly and to come back should the oil level drop again. After some deductions, I think the missing power steering oil went on to fill up the hose and it should be a normal situation. Am I right or should I rigorously check the level every now and then?
