The IT show starts today, and I'm thinking of getting one. I'm a gamer, but I think I'd like a bit of mobility and utility. Buying a laptop may end up saving me more money as I won't have to buy a media center when and if I do get a HD TV for watching movie on. I was originally dead set on getting an Asus, but then I can across this: http://www.bootstrike.com/itfairsg/pcshow2...ochure-leaflet/ The 5820TG-432G50Mn. An I5, with a decent graphics card, according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html , 4GB RAM and only $1400. Seems like a steal. The closest Asus has to offer is this: http://www.bootstrike.com/itfairsg/pcshow2...ochure-leaflet/ Slightly better processor, but a much weaker graphics card. And 14". I'm a man, I don't mind my things being bigger and heavier (*hint hint*) The Acer also seem to have better free gifts... But I'm worried about the reliability, because I've heard people complaining about Acer overheating or motherboard dying.....

Dear Folks, Have been bugged by a wifi technical problem on the Acer Aspire one netbook recently. Hope some folks here could give an advice or two. Internet connection is normal when the netbook is powered by the mains power supply. When the netbook is running on battery, internet connection becomes unstable with regular intermittent disconnectons. Has anyone here faced the same problem? Thanks.

Anyone have this notebook, need your review. Online reviews gave it high marks. Understand the same notebook would probably costs the same at Sim Lim and you get get them to load up software for free due to competition with PC show. But Harvey Norman may be offering shopping vouchers....

Two days ago, I tried unsuccessfully to connect my Acer laptop to my 40" Samsung LCD TV, which I bought for more than six months ago -- so it's not the latest model. Thinking that the PC input has malfunctioned, I called for warranty service the following morning. To my pleasant surprise, they could attend to me on the next day -- which is today. Good service, I must say! When the guys came and saw my Acer laptop, one of them mentioned to his colleague that they had a similar problem with another customer. Anyway, when they couldn't get my laptop to work on the TV, they used theirs to verify that the PC input was OK -- it was. Upon further prompting, I learnt that it seemed only Acer laptops have this problem with LCD TV. By the way, my laptop is using the ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphic card. I didn't find out which card the other customer was using. I was too distraught with the finding. Sigh...

Thinking of getting the Acer Desktop Model: M5620 Comes with free 24" Monitor upgrade & MS home & student edition @ S$1999. Any opinions? Or are there better options at this price point? Should I stay with the loaded Vista home premium or ask them if can downgrade to XP Pro? Noob on PC specs & latest IT trend, opinions/ advise appreciated. On 13 March, I bought a Acer Travelmate 6292, less than week on the 17 March, Monday, the laptop can't boot up press power button not working. The next day went to the service center surprising the staff at the service center is able to boot up my computer and everything is working fine just that the time is not synced. The service person did some troubleshooting like removing and put back the ram maybe it's not sit properly and he say it will be nice if i left my laptop overnight at the service center for a more throughout check so i did left my laptop there for a more precise check on it. Yesterday, I received by laptop with a service report claimed that everything is working fine no problem. 10 minutes ago, when i try to switch on again not responding tried everything with battery and without battery still fail to switch on. This laptop really pissed me off I am going down to the service center on Saturday for a refund totally have no confidence in Acer products anymore.
