  1. SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Police were alerted to a cable car incident at Sentosa this evening. According to a tweet by The New Paper at 7:02pm, an empty cable car fell at Siloso Beach. "Worker trapped inside another suspended car. SCDF and police on site, rescue operations underway," TNP tweeted. A second tweet at 7:27pm stated that the worker had been rescued. SCDF later released a statement at 7:30pm confirming that its officers were onsite. "A cable car cabin undergoing commissioning fell during testing. There was no one onboard the cabin," SCDF said. "There was an engineer in another cabin which was unaffected. "The cabin has since been moved safely to Imbiah Station and the engineer is fine. There are no casualties." Members from SCDF's Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team were also at the scene on standby. SCDF added that the existing cable car line was unaffected and remains in operation. - See more at: http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/sentosa-cable-car-line-falls-scdf-and-police-activated#sthash.RyScoNyM.dpuf
  2. Hi We all know that on a straight road with speed camera, if a car beat the traffic light, the camera will be activiated. How about beating the light (no camera on the road before turning) and turning into a road with speed camera? Curious to know Thanks much.

  4. In the early morning yesterday (Mar 21), a man wielding a keris, or dagger, sat on a chair in front of the grille gate of his Clementi flat and refused to let his wife send their children to school. The family and tenants living in the flat were eventually evacuated by the SCDF through the bedroom windows. She tried to persuade him to out down the dagger, to no avail. As he pointed the weapon at them, he shouted: "No going out! Cannot go out!" The drama was first reported in STOMP last night. According to The New Paper report today (Mar 22), the wife, 40, told reporters that her 45-year-old jobless husband had been speaking incoherently since the night before, and that he was stressed out because he had to go to court to face a charge the next day. Her husband has been in and out of jail for drug offences and petty crime. The frightened woman then called her mother, and before long, about 20 police officers arrived at the fourth-storey flat at about 7.45am. When he saw the police officers, the man got more aggressive. Through a phonecall, the police instructed her to take her kids into another bedroom and lock themselves in there. SCDF officers helped the wife, her three children and three tenants (two Bangladeshis and an Iranian student) escape on ladders placed at the front and rear bedrooms. Five hours into the standoff, police eventually decided to cut the metal front gate of the unit to arrest the man, after he refused to give up. The wife told The New Paper that her husband of 16 years, who used to be a loving husband and doting father, had changed for the worse after he quit his job at the Turf Club. The wife has since become the sole breadwinner of the family.

  6. Last week tuesday nite, my wife use online to buy travel insurance from our malaysia trip to genting and melaka from 4th sept - 7 sept. After submitting the form online, we received both SMS and email saying thanks for insuring with the company and our policy no. So with peace of mind we went to our holiday and came on sunday when my wife checked her email. During our stay in genting, the email from the insurance compnay say they cannot get payment from the credit company. So wife call them to clarify and found that all credit card submitted were correct and problem lie with the data entry clerk who keyed in the wrong date. So the question is, were we covered during our holiday when the email came saying unable to get payment? We did not access internet so unaware of the email during the holiday. My stand is we may not be covered during our holiday since there were cases where insurance company refuse to make a payout due to monthly premium not received even though there's a policy cert. And thus we were given a false sense of peace of mind during our holiday. Lucky nothing happed, but if accident were to happened and we need emergency evac, we can't afford to wait for the red tape of non-payment or legal argument during a life/death situation. The insurance company went ahead to deduct money from the credit card after keying the correct data. But I told my wife raise a dispute with our credit card company to reject payment to the insurance company. Anyone from the insurance industry wanna comment on the validity of our insurance during our holiday when the company did not receive our payment yet, due to their clerical mistake?
  7. another one i gt in my email... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe that explain why I m so busy but when asked with what? dunno busy with nothing A.A.A.D.D. KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ! Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better even though I have it!! Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the car isn't washed the bills aren't paid there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.... Do me a favor. Forward this message to everyone you know, Because I don't seem to be able to remember who I have sent this to. Don't laugh if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

  10. The Japanese are clean freaks! I went to Daiso and I got this carbon car deodorizer. You can find it as this box that is similar in size to the Hoy Hoy Trap-A-Roach. The box is yellow/black/brown. Has the chinese word for car (che) on the top left hand corner. Opening the box reveals a plastic wrapped paper bag containing the activated carbon. Remove the plastic wrapping and make the two cut-out holes on the box. Slip the paper bag back into the box and slide it under your seat. The carbon is quite hefty. Around 200g I think. It is found near the household items section where the refrigerator deodorizers are found.
