Hi, I did a drain and fill thrice (at 60k, 70k and 76k) even though manual says its good for 100k miles (lifetime). Reason is slight sluggishness during gear shifts at 60k and during change fluid is milky dark brown. Even during the 3rd change at 76k, saw that the fluid is still milky darkbrown (though the sluggishness disappeared since the 1st change) Mechanic suggest a transmission flush through the fluid cooler lines (he has done it for the older 4 speed model but not this 6 speed). I was a bit surprised coz when I did my first change, was told that this transmission cannot be flush. This mechanic says the Cruze cannot be flushed (same transmission) but he *thinks* the Epica can as the cooler lines are different. What's the risk if I go ahead and attempt to flush as the milky look does not seems to be getting better ? Will I end up with a bigger problem (the net has conflicting advice to flush or not to flush) Or should I just be patient and continue to drain and fill at every 10k ? Am I throwing away my money ? (The whole transmission including the cooler uses about 10L and each drain and fill can only change 5L which part of the old oil will always be there though getting diluted by the new oil.)

hi forumers, went to JB and looking into using Liqui Moly engine oil 5W30. the price is RM 250. is the price reasonable? and also, heard from mechanics saying its not advisable to use 5W30 for an old year 05 engine, not sure hw true it is? anyway, if i insist using the 5W30 Liqui Moly engine oil, the mechanic advise me to use their 3-in-1 engine flush @ RM88. issit worth it and advisable to do so? Thanks!

Hi, I am in the process of sourcing my own motor insurance. I got a few quotes and I need to select one of them. So far the quotations are on the higher side because I am a new driver and taking up comprehensive coverage on a sporty car. A few insurers suggested option with higher excess ($2K, $5K, etc) for lower premiums. However I am not sure of the implications of having a high excess... for example scenarios like... 1) Other people kiss my back and I claim his insurance. 2) I kiss other people back and he claim my insurance, btw what about my own car damage? how to settle? 3) Both cars hit by the side, 50-50 cases. 4) I hit an object, wall, tree, lamp post. 5) Other people kiss my car in the car park, hit-and-run cases. From my understanding, excess only applies if I make a claim on my own insurance. And I heard that most people actually would not claim their own insurance even if they are having the lowest excess because they do not want to lose their NCD. Considering that I am a new driver and would like to build up my NCD... please advice... thanks...

Was thinking of reducing costs with a COE Car, current car Vios fully paid up but will depreciate more. I saw that the corona is going around $12K with a new 10 year coe? Any bros driving coe cars out there to tell me if maintenance, cost wise after all the upfront savings is going to be a big issue with this car? Basically just need a pt A to pt B transport. 12K seems like a really good deal - basically the car depreciate only $100 a month. Of course you gotta factor in the maintenance (which i am thinking of doing in JB)

Need advise. Izzit advisable to get a System 4 (3rm x 9000BTU + 1 Hall x 18000BTU) or a System 3 for the rooms + System 1 for the hall? The former is cheaper, i think. I'm a lite user. Concerns are the longevity of the compressor if one kaputz, whole a/c system down and would it struggle to cool the hall? (macam 7-seater MPV, usually more sluggish)

Hi, As a new driver with less than a year's experience, I've never bothered to check my car's conditions. I've only opened the bonnet once, and only checked the tyre pressure once in a year. To my horror, all tyres were underflated (155 - 170 KPA rather than the vendor recommended 205 KPA). Every time I just sent the car to C&C for service, and for the past two trips, each cost me around $400. Some bros here commented it was too exp. So my question is: to what extent can I do the maintenance myself? Change of engine oil, brake fluid, send car to tyre shopt for balancing and rotation? Also, is there any short course (like 2-3 hours in total) that teaches you basic car maintenance? Thanks.

Hi all, I have just received a letter from Borneo Motors that I am eligible for the new Toyota Shield Programme which is basically an extension of warranty for Toyota Cars. The original manufacturer's warranty is only for 3 yrs / 100,000km whichever comes first. Toyota Shield extends it to 5 yrs / 140,000km. For me, i am a normal driver with annual milage of 20,000km. The extended warranty is fully transferable within the warranty period.. The extend of the cover is The Extent of Cover Essentially, coverage includes: 1) Engine - Mechanical 2) Engine - Fuel Supply System 3) Engine - Cooling System 4) Engine - Exhaust and Emission Control System (due to premature failure) 5) Engine - Electrical and Electronic 6) Transmission 7) Front-wheel Drive 8) Rear-wheel Drive 9) Steering - Mechanical 10) Steering - Hydraulic 11) Steering - Electrical and Electronic 12) Front & Rear Suspension 13) Brakes - Mechanical 14) Brakes - Hydraulic 15) Brakes - ABS 16) Factory Air Conditioning 17) Factory Audio System 18) Electrical 19) Safety Items 20) Towing Charges (due to breakdown) And the best deal is the cost of getting this extended warranty is $600 However, as i read further the terms and conditions as stated in the contract. They have added new conditions.. The original Toyota Manufacturer's warranty do not explicity state that you have to maintain, service, repair ur toyota with Borneo Motors. In the new toyota shield, this clause is added.. else warranty will be rejected.. and they are very strict about the servicing period.. the 10,0000km / 6 months whichever is earlier thing.. Brothers, if you were me. would you take up this offer? I intend to drive this ride for another 4-5 yrs.. Ride is > 1 yr old.. Understand that servicing at Borneo Motors is , and replacements of consumables and etc is even more at Borneo Motors.. At first glance, the offer looks enticing, but if you study the fine details.. Its apparently not so. So should I or should I not take the bite?
