  1. Hi folks! I am currently planning for battery replacement and am looking for a maintenance free battery for my Aveo. Are there any good recommendations around? I am looking for a 55 to 65AH maintenance free (non-wet) type with battery status indicator that fits into my Aveo bracket. Currently, I am using the Delkor 55AH maintenace free battery with indicator, and it has been serving me well for the past 18 months. Is this brand good? Should I get back this brand? Should I just get it at Starsauto during my next servicing coming up in a few weeks time? Is it going to be very much more expensive than outside? If not, what are your recommendations with considerations to the followings: - Battery brand; - Reliability of Shop (inclusive of installation); - Price; - Rating of battery (no ICE, just the stock set); - Location of the shop; Alternatively, as I am an AAS member, should I just wait for it to die one fine day, and call AA to replace? What are their charges, and do I still get to choose my battery? I know I can use the search, and I've been keeping an eye on the battery threads. However, I feel that these things changes very fast: - reliable shops can become unreliable overnight; - Battery quality may change overnight; - Prices of batteries may change over time; - I am not Luke; - The force isn't with me; Hopefully, you all can help this clueless soul make a hassle free change of battery and keep it going for the next 18 months. Thanks!

  3. Hi all ...dad driving full time taxi and no longer and rarely used car. Looking for carry on installment. Pay insurance and road tax. expiring in feb.
  4. Hi all. I am considering buying these 2 drives for my sales business But need to ask which is more ideal Chavolet aveo auto. Left about 2 yrs. Monthly instalment 850. Still can renew coe and take back scrap. But heard it is high FC. And repair very expensive. Suzuki Every. Renewed one round of 5yr coe already. Loan period about 4 yr plus. Monthly instalment 680. Can use to carry goods and got rear seats. But will it be as high FC as aveo? Or worst? And the engine is below driver seat. This will be a hazard in long run? Or it is not so bad as it seems? Anyone can verify?
  5. I am planning to service my Aveo outside. Anyone has any recommended workshop in the west area? My Aveo is 1 yr old and just completed 20k at Alpine and the damage was $129 (+own cxxxxxe oil at $30). Actually i was thinking to just take up the mineral package at Alpine and run up to 10k for next servicing to save some cost but maybe outside synthetic oil package is cheaper compare to Alpine. Saw the SPC servicing at $68 before and i even consider comfortdelgro group at Pandan. Hope to gather more info from bros here. Cheers.
  6. OK I have been receiving so many PM regarding what is said in the title, I will explain and make this sticky. Upon receiving your new Aveo, you will be entitled 3 free servicing. Please note that the servicing labor is free but the engine oil is not. SA will supply the oil and you have to pay for it. The 3 free servicing mileage are 1k km, 5k km, 10k km. You will forfeit the free servicing if you don't return at the specified intervals. SA will use Mobil Super S 15W50 for all the servicing. It costs $51.50/4L. I do not know what the factory fill is but it does not matter. Some have asked if they can use synthetic oil for all the servicing. You can actually but because synthetic oil is usually very expensive and draining it too early is terrible waste of money and oil. That being said, I don't think Mobil Super S is that great either. At that price for 4L and it is a blended oil! Blended meaning it is semi-synthetic, a mixture of mineral oil and synthetic oil. So what oil should you use? I would recommend any oil that is cheap at up to the 40wt grade. When I say 40wt, I mean any oil that is 0W40, 5W40, 10W40 or 15W40. As long as it is cheap because of the short change intervals encountered. For those who missed the boat, cxxxxxe Triple R Fully Synthetic 5W40 at the offer price of $29.90 is unbeatable. That is why I keep encouraging you all to get it when Carrefour puts it on the discount shelf. It is 5L per bottle and if you do your math right, you can buy enough for oil changes until 20k km. Aveo uses 4qt of oil not 4L. That is around 3.75L per change. Another good candidate is Castrol GTX 15W40. At $32/4L bottle, better than Super S and reputedly have more detergents. Another 15W40 that should not be overlooked if you frequently go to JB to get petrol is Caltex Delo 400 15W40. I know it is used for diesel engines but it also can be used for petrol engines. At MYR60/5L bottle, it is the cheapest you can get but it is the thickest of all the candidates here. The losses in the fuel economy department is very high but it will keep your engine very clean and have loads of antiwear additives. Next is Conoco Hydroclear Super All-Season Gold 10W40 at $30/4L bottle. You can get this from Yung Soon Auto Supply at Upper Weld Road near to where Song Yi is (Song Yi is very important when you drive a Chevy). This oil is uses a hydrocracked base. Very highly refined stuff instead of the neither here nor there sh1t called Super S. Royal Purple is another candidate. At $38 for 4qt, it is cheap and it is synthetic though I would say a bit wasteful to use it. Makes sure it is either the 10W40 or 15W40. Both are available. 0W40 oil is 100% fully synthetic and the only famous one is Mobil 1 Gold with Supersyn. If you are that rich to drain out this oil with less than 15k km intervals, you shouldn't be driving an Aveo. BP Visco 7000 is the other one and it costs about the same as the Mobil 1 Gold. You can't get it cheaper than $51.50. Finally how long for the break-in process. Don't mean to scare you but it takes as long as 25k km. You cannot rush it and neither will it be prolonged. Just drive normally as you normally do. No need to drive like a slow turtle and driving fast like a race driver will not speed it up. Finally, after the break-in with all these cheap oil what oil should I use at the 30k km servicing? Any 30wt oil will do. Just look for 0W30, 5W30 or 10W30. You will then start to enjoy the fruits of a more rev happy engine and in many cases with speed discipline, better fuel economy. Now if you cannot take all these losses in the fuel economy department, go get 5W30 or 10W30 and start using immediately and don't bother with changes in oil grade to confuse yourself. Unfortunately, the cheap oil with these grades can only be found across the Causeway. For 5W30, there is Conoco Hydroclear Super All-Season Diamond 5W30. You can find them at Projet stations for MYR79. If you know of friends or workshops in Malaysia that service Peroduas, you will find Castrol M-TEC 10W30 that is specifically formulated for them. They can be found with rock bottom bargain prices. However, Castrol has stopped producing M-TEC and instead. Perodua Genuine Oils (PGO) has taken over. http://www.autotrade.com.my/emzine/review/...d=RT.ATC.CAR.PV See if you can buy PGO oils from our local Perodua stealership. These are not synthetic oil but the Conoco one is very highly refined. After the break-period, you can get more expensive synthetic 30wt oil like Royal Purple (actually still cheap) or Castrol SLX-A3 0W30. All this advice does not just apply to Aveos. Optras and Vivants can take this course of action as well.
  7. Fully agreed with the statement made by this link: http://www.mycarforum.com/reviews/reviews.pl?id=1050 I observed the good points too....value for $$$ buy ride.....

  9. Bad news has just struck workers at the South Korean General Motors (GM) plant. According to American automaker Chevrolet, it isn't likely to perform production of the next generation Aveo in the aforementioned Asian country. The announcement came last Thursday, mentioning that the next generation compact car from Chevrolet, the Aveo, would be produced in China and US exclusively instead. Unfortunately, this has provoked a reaction from the worker union. If GM sticks to its plan, a threat of the union striking seems inevitable. Honestly speaking, this announcement from the US-based automaker came at such an improper time. GM Korea and the union are actually holding wage talks and have not had a smooth start. This is even more reason for the union to launch their strike, with the strike being the union's biggest legitimate weapon they can use to defend themselves. According to GM, though, it seems that it is no longer profitable for the company to keep building the Aveo in the country despite the fact that South Korea has been producing 40 percent of all Chevrolet cars that are sold worldwide. The reason for GM to switch production to other countries is mostly due to the rising wages in South Korea. And, the Aveo isn't the only model affected. GM has also announced that it will no longer produce the Chevrolet Cruze in the country, either. Taking everything into account, it seems that GM will stick to its plan indeed. On the other hand, it seems that the workers in the union are also determined to launch their strike. With that being said, this may turn out to be quite a huge problem, not only for Chevrolet and the workers but probably for us as well who are thinking about buying a Chevy.
  10. my mum is driving a 2007 model chevy aveo 1.4l it comes with the fitted cd player. but dunno y the radio suddenly cannot work.... i went back to agent and the told me need $500+ to replace.... any where to change a maybe sony or kenwood or any brand cd player? at a cheaper price?
  11. Hi guys, I have just installed 17 inch wheels on my aveo. I was wondering if I change to lowering springs, how much lower will it get for front and rear? I also wish to make my front wheels more A shape meaning to let the base protrude outwards for better stability. The rear is already A shape. But front seems rather parrellel. Is there anyway to make it A shape? I have friends telling me to change some camber or chamber kit (duno whats that). Is that possible? Or should I add some spacer? Does starAuto do this?
  12. Anyone able to advise, what is the correct level of gas to be pump into chevy aveo aircon? tks much.
  13. Hi all I went to Southern City ( Johore) yesterday to look at the Chevy agent there. The Malaysians are selling the Aveo 1.5AT 5-dr, Optra 1.6, Optra 1.8LT.. Their Aveo are only avalible in 1.5L AUTO and it comes with side skirts, lower lip and rear bumper extensions. No Airbags, Tilt steering column, adjustable seat belts. Optra 1.8Lt came with Electric Aircon control, Leather Seats, Rear Chrome boot trim, 2 SRS airbags, TCS, Noise Reduction Control, foldable electric wing mirror and ABS-ECS.. Very high Specs. I even bring back a Catologue but their catologue doesnt have any performance figures and is only a printed page on both sides. Very simple. So I asked the Sales and they commented that the side skirts cost ( RM1600 ) which are inclusive of Spraying, installation cost. Lead time is one month after placing order and installation will be done at Chevy Malaysia authorised workshop near X-tra Centre. So for any bro whom wants the bodykit and dun mind spending RM1600, Chevy MY is the way to go.
  14. [extract] When Chevrolet introduced the new Sonic (known as the Aveo in Singapore) with the 1.4-Liter turbocharged petrol engine, it was available exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Now, GM announced that it will be available with the option of a 6-speed automatic. This is good business strategy as not everyone prefers to switch gears by themselves.
  15. Just now near midnight, I was approaching the Rochor flyover towards Airport when traffic suddenly slowed to a crawl. All the cars started to filter to 1st lane and I knew confirm an accident had happened. Passed the debris on the second lane and it was possibly the Chevrolet Aveo 5 hatchback I had seen earlier at JW. Front bumper totally gone, engine exposed, and car was facing on coming traffic. At the side, there was a comfort cab with hazard lights on and several people on the road shoulder. Car might have also crashed into the barrier but am not sure. Well, if it was the same car, then I must say, the driver was probably speeding and didn't know the bendy/up and down roads on ECP next to Marina Bay well enough. I was behind him at the traffic light at Jurong West and this guy accelerate and speed like there is no consequence all the way up the long stretch next to Lakeside and Chinese Garden further down. Easiliy above 100kph there. When filtering into the highway, I picked up to highway speed quicker than him but the next moment, he zoomed past at least 130kph. The last thing I saw he did was cut someone's lane and zoom off into the distance. Didn't see his tail light at all. All I was doing was cruising at 90+.. And there was it, the car totally wasted the nx time I saw it. Of course, it might not be the same aveo but what are the chances of seeing another a maroon chevy aveo hatch at that time going in the same direction? To the driver, know your car limit and drive safe. I really hope that you are alright.
  16. [extract] One of the several vehicles showcased by Chevrolet at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show is the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS (also known as the Aveo in some countries). The aggressive look of the Sonic RS is much inspired by the concept that debut a couple of years ago. The Chevrolet Sonic RS remains true to the concept
  17. just want to know which is better

  19. [extract] Chevrolet has unveiled the 2012 Sonic, ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show. Called the Aveo in Singapore

  21. dear all... 1ST AND FOREMOST.... this thread is not about Malay drivers or Red-Plates... just so happen this Malay Red-plate pissed me off... Lately my mood has been very down... due to being over-worked, stress... moving hse... wife problems... honestly with all these problems should be damn bad mood... but no leh... i so depressed and sian that i have to fake looking happy and cheerful at work... especially in front of my customers... and to my surprise, when on the road kanna cut, instead of blasting my horns, just cursed him in my heart... i had more stressful problems to deal with than idiotic drivers... yesterday after an event at Sembawang, while leaving for hm, decided to go in JB top up some petrol n buy ciggies... not much of a jam... took my own sweet time and came out in abt an hour... after getting out of Woodlands checkpoint, once i entered the bridge into BKE, there was this snail Blue Aveo on the right lane going at maybe 50km/h... its ok i thought, he's probably picking up speed... next 10secs still snail speed... so i high beam... still snail speed... i still waiting for him to chnage lane so that i can speed up... so i tailgate very close to show him i wanna speed up... and he tap his brake.... i cut left wind down my window and stared at him... (by then behind got a row of cars liao)... all the passengers looked at me... all except the driver... so i shouted ..."you tap the brake ah?... you cheesepie knn... fish you bus-third... ni na bu cheespie..."... STILL the driver looked infront while the (i presume) mother and wife all looking at me... i gave a final middle finger good-bye and speed off on the 2nd lane to cut into SLE... while he was still holding up a long row of traffic on the 1st lane... c--k sia i was kinda disappointed at myself for losing it... but i told myself this would not have happened if the asshol3 did not tap his brake... i mean wtf?... want to tio tai chi ah?... knn i am ok with slow drivers... my mun is... just keep left lah... bloody fisher... if it wasnt because the whole family was in the car i would have scolded even more... haiz... dont know how many strands of hair i lost over this incident....
  22. hey all! just want to voice my grouses... my aveo sedan 1.4M got involved in an accident in mid july, till now still sitting in workshop waiting for spare part to arrive... supposedly it's the spare tyre compartment that nowhere in sg and msia has... sigh...
  23. Ford Fiesta, VW Polo, Honda Jazz - Take a close look at the Chevrolet Aveo RS concept. It has caught my attention and you had better pay attention too! Starting with the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, Chevy is out to change the Aveo's cheap and boring image into a product that we might actually desire. The process begins with the Aveo RS concept, which provides a preview of what to expect from the next-generation production Aveo when it arrives in showrooms sometime next year. The Aveo RS has much more attractive proportions with a wider stance and longer profile that make it look much more aggressive than the current model. It also adopts some of the smaller Spark's styling cues. Inside, the Aveo RS has similarities to the smaller Spark and other larger Chevrolet's like the new Cruze and Equinox. Like the Spark, its instrument pod consists of a round speedometer with a rectangular digital display to the right sitting on top of the steering column. Since this RS version is meant to be a hot hatch, GM has equipped it with suitable seats to hold the driver in place during aggressive maneuvers. On the show car, the seats are finished in actual leather with stitching that matches the blue exterior. Power in the RS comes from the turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder producing 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque that will also do service in the larger Cruze. The torque gets sent to those over sized 19-inch wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. I believe that the production model will come with an automatic option. The Ford Fiesta is rumoured to be equipped with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine in the foreseeable future, and the VW's Polo will be powered by a 1.2L TSI unit soon. Let's hope we can see a 'triple threat match' among these 3 hot hatches in the near future!
  24. I'm considering getting a used car yr 05 or 06. In terms of build quality, power, maintainence and FC, which car is better? Any owner here mind sharing your view please. Thanks.
  25. I am planning to buy some H27 bulbs from US thru my fren who is doing his studies there. The type of bulb I am looking is the fog light bulb with H27 connection preferbly 5000k to 6000k. For better bargain and also to jio those interested bcos I know I am not the only one who wish for whiter fog light bulbs to match their whiter headlight. I would like to ask who is interested to give me a pm. The price is about $50, so those who want please confirm with me soon, so that I will order together to save on shipment fee as shipment fee take up a large portion of the price.
